Titan Robotics and Cyberworks

The Rifts® Titan Robotics™ and Cyberworks™ Collection have GONE GOLD!

To steal an old video game term, going "Gold" means that the master copy of a game is finished and has been sent to the printers to be produced on physical disks like floppies, CDs, etc.

We sent the finalized files to our printers on Monday so I am pleased to inform you that we are solidly on track to begin fulfillment in June! Hopefully, everything continues to go smoothly with our printers here in the USA, their supply chain, shipping, etc. I'm a pretty optimistic guy, but as a military veteran, I've learned to plan for the worst while only secretly hoping for the best.

UPDATE: Rifts® Titan Robotics™ Poker Deck – We just received the advance proof sheet this morning and WOW, these cards look sharp with deep colors and they feel great to flip and shuffle. We haven’t had a chance to shoot a video or photos of them yet but I think everyone will be very happy with the upgrade in the quality of this premium poker deck.

 

UPDATE: Rifts® Bestiary Volume Two: Now that Titan Robotics™ is at the printer, my primary focus is bringing Rifts® Bestiary 2 across the finish line. With expanded classic monsters, new beasties by me and Kevin, and a slew of killer art, we are doing our best to make sure that this one is a satisfying follow-up to Rifts® Bestiary Volume One.

 

UPDATE: Yin-Sloth Jungles™ Expanded and Updated to 2nd Edition Rules: This book is going to feel like a new adventure featuring dozens of new maps by the talented Phil Stone, second-edition revisions and expanded material by John Klinkel, all personally updated by Kevin. May release.

 

UPDATE: Rifts® Antarctica. Though it’s a book or two down the pipeline, Kevin and I have been working with Mike Majestic on a bunch of great new illustrations. This whole book is gonna be a beauty with art by Steven Cummings, Mike Majestic, Mike Mumah, Amy Ashbaugh, and others. When Kevin told two visitors about the expanded material that is not in the Raw Preview they drooled and one said, “Now I have to absolutely buy that book, too.”

 

UPDATE: Secret Projects behind the scenes. Kevin isn’t joking when he says that we have a lot of incredible stuff brewing behind the scenes on different fronts. While our primary focus is releasing long-awaited books while steadily making improvements to our production processes, layout quality, and other practical updates, we also have some exciting projects in motion. I can’t wait to share more of these with y’all soon.

 

UPDATE: Kevin’s eBay Store for collectibles. Alex and Kev have added some new art and negatives. The one–of–a–kind negatives are from early books and each lets you own a piece of Palladium history (and art) on the cheap. Kevin is also considering putting some Ramon Perez and other art up for sale. Kevin’s store offers an eclectic range of Palladium collectibles including Robotech® RPG books and negatives, other out-of-print Palladium titles, first printings, toys, and a couple dozen one-of-a-kind negatives, proofreader copies of books, as well as toys and action figures and other odds and ends (http://stores.ebay.com/kevinstoys-artandcollectibles). However, many of these items sell within a few days after they get posted, so keep your eyes peeled. Palladium collectibles and negatives continue to be added at least once a week.

 

Merc Kevin

Eye Surgery: Palladium has experienced a whirlwind of events lately. This Tuesday Kevin had eye surgery for a cataract in his right eye. Though it meant I spent most of the day with him driving to the surgery and then to follow-up appointments, it was well worth it because everything went smoothly. Kevin even relaxed a bit Wednesday after I kicked him out of the office when he tried to sneak in and work. Thanks to fan Larry H. who posted a cool photo of Kevin dressed in M.D.C. body armor to social media – I'm not sure if it was photo-bashed or AI-generated (Wayne thinks it’s a Doppleganger), but it is the spitting image of Kevin if he were the commander of a Rifts® merc company. It even had him wearing sunglasses that look like the ones they make you wear after an optometrist appointment, which was uncanny since Kevin was wearing them that same day, so I printed the picture out and taped it to Kevin’s door. It’s still there.

 

We want your feedback and suggestions as we build for the future. If you’ve seen any of our interviews over the past year and a half, Kevin and I are very interested in your thoughts on Palladium’s products and future plans. In Point of Fact — we’ve had some of you reaching out to us to ask if pre-orders are eligible to receive the Savage Rifts conversion PDFs for Titan Robotics™ and the Cyberworks™ Collection. Many are Savage Worlds fans who have had their interest piqued by Rifts® for Savage Worlds and are unfamiliar with Palladium’s general way of doing things. First off, welcome! Second, I’d like to make a few points to help clarify everyone’s expectations:

  • There are technically two Savage Worlds Adventure Edition (SWADE) conversion documents. The first is the Titan Robotics™ SWADE conversion. The second is the Cyberworks™ Collection SWADE conversion, which was a stretch goal that Kevin and I decided to grant to all backers as an early Christmas present. For brevity, I call the docs “Savage Titan Robotics” and “Savage Cyberworks” but be advised that these are purely rules conversions, they won’t mean much without the context of Palladium’s Titan Robotics™ or Cyberworks™ Collection sourcebooks.
  • Palladium Books, unlike Pinnacle Entertainment Group (the makers of the Savage Worlds RPG), does NOT release PDFs for public sale immediately upon the release of print books. Without getting technical about business strategies, etc., please just respect that our two companies have very different market approaches.
  • This means that crowdfunding campaigns and pre-orders that include PDFs are often a unique chance to purchase PDFs at a discounted pledge or pre-order bundle price.
  • On the flip side, Palladium prints locally here in the USA, often at a printer just a short drive down the road from our offices in Michigan. This means that our physical products ship out in weeks, not months, which is worth considering when purchasing physical books – especially in regard to pre-orders and crowdfunding campaigns.
  • The Titan Robotics™ campaign is the first time that Palladium has Kickstarted a book. We are still learning as we go and are doing our best to accommodate a wide range of customer needs.

 

So, to get back to the core topic, both Savage Rifts® conversion documents are strictly Kickstarter rewards, but the Mechanoids® (and therefore the Cyberworks™) content is especially so due to our current licensing agreement with Pinnacle Entertainment. I was super duper clear about this during the Kickstarter and all of the related interviews, but it seems new fans still got confused and were under the impression that these items would be put up for sale as PDFs as soon as they are finished. This is definitely not the case. That said, we’re bummed if any well-meaning fans get left out of the fun due to what seems to have been a fairly common misconception.

So Kevin, Wayne, and I had a good chat and decided to go with an option requested by multiple Palladium fans many months ago — we are offering the following general release books bundled with the PDF, plus the associated Savage Rifts® conversion PDFs. Palladium Collectibles – at Kevin’s Online Toy & Collectibles eBay Store

I am adding new collectibles and Palladium negatives over the next several weeks, so check ‘em out. Alex and I will try to post new items on a regular basis, so check in every week or so to see what’s new.

One-of-a-kind Palladium Books negatives (special and rare collectibles). Negatives are always very popular items at the Palladium Open House, Gen Con, and conventions, and are catching on as rare collectibles, unique in and of themselves. Before digital printing, pages of a book were laid out by hand on a board, and each page was photographed. The plastic film negatives were then “ganged” on a massive sheet of Mylar, 16 pages per big sheet, and the printing plates were made from the negatives – everything white, printing black. We have been cutting them loose and making them available to you. I am only keeping a few dozen pages of negatives and a few complete books for myself, the rest are all being slowly offered to you, in no particular order.

  • Each is truly unique, attractive, and fun to have.
  • Own a piece of Palladium Books and RPG history you will treasure.
  • Each was used to print the very book you may have in your collection (1981-2004).
  • Each signed in silver ink by Kevin Siembieda, the founder and owner of Palladium Books. He is also the game designer and often the author or co-author of the book from which the negative originates. And some negatives bear his artwork.
  • Each signed negative comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
  • Each signed negative is a one-of-a-kind work of art (on rare occasions, two-of-a-kind if a page or section of pages were replaced or a second edition was made) that resembles woodcut art, and a very dynamic conversation piece.
  • Each signed negative is on a white board inside a clear plastic bag.
  • Negatives looks fabulous matted or framed! Fits in an 8x10 inch matt opening. Each neg is roughly 8½ x 11 inches.
  • Prices vary depending on the title, the art, and quality of the negative. Note: Many have scratches, or blemishes, and/or an opaque medium on the negative. Still, they look great and are a piece of RPG history. We recommend you carefully examine the photographs of each item to avoid disappointment.
  • We have been making the negatives available, in no particular order, for a number of years, and will continue to do so. However, cutting them loose, signing and bagging is a time consuming process.
  • Note: The negatives from the TMNT RPG, TMNT Adventures, and some Rifts® titles are already sold out. Moreover, the negatives from many titles were destroyed, so when you see one you like, get it when you can. Enjoy.

Original art – My Ebay store is one of the few places where you can find original artwork by me (Kevin Siembieda), Kevin Long, Charles Walton, and others, as well as one-of-a-kind negatives from classic Palladium books (they look awesome framed), and other Palladium memorabilia. Some are concept sketches, others are finished works of art, as well as a selection of prints and posters.

This week has me doubly excited because not only have Titan Robotics™ and the Cyberworks™ Collection gone to print, but the latest three big Rifts® for Savage Worlds® products that I led development on are being released for backer review by my friends at Pinnacle Entertainment Group. Recently, while talking with Simon Lucas (President of Pinnacle) and Darrell Hayhurst (Savage Worlds Creative Director) in separate conversations, both remarked how easy the dev team is to work with and what awesome material they are writing. I really appreciate that, because their competence and enthusiastic support has really freed me to focus on my work here at Palladium Books.
