1st generation was designed to mirror the Zentraedi, with some close-combat and a few fire-support; the Mecha of the REF, are designed to fight the Invid, which the swarm-tactic.

I'm not sure, but, I can't think of which anime it came from (probably Gundam), but they had fighters very similar to Alpha's in design. I'm not too sure on how aerodynamic they would be, but if you look at an F-4 Phantom, which is proof that if you give a brick enough thrust, it will fly.

I used hit-charts from a lot of video-games; I used one from Steel-Panthers, and Enemy-Engaged. They were percentage-charts; I remember that at best, an SA-7 had usually a 7% chance of hitting!

I started playing Palladium with Robotech 1e so I have so I have a huge soft spot for it so yes, I agree overall 1e is better. . . . Same here; it was my first RPG and I even converted Battletech to be played by Palladium's rules (and vice-versa). I did enjoy Robotech 1e , but, I've kinda moved on....

There are a lot of folks who lack the time, or the familiarity with the material, to do that. It's really easy though. At the time, I had only a few months experience playing Robotech and zero experience playing Battletech, but the TRO had a mathematical-rhythm to them that was easy to figure out.

I never saw the point in posting mecha-stats. I mean, I spent one summer-break converting all, Battletech, Technical-Readouts, 3025, 3026 (my favorite) and 2750 to Palladium's system and then spent the rest of the summer playing Battletech to Robotech rules. Stats are easy to come up with.
