Nexxy, if you still havemy email addy, let me know once it's actually out, so I can go buy it. I haven't been to a game shop in ages, cause I have all the stuff for the game I AM playing. I'm only buying your book, and then nothing else for PF until OK comes out... Same here GS. It's been ages sinc...

Well, to reply to the punch to the nose vs 100 punches, that could easily be simulated by HP. One punch to the nose does 2 HP and you have 44 HP. Looks like you can take a lot more punches before you're dead. People can be beaten to death, happens everyday. The problem is there is nothing in the ru...

This guy has a copy of 1st Edition in that collection. It's on the bottom of the stack in the photo -- left hand side. Might be worth a message asking if hed' sell the stuff piecemeal. Well, if you decide that you want things to go a certain way then you simply skew the results in that direction and take the story where you want it to go. If you are truly willing to go either way, and want to play it out and see what happens, then I'd look to other game systems for inspiration. D&...

Hey Lionheart -- appreciate the detailed reply The prep time issue is second nature, but the components issue is great advice that hits on years of my own personal game predjudice. Summoners?
So I find myself in an interesting position. I've been playing and GMing PFRPG since the first printing, but I've never had a player run a Summoner. I've used them as NPCs and even major villians a number of times, but I'm finding that having one as a PC is far different. NPCs don't really need camp...

FWIW, I personally dislike spells that scale with level, yet remain fixed in cost (i.e. Call Lightning, which always costs 15 P.P.E., whether it does 1D6 or 15D6). I prefer spells to have a fixed cost for a fixed effect, with, in some cases, the option to get a greater effect by spending more. I do...

Max, you might want to check out Palladium's Weapons and Armor , by Matt Balent. It may be out of print by now, but I'm sure you can get hooked up. It's a thin little volume of supplemental material about, well, weapons and armor. Many, many types of both are represented, from many periods and cultu...

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it! We are all looking forward to this - good to know the Plate issue isn't too bad in 1E. None of us have done more than dabble in 2E, and that was years and years ago, so I'm not to worried about that, or min-maxing. I can min-max my baddies, too Kudos on ...

Re: Fuzzy Alignments and You
Really, as a player or GM, nothing really pisses me off more than hearing a player say "I really don't want to do this, but my alignment says I have to..." Well, that's the sort of thing that could easily happen to you in real life, if you ever found yourself in the kind of extreme circum...

Having your DM limit you to those three races and the core classes is probably a good thing. Almost anything you roll up will be playable and competent. There aren't any racial biases towards specific character classes, at least none that provide a tangible benefit to the player the way there are in...

I've been playing PFRPG off and on since the first printing of 1st edition, and in all that time I've seen very few Druid NPCs, and only one Druid PC. He was a regular in my campaign years ago, before 2nd Edition. To be fair, he was a terrific character. But the guy who played him was a terrific rol...

I'd say it does. You can say that again. I'd say it does. I run it that way, but techically it only applies to actual skills. I run it very subjectively. If it seems like IQ would apply, but the rules don't specify, I apply the bonus. For example, for class skills from the brainpower-based magic us...

I almost always test-drive humans first in any game where race is an issue, so I guess they're my favorite race. Traditional elves and dwarves have never really sparked my interest as a player, although I have played them. Despite that, one of my favorite all-time characters is an elven longbowman w...

Stats don't have to be created, if you don't like. But a method towards creating a new deity (size of pantheon, place in pantheon, general level of power, specific abilities, family tree) would be helpful, would fill most of what people are asking for, and is something that could be brainstormed he...

Another vote for 1st Edition here. After some initial enthusiasm about 2nd, I found myself drifting back to 1st fairly quickly. Particularly if you have no need for your campaign to be compatible with the rest of the Magaverse, 1st is just cooler. 2nd does have ideas worth lifting, though, so I thin...

Combining those two classes smacked so loudly of min/maxing I ran to the shelves to dust off my trusty Old Ones 1st Ed. for a re-read on Illusionists. Having done so I would rule differently from Nexxy on this issue. Keep in mind that I don't have Illusionists in my campaign, though, because I think...

I'd give almost anything a shot if the character involved wasn't out of whack with the overall power level of the party. As a GM you can take down anything that becomes a problem, so I never worry about the campaign being damaged. But I don't like my games to develop such that a significant number o...
