Re: original vs revised rules: who likes what?

Since I was looking at the mechanics parts for my cheat sheet, I skipped over the relative stats for MDC and weapon damage. That's a great point. Your example about the bursts is a good one for speeding up play... I made a table of all the various burst combos in 1E. It takes up 3/4 of a page. Crunc...

Re: original vs revised rules: who likes what?

Shadow - are you saying the rules evolved to make combat a little harder than it had been?

Re: original vs revised rules: who likes what?

Maybe the 80s were just a simpler time, but... those older rules look like they play faster and easier than the newer ones - based on nothing other than there being fewer of them. In -some- cases the new rules are clarifications or fill in the blanks for something left completely undescribed before,...

original vs revised rules: who likes what?

I don't know why, but when the original Robotech PDFs came out on DTRPG, I started collating the rules together in a document that would put everything I would need to run a game (specifically combat) all on a couple pages, in an order that made sense to me. Then, for another unknown reason, I start...

Re: Robotech/Voltron crossover

As long as there are no Robotech / My Little Pony crossovers on the drawing table, everything else is fine. I bought the Voltron book. I'm not up on my Voltron. On the first page, there's a panel with a group of military guys in RDF looking uniforms. One guy looks like Edwards wearing his REF era fa...

Re: Franken-Mecha

He looks like quite a bruiser. Almost like it would be intended for work detail or gladiatorial games. The hovertank's distance weapons are in the arms, and the VF doesn't have any missiles in there I think... Yep. This guy is for close quarters brawling.

Re: Campaign idea I'm working on

Have you seen the movie 'The Adjustment Bureau"? Overall, I didn't care for the movie, but this core concept of a group that works for the great unseen whatever goes around and makes sure that pieces fall into place according to plan was originally what interested me. In that story, there is on...

Re: Robotech?

That is very complete, Mike. Thanks for putting that together. Ladies and gentlemen, what you see here is a perfect example of how NOT to run a project. Seriously. The cover art is hardly 4 months worth of work. I can't think of a project manager running a project that he actually expects to complet...

Re: Robotech?

I wish I knew what the doggone hold up is. Is robotech money in the bank or not? If not, then why has KS been saying that it is? If it IS, then what is the other factor preventing the books from coming out? It's not like it's mana from the gods here, but come on. Personally, I am interested in robot...

Re: Robotech?

I've been following this progression as close as the rest of you. When did Lemuria sneak in there? I thought I remembered New Gen being right after the Vampire thing. Am I alone being a little irked by this possible memory?

Re: Dead Reign, from a GM's perspective

Could it be that survival horror -can't- survive translation to the play-by-post model? Too slow paced to feel the tension of death surrounding you?

Zombie / Superhero crossover novel

I just came across this book on Audible on sale today: http://www.amazon.com/Ex-Heroes-Peter-Clines/dp/1934861286 It pretty capably fulfills the idea of a megaversal style crossover by creating a zombie apocalypse in a world that had recently started showing superheroes. Several hero types are repre...

Re: JFK believed in UFOs

A lot of politicians and religous figures also do. The Day After Roswell is one of the books on the recommended reading list of the Nation of Islam. Minister Louis Farrakahn recently was talking about UFOs and government disclosure in an interview. That's interesting. I don't usually go straight to...

Scott Sigler's Nocturnal

Hi all, Not sure if anyone else has ever posted a link to this, so I will. Go check out this page: http://www.scottsigler.com/nocturnal . It's an audiobook about some stuff that, while not expressly within Nightbane mythos... is pretty freakin close. So, if you want to listen to a free audiobook abo...

Re: Trained Attack Zombies

Trainable? Only in Day of the Dead so far I think. Bub even learned a little loyalty and how to fire a weapon. An idea for attack zombies might be sort of an 'all or nothing' gambit if the players fear attack from other survivors. The dead -could- be corralled into chutes or holding pens in the yard...

Re: Safe Haven

Has anyone read the 'As The World Dies' books by Rhiannon Frater? I'm partway through the first book and she has a pretty good idea. The idea is that a diverse group of survivors fortify an area of a small town that had been undergoing a sort of urban renewal project. So, there were trucks, construc...

Hi everybody

Thanks for clicking on my first post here at PB.

I just got Dark Reign (and BTS2) via an awesome Christmas Surprise and am interested in playing. Problem is I have zero local RPG-savvy friends to play -with-.

What are the options for a 33 year old Dad? Is anyone playing online somehow?
