I've said this several times, but I love these and use them regularly. Thanks for all the work you do.
I think you should do a ley line walker next. You could have a suggested spell list based on combat, espionage, exploration, etc.

Re: Mechans of Rhodan, a silly RCC
This idea is pretty imaginative. I wish Rifts had more RCCs like this, and less boring human-like D-bees. Good work! It would be fun to play intelligent slime molds, bodiless beings of pure energy, giant amoebas, etc. The problem with the wholly nonhuman-physiology character is, of course, that it'...

Re: Deep Wilderness Campaign as introduction into RIFTS.
I offer this word of warning: Players like Rifts because they can be cool, weird, and powerful characters. GMs like Rifts because the world is wild and unpredictable. The limits of your scenario take away some of the best parts of Rifts. I think you and your players will both have more fun if you gi...

Re: Media similar to Rifts
I've seen almost all of the anime people are mentioning here (Vampire Hunter D, Battle Angel, Silent Moebius, Bubblegum Crisis, Appleseed, etc.). I never really thought about how much Rifts is inspired by anime. It sure is though. It's interesting that almost everything that anyone has mentioned has...

Re: Media similar to Rifts
The anime, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust has elements that are Rifts-like. Oh yeah, totally. How could I forget about this? The Vampire Hunter D movies and novels are an obvious inspiration for Rifts. Vampire Hunter D has a post-apocalypse/Wild West setting where vampires overlords rule isolated vill...

What are some books, movies, comics, or games that having a setting similar to Rifts? I really like the weird genre-bending Rifts world, but there isn't very much official Rifts media. I'd love some more sources of inspiration.

I sometimes play alone using the Mythic Game Master Emulator. It works great! Spell casters, psychics, and characters with lots of skills are the most fun to play.

These are very useful to me. Something like this should have been in the main rule book. Conversely, I'd buy a book full of these.

Re: artwork
Condoroids and Octomen can't seem to be as cute as Mutant Rats like Magali in Machinations. I don't think I intended the Octoman to be cute, but he just came out that way. There's a Rifts group on DeviantArt that has a lot of great stuff, both published and un-published. I've also mapped out Rifts ...

In Eclipse Phase, the TITANs mysteriously vanished and could come back at any time. That's pretty scary.

Re: Dwarf OCC options
I don't know about high tech dwarves, but Columbia in SA1 and Queens Harbor in SB4 have Techno-wizard Dwarves. Phaseworld dimension books also open up dwarves in space, but IIRC they are still more techno-wizard than pure high tech. I'm pretty sure SA1 does not have any OCCs an RCCs for those dwarv...

Re: Can you parry ranged attacks?
Thanks for all the responses. Like all things in Rifts, this question is not as straightforward as it seems. I think I'll just rule that you can't unless your RCC/OCC or something else specifically says that you can. That seems to be the best way. Only if the character has the skill and a shield (MD...

Can a character parry ranged attacks? I thought that you could not, but while flipping through the RUE yesterday, I read something (I can’t find it now) that indicated that you could. I have a question about random psionic powers. If a character is randomly a minor or major psionic, how many powers and how much ISP do they have? Re: Neo human Cyber Knight (?)
I’m a little confused about the relationship between OCCs and RCCs. I had always assumed that if a race has an RCC, then it must use that instead of an OCC. Is that the case? Are there examples of races with RCCs that can forgo those and use OCCs instead?

For the record, I really like the SA setting. I think that nations are cool and imaginative. I like that setting is based around the conflicts between its various factions. I also think it ties nicely in with the Atlantis, Mexico, and Underseas world books.

Re: Rules for Shields
Currently, I just add the shield parry bonus to the the parry bonus of a wielded weapon. In other words, using a sword and shield at level 3 would give you a parry bonus of +4 (+2 for sword and +2 for shield). Admittedly, this is pretty unbalanced. Another option is to let shield-users attempt parry...

I read a thread on this forum a couple of days ago that described a Rifts supplement on DriveThruRPG that contained some fast-play charts and 50 NPCs. I've been reading World Book 7: Underseas. I'm pretty impressed with the ideas in here. I have an experienced role-player, but I'm brand new to Rifts. I have the RUE core book, and a couple world books are coming in the mail.
