Gods and Splicers

Unread post by Alpha 11 »

Ok, would the Gods get involved in Splicers? I could see the Gods that have run into the Mechinods getting involved if they came across that world. They would not want another Mechinod type force around. And would the machine plage affect them, I do not think so, in fact, they might even cure it. What do you think?

Believe an Ex Splicer player, don't make such question on this board. Is pointless.
Splicer is a sealed setting. Probably the only true one. Even system failure got more chance of being integrated in normal palladium megaverse. (and in my opinion that is the reson of not being the most succesful product.I'm sorry but i was always told to say the truth, at least what I think is the truth).
Answering your question, gods will not took interest in Splicer dimension due its lack fo magic, ley lines, and PPE. Would be sucidal for them. Same for demons and genrally all sueprnatural creature . Is just not worth the effort. They could just keep an eye , in case. And plan the eradication of the Splicer Earth(ther eis some deity that coudl cause a rifts cataclysm if i dont remeber wrong). in case the Machine decide to extened her mechanincal arms beyond her dirty mudball. For the rest they will jsut ignore this world, much as you ignore the sewers running under your feet.

It's successful in my eyes - a blast to play, interesting and original.

Sad that there are already 'ex-splicer players' doesn't feel like the game's been out that long.

So are you saying even the more human loving Gods would not help out?

Like Wormwood, most gods just don't know about Splicers. Besides, most gods are too busy humping their plot of land on Rifts Earth :D

Human loving by gods is a relative term. After all in the great scheme splicer world cover little interest so far. After all what he got you can't find elsewhere?
Bio-technology? Dont' overstimate it, is uncoomon but can be found in three galaxies, Splugorth markets and even HU earth(plus something in Rifts Earth, Skraypers dimension and ATB earth). Robotics? More common than stars in sky, apart fantasy world each high tech world get some. Perhaps the only thing of value is the nanoplague. Is a very effective(albeit no so much) weapon. But nothign you cna find or reply elsewhere with abit of research. So whya god would interest in this world? He is depowered, can't truly tap in the PPE he need to survive, unless we got for MASSIVE human sacrifice. One coudl point the human loving thing. Sincerely I think that Nightbane World need much more help. After all on SPlcier world they are facing their own creations gone mad, in Nightbane earth here is an ancient evil poisoning not one but two dimensions (three if we include the astral realm) . Is the so called "forbidden apple" theory. As long as is the result of their own action , and don't touch us, why we should interefer? That's gods, and angels phylosophy.

Splicers is a setting that simply isn't going to appeal to most players (or GMs) because it is meant to be a closed world. Add to that the lack of magic/psychic power and the pure hostility of the world to traditional technology and you have a setting that survivalists and people that want a change from the standard Megaversal melting pot games might be attracted to. I like it because it is easily fatal if players push a bad position (any combat vs NEXUS forces qualifies) and it pushes you outside your normal approach to gaming.

It isn't that big of a plot change if you want to open Splicers up to the Megaverse. I think the limits were there to minimize cross contamination.

Hmm considering that this discussion is moving far from the original topic, I want to clear that ti had became an ex splicer player, for pretty much the reason demos said. Simply the setting wasn't for me. And I see nothing wrong with this fact. After all my grandfather always told me "One had to wear the shoes that fit him better". I tried the game, truly. But i never felt for it what I feel for Rifts or HU.
As for opening to the megaverse, is unlikely. I would like to, but that's not going to happen. As was said Splicer is a closed setting. Not fitting truly in the megaverse. Figure that Robotech is much better fitting the megaverse than Splicers.
Sadly this si what limit his success(and please let's face the truth, I don't see horde of fans craving for the game or for eventual sourcebooks. Being generous the world population of Splicer fans could be around 20 something or slightly more than that). I remember that It was on pages of rifts that I read a note about TMNT and other strangeness, about how it could be useful to create more mutant animals, in TMNT book when i bought it I read notes about other palladium books compatible, Ninja and superspies and HU. And so on. This for say that being part of megaverse help spreading. Splicer is all alone instead. Getting new player is not easy , and as Demos pointed out the setting is not "easy" so to speak. (I would add that is totally combat oriented too, but that's a personal opinion).
I don't want to be mean or cruel or else, but i think that not sourcebook would ever get out for this game, at best perhaps an article or two on Rifter.
I left with a personal note.
Splicer as SDC setting would have worked better. There is not a logical reason for it being MDC.

Hay, at least you tried it. Not everyone is going to like everthing that Palladium comes out with. IMO, Rifts is still better (though that is the only other "universe" that I have books for that is still being done by Palladium at this time.)

hmmm In that case you used the Splcier book as a sourcebook for Rifts. But everyhting can be used such way, included non palladium books(I think to Gurps Technomancer or Gurps Cthulupunk as example of similar stuff). So means little or nothing. Still you've to admit you had to got rid of most peculiar features of Splicer setting. Or otherwise explain me how you did it in detail please.

Huh! By my accounts it is just as sealed as RT and less so than Nightspawn.

Let's put this to rest with an interpretation of this-

Why no gods?

Because, the Splicers already had their god.

They named it The Machine.

And it went insane.

There's your god, kiddo.
