Merging Games: Splicers and Systems Failure

Saw a thread on the SF board that got me a thinking about how these two games could work together. The more I really ponder, the more excited I get about a jointly evil Machine/Bug versus humans type world. Anyone else have some thoughts on the matter?

I thought the bugs didn't actually need any outside energy beyond sunlight. They gorge on energy because they're addicted to it. If there was some way to keep them contained within the Preserve, the Machine could keep control of the bugs by taking the role of their "dealers".

I think it'd be cool if the bugs and the machines started fighting amongst themselves. That'd give Humans more of a fighting chance.

Have the Machine see the Bugs as another breed of vermin, one that sucks power from it,...
While the Machine might LIKE having some new predators feeding on humanity around, in the end, a burgeoning population of Bugs would just drain resources from NEXUS....Bug efforts to 'farm' humans would disturb NEXUS, because it would mean keeping humans around for longer...more chances for the slippery little apes to get away and start trouble for it....Plus the BUgs are definitely ALIEN, and thus aren't part of the native ecosystems that the Gaia aspect of NEXUS is trying to protect...

Any merging of the two settings would probably result in a constant three-way war, with alliances between any two factions at best temporary and fleeting...and there would be a constant juggling of priorities...Do the BUgs take the time to torment the humans or do they try to take over the Machine(and deal with the humans later), do the Humans help squash the bugs as alien invaders, or let the BUgs and the Machine duke it out? Does the Machine deal with the pests that can travel inside its technological workings first, or let them establish themselves while it deals with its old problem of its former creators?

actually since both books are dead end settngs.. it would be neat if palladium did release such a book...

Toss in another near-dead book, Nightspawn, and you can have the Nightlords offering sanctuary to the Resistance, only to eat'em in the Nightlands....Will the Machine regard the Nightspawn as human? Or significant mockeries of humanity that they go unnoticed?
If you can figure out a way to blend THAT in, then you likely end up with a world so bad that the refugees will see Rifts Earth as a PARADISE...

Nightbane is not dead end, it actually had a new book come out, and more will come out after Tome grotesque and the other BTS 2 books come out.

I thought a book wans't dead unless people stopped playing/reading it. Star Wars d6 hasn't been updated in a decade or longer, and people still play it as much if not more than many "alive" games.

There is a store here in town that has no fewer than three seperate games going on every friday night. I haven't been in a couple months, but a friend of mine does, and he says as the younger kids get into it its still growing.

Seriously, I did once witness a kid completely wig-out when another kid was argueing that Han Solo was cooler than Ani. Thought we were gonna have to seperate them (after we let the Han fan get in a couple freebies

speaking of pleasantville and Lake Placid .. both are neighboring towns in NY state.. which we got lost in...

And we were not chased out by a Giant Man eating aligator .....

we did however stop by the pleasantville HS ... where we were attacked by Zombie Ghouls!
