The Chi Challange!

Unread post by Nekira Sudacne »

I've tried to calculate this several times and I keep getting different answers.

what is the theoretical maximum amount of chi a 15th level character can have. the martial arts being whatever would provide this maximum. however, the PE roll, and what skills and bonuses are taken to enhance this are the variables that keep screwig up my math.

so, for the purposes of this challange:

Come up with a level 15 character that has the most chi you can min-max your way twords. Here are the rules.

1. for the purposes of this, assume 24 natural PE was rolled.
2. the OCC must come from Ninja and Superspys or Mystic China
3. the Martial Arts may come from Ninjas and Superspys or Mystic China, or Kuseru's PMAN
4. the skills, bonuses, and such are for whatever OCC and and martial arts you pick.
5. this contest will be held for a month, at which time a winner will be named.

let's go! :)

You may want to remove the styles from the PMAN from being eligable, due to the high difference in playability of them.

However, as a quick answer, given the rest of your criteria:

15th level DMA with Snake Style and Tai Chi Ch'uan
1st level 24+15x2 Chi = 78 Chi
3rd (TaiChi) Double Existing Chi = 156 Chi
4th (Snake Style) Double Existing Chi = 312 Chi
7th (TaiChi) Double Existing Chi = 624 Chi
9th (Snake Style) Double Existing Chi = 1248 Chi
11th (TaiChi) Double Existing Chi = 2496 Chi
14th (Snake Style) Double Existing Chi = 4992 Chi
15th (TaiChi) Double Existing Chi = 9984 Chi

Now if I select Climbing & Running as the two secondary skills, that adds a bonus of +2 to PE (for 26) resulting in
1st level 26+15x2 = 82 Chi
164
328
656
1312
2624
5248
10, 496 chi at 15th level.

While I could play around with different style combos (affecting bonuses to PE, multipliers, and/or Chi), OCCs (such as the Wai Chia Wu Shih who also gets two styles AND Chi bonuses as part of their LABs AND can select any physical skill), or even RCCs, the multiplier combination of Snake Style & TCC (as you can see from the above example) gives one of the best boosts to Chi. So that x16 to Chi from having both styles counteracts the x12 that would be the most likely multiplier you'd get from other style combos (most styles have one or two chi multipliers at most).

Of course, I'm sure I could dig through the PMAN to find two styles with even higher multipliers together if I really wanted to, but I'm not going to.

Niiice... And just think, your Push Open Hand strike will have a knockback of nearly two miles. :fl:

Even worse, I just checked, and that much Negative Chi, if used to infect something, will have enough power when ignited to kill any of the Dragon Gods...with relative ease.

This needs to be an NPC in Rifts.
