Wormwood in other Books

Unread post by Marrowlight »

OK, I remember the Holy Terror in Rifts: Mercenaries. The Rifter has also done some work with Wormwood in the way of Blood Magic and revised Symbiotic Warriors. Other than that, where else has Wormwood shown up in the Palladium game line? Or is it still a basically locked away and forgotten realm? (not that I'm complaining, just wondering if there's been notes about it in the Adventure Guides or things like that.)

There's a Phase World book with an NPC from Wormwood. Can't remember what his previous class or name was, but he's currently a 7th level Witch, IIRC.

K, that's another NPC. Any other world info/updates?

World Book: Japan mentions that the Katana of Ghostly Soul Slaying was based on a smithing techniques learned on Wormwood.

FYI: In Brave New Wormwood the Sentinel Knights of the now-lost Unified Realm still use Soulstuff weapons.

The Dark Millennium Tree in Mindwerks has a portal to Wormwood.
There you go man, keep as cool as you can.
Face piles of trials with smiles. It riles
them to believe that you perceive the web they weave
and keep on thinking free.

Thanks guys. So sounds like there's been some connections here and there but by and large it is unchanged from how things were in the Dimension Book.

There is also a mention in Phase World of D-Gates that lead to Wormwood.

One of them leads to a Ley Line Nexus in a cave...umm...Wormwood has no ley lines, Mr. Carella. :?

The cave is underground... where the Ley Lines are.

In my Wormwood work, the cave is near the city of Zoalm, kind of north-east of the Demon Mountains.

The Wormwood book specifically states that there are no ley lines...zero...zip...zilch...nada.

There are Places of Power that are like ley lines, but Wormwood does not have ley lines.

darkmax wrote:Anyway, I think it was mentioned somewhere that there are ley lines or/and nexus under the surface of Wormwood. I'm pretty sure of this.

Wormwood has subterranean tunnels which are equivalent to ley lines, but no actual ley lines.

The relevant passages from the book are found on page 44:

No ley lines exist on Wormwood.

...

After several months, the line walker will be able to feel mystic energy pulsing through the planet although too faint to be used as a ley line. On Wormwood the magic energy flows like blood through the veins, deep inside the planet.

...

An astute line walker may eventually discover that the magic energy of Wormwood is most powerful underground in caves (including food caves) and rare subterranean passages. The mystic energy inside these caves is equal to that of a ley line and will be a place of comfort and power for most ley line Walkers.

One also notes that a Ley Line Nexus is not a requirement for the formation or existence of rifts. They merely make it substantially easier.

1. See Tinker Dragoon's post.

2. It states in the Wormwood book that Rifts occasionally open up randomly in the sky without ley lines.

:)

Braden, if your submission has Wormwood with ley lines...you might want to edit it. (Should only take 5-10 minutes).
