One problem I had with the article... the illustrations sucked!
I was loving the text...but the lack of decent visual material just made me go "Meh...I have a half dozen books back at home that I use for ship-building rules..with much better visual representation. I'm a saving my $10!"

No fault of the writer..he did good.

Let this be a warning to all who would write for PBooks... IF you can: GET FINAL SAY ON THE ARTWORK!. I know I'm only one of dozens (if not hundreds) that feel the same way about making purchases based on both text and vis.

This is one main reason why Cyber Punk 20XX (or Ver. 3.0) is bombing...

I dream of towers in a world consumed
A void in the sentient sky
I dream of fissures across the moon
Leaves of the lotus rise

It looked ok to me. I'm going to try it out after work tonight!
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."

What exactly is the content of the article. Are there specific rules for repair and construction or is is mor of a set of guidelines based on the writers experiences.

I liked the article and loved the art.

The ships looked "lived in," the perfect fit for an article about Galactic Tracer Ships.

I did some reading last night and enjoyed the article. I"m going to try it with my NPC tracer tonight. Tell you all about it tomorrow.

no it's similar to making Merc Companies, etc, with points, but the writer did a nice job with "naming" some manufacturers as well as classifying some of the technology.

it's also just for Galactic Tracers.

I haven't read it fully, but what I did see I liked. I think it has potential to work with other types of ships.

I wish the writer would've included some ships, but they may have been trimmed off by the editor.

I liked it because it's a "character level" vehicle, that isn't just another 10 million MDC, 5000 crew and 40,000 troops...

Thanks Ill have to pick that one up.

Do they include prices for common items like shields, sub-light drives, and armor? If so, this book is on my buy list.

I wrote the system up on a whim recently when I dusted off the old phase world books, fully intending to run sort of a munchkinesque rifts game. Imagine my surprise when two of my three players chose Galactic Tracers and all wanted to know about star ships. No Prometheans or Cosomo Knights... no attempts at convincing me to let them play a Seljuk or Godling Invincible Guardsman. But there was concern on personal starships. Thus I wrote up a short little peice that ballooned into twelve pages. Such is rifts. Glad the peice was enjoyed.

Dude, the Jannisary article kicked ass (though I changed their roles a bit for my game), and yout Galactic Tracer article followed suit.

:ok:

Keep up the good work, Mr. Fackler.

Susssh, Carl. I thought you and I were taking over this line. ;)

The article really worked for me. I can tell that it is balanced, thought out, and fair because the Runner in our group used it to flesh out his "typical runner ship", and only had to go 10 points over. Otherwise, it matched the scetchy outline in from pg 70-something in the first Phase World book.

Well done all around.

I tried it out too. It seems pretty well balanced too. Of course I used it on my NPC's Tracer's ship. It's a pretty wicked ship now.

Good! At least we don't have to suffer the huge discrepancies from book to book.

Well at least until someone else decide to write for Phase World. Don't forget about Dan Bishop. Plus Naruni Wave 2 is a cool resource for PW. Theres a lot of cool gear that gave me a few ideas.

I sure am looking forward to seeing Branden's work.
