Prints, Brandon’s Arrival & Stuff
Yipee! I am completely caught up and current with personalizing and numbering the signed Megaverse United prints.
We are up to print #1562 as of this morning (June 5, 2006) and I hope to keep up with them from this point forward. Julius, Hank and Bill spent the entire afternoon packing and shipping them, so 95% are on their way to you even as you read this.
Brandon Aten/Galactus Kid arrived this morning. He’s volunteered as an unpaid intern to help out at the office for a few weeks. Basically, he’s working for food! We had breakfast, did a little grocery shopping and I showed him his corner of the cold floor in the warehouse where he can sleep.
Between business calls, I spent a lot of the day chatting and doing orientation with Brandon, so it was a fun, easy day for me. Yeah, I know I really should be writing or doing other important work, so you can blame Brandon for any further delays. Hey, as our intern, we should blame Brandon for everything! Bruh ha ha ha ha . . .
Seriously, tomorrow will begin the real work for all of us. I need to get caught up on a few things (like sending out Rifter art assignments and contracts), and jump into writing Madhaven, PU3, Rifter 35, Rifts Sourcebook One (revised) and Tome Grotesque, all wait for my finishing touches.
The pin-up artwork coming in for The Rifter #35 -- our first “swimsuit” issue -- is looking fantastic. Among most people’s faves are a truly outstanding illoe by David Martin, an Elmore or two, the Zeleznik double-page spread, two great pieces by Chris Bourassa (he’s one of the Backbone Entertainment artists), Adam Wither’s super-babe, Freddie Williams’ pinup, and . . . well, they are charming and fun. I think people are really gonna enjoy this issue.
The laser etched glasses are on track for delivery next week, we have another T-Shirt or two in the works (in time to take to Origins) and we are dabbling with a half a dozen, long term secret projects that made Brandon’s jaw drop (now let's hope they actually pan out). To bad he’s signed an NDA and can’t reveal a word of it. (Cue more maniacal laughter).
That’s it for now, taking Brandon home for a steak and potato dinner in an hour. (Of course, that will be his last good meal, before we chain him to the office. All part of the plan to lure him into a false sense of security.) Then its work, work, work.
Sincerely,
Kevin Siembieda
