In Robotech, the Earthlings have little idea on how to make the drive work completely. I assume they did not give the drive enough power, so they ended up with a difference in the travel time.

In Phase World, the Invaders are able to move immediately from location to location. Wouldn't that be because they have more control over the power consume by their fold drive?

What do you think?

Seeing as how their vessels are 'solid' energy, yeah, I think the Invaders have much more control on energy expenditures. :D
Even the RT Masters didn't have 100% understanding of D-fold technology or how to harness the power to do it. Their thinking; "***t works, who cares HOW it does it as long as it does."

There's actually a note in either Phase World or Anvil galaxy that specifically mentioned fold drives--and yes, they are instant transport to the designated co-oranites even across galactic distances.

Offically ley lines somehow interfere with Robotech's space fold system. I'm not sure if they effect all space fold systems or just Robotech's.

There is no Fold Drives other than robotech. it did mention the technology in Phase world, but also said it's not native to the 3G's whatsoever.

The only mention i recall is the intruders and such, but it is possible the magic content of the 3 galaxies probably interferes pretty bad and the group of intruders there may just be trapped there. Lots of ideas, Either that or the magic interferes with the Biological nature of the Robotech drives causing them to randomly bounce around the galaxies and such, very unstable.

Fold drives are mentioned on pg 152 of PW as being very likely to malfunction in the 3Gs. I basically took the Fold Failure charts from Zentraedi and doubled the base chance of failure to 30%. Now considering the Outsider's superior control of energy, I'd recommend dropping that chance back down to the base 15%. Space folds are near instantaneous, but the chance of failure (and the consequences) make them a very unpredicatable source of transportation.
