You can find general information about the current state of the world on pages 165 - 169 of After the Bomb 2nd Edition. But if you're looking for a world book, I doubt that you will see one.
However, with Erick's work on Rifts: China 2, maybe we will see an AtB World Book for China some day.
Archipelago nothing! How about a book that finally has Taiwan survive one of these damn catastrophes that seem to hit the earth in Palladium! Sheesh! Every time I read a book in Rifts, or Chaos Earth or anything else, I look in the section about Asia and all it says on Taiwan is "the sea rose up and ate Taiwan like a fat-man at a buffet". Come'on guys! Let's pull together and win one for the gipper! Save Taiwan-in-Palladium's-post-apocolyptic-future-settings-having-books-and-games!! --GJ.
I don't think AtB has a big enough fan base to have Rifts like World Books published, and I hope it doesn't ever go that route. What I'd like to see is all the original AtB supplements updated for the new rules and put into one large book the size of AtB2, and then possibly an all inclusive AtB2 Animal Book that includes a way to turn your favorite animal into a mutant if it's not actually listed in one of the books (with the appropriate tables, conversion rules, etc.).

What makes you say that?

That article was explaining the cancellation of TMNT & More Strangeness (the second edition of TMNT & Other Strangeness), due to the game's nosedive in popularity among adult gamers after the mass marketing of the TMNT in the late '80s and early '90s as children's characters. After the Bomb 2e would not even have been written yet at that point.

It would be a nice city-state for someone to expand on for the Rifter.

Given that HK is thousands of kilometres of open ocean away from Jakarta it's unlikely they'd ever make it that far. Australia is much closer and easier to access.
In short, it sounds as if Hong Kong dollars are a smoke screen for a black market operation. Could even be the currency of the black sailed ships, or an underwater empire. Or maybe just a deliberate attempt by Tassie to dilute the Lisa...
Now that makes sense. It wouldn't be surprising if the Jakartan government is so corrupt that whole parts of it are involved int he black market and maybe even suing the legend of hong kong as a way of making money off currency fluctuations. He who controls teh money supply...
