Mutants in Splicers
I am curious if anyone else got the idea that instead of having human Biotics (or at the very least, make them super rare) have mutant animal biotics (a la AtB2)?
This would be more keeping in line with the folks in Splicers wanting to keep humanity reasonably genetically untampered with, but at the same time managing to make shock troops that could be sent into battle with very little remorse (after all, they ARE just animals...).

It's an interesting idea....
Most Houses, however, might shy from the idea of creating yet another possible sentient threat to Humanity if the mutants ran rogue(look waht happened when humans gave machines full rights, after all...)...They see nothing wrong with creating particularly clever animals like canines and mounts, as long as those creatures require HUMAN direction for anything more complex than taking a leak...
HOWEVER, there's always a few guys who either through desperation or because they really think it's a keen idea, will embrace the idea of mutant animal shocktroopers or even a whole second front of beings to confuse the issue with the Machine...A House of two might create mutant animal legions as their proprietary biotech and ace on the hole. This might lead to the idea being adopted by other Houses, or result in the originated House being censured(cut off from trade and information-sharing) or worse, depending on others see the development of new sentients meant expressly for combat.

In a game with 10 OCC choices (and two of those - the Saint and Scarecrow - more likely to be used as NPC's), I would imagine that adding mutant animals as a different configurable RCC for use with the Biotic OCC might be considered as a good thing.
Plus, it would be keeping fairly in line with the more sci-fi feel of Splicers.

Re: Mutants made by the machine?
BladeWeaver wrote:It could be possible that the machine created the mutants. Were-Cats would be a great tool in tracking and hunting Rats. Again this is one of the Prime Directives. What about Were-Dogs to hunt the human Rats?
I could see a Lone-Star type complex being run by the machine creating legions of Bio-logicals to hunt humans. Much like Lone-Star created the Xiticix Hunter the machine could create a "Rat" Hunter.
Of course from there you would have to SAVE the poor creatures from the control of the machine. Life is life right?
Ah, and the moral crisis....Do I save these poor deluded products of the Machine who are themselves fellow sentient lifeforms, misguided and twisted to evil ends, or do I pull this trigger and blow those demented little puppies to grease-spatter?

Gaia may already use mutants to watch over her Nature Preserves. She does not allow robots in them, so who or what is she using as her rangers or watchers?
She may have also planted a gene in her creatures that may have caused a humaniod mutation to happen by mistake when the Resistance started to play with their DNA.

Hmm Mutant in splicers. The thought is interesting.
Sincerely I think they could form a thirdn faction in game. (we really need a thrid faction in this game , thing get boring easily shooting at tincans all the day).
I've to admit when i read this topic I first thought about superpowered mutants(HU style), but mutant animals will work smoothly.
As for gaia , yes she could use mutan animals. But I personally figured that she probably make use of partial cyborg animals. Example dinasaurs. a little nerual implant, some long range weapon, perhaps a slight cyberplating and voilà a superintelligent cyber raptor ready to bite the filthy splcier's ass. Adn legs, and arms and heads. You got the idea.
Probably she woudl combine the two things(cyber mutat animals? why not.)

Or perhaps just an implant a la the Ratbombs to that if for some reason the mutant decided to go against her wishes, its brains went "kablooie."

But looking out for animals and nature means expressly you wouldn't do it. Kali, Lillith & Hecate might be up for it, but he notion would disgust Gaia.
Tink of Gaia as what would happen if you put a PETA member in charge of the world. No animal testing, no animal byproducts... no insulin, etc... It would have been hard enough wrangling for her to be "sold" on the idea of rodents with bombs in them.
So personal theory? Nexus wouldn't be likely to use organic weaponry, or much of it, or radically alter the natural lifeforms, that'd be the work of the Splicers themselves...
Alternately, the Splicers already have items for that end. A mutant animal could be viewed as either a radically new form of WarMount, or a a Biotic so heavily altered, they appear to be more animal than human.

Actually this suddenly make Gaia the weakest of the seven. Because she does not have any chance of "personal" troops. In case of war between the seven sisters she would be at the lower stick. I mean if Hecate decide she need to expand her factories OVER Gaia's forest what she coudl possibly do? Yell at her, raise a protest with virtual sign?
