Who Might Travel With A Cosmo-Knight?

Unread post by LostOne »

Cosmo-Knights are extremely powerful as a PC. Assuming a player chooses to play one from the beginning of a "cosmic-level" game, what are some other character ideas that would be around the same power level that wouldn't be completely outclassed by it?

A few things I have thought of:

Lizard Mage (Conversion Book)

Holy Terror (Wormwood)

Godling (Pantheons)

Apok (from Wormwood, maybe make the godling be an apok)

Achilles Neo-Human (south america 2)

Phaeton Juicer (JU) or Machine Person (Phase) uber-pilot in a powerful power armor like the silverhawk

Wolfen Quatoria (phase world)

Anti-Monster, likely with extra cybernetics (south america 1)

Bio-Borg (splynn) or Splugorth Juicer (JU), likely with extra bio-wizardry or symbiotes and starting with a better race than a normal human.

Invincible Guardsman (Phase world sourcebook)

Edited for spelling.

In a game I play in one Demi-god who happens to be a son of Odin. And he's a Temporal wizard, without the quirks because dear old dad wouldn't want his son to be insane.
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"

"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

"As you will it, your Grace."

I've got a group of characters who work together. Their nickname is the "god squad." One is a CK, one is a mega hero. The others are back home. I just always laughed because one of the is a martial artist with both body chi and dragon chi and of course body hardening. They are a team I pass out at conventions.

So are these pretty much it? Or does anyone know of anything else roughly the same power level as a CK?

What about a Biform Whale singer who happens to be a Blue Whale or maybe even a Sperm Whale.

Going to look at these again, but I'm fairly sure the sea titan is an RCC.

Going to have to look the Archemeides up, not remembering it. It's been a couple years since I've looked at Pantheons.

Not remembering these. Where are they?

Yeah, I'd say those would fit in well. :)

Although I don't have Mercenary Adventures, haven't even seen that one on the shelf. That class sounds intriguing, to say the least.

I'm not sure why everyone keeps mentioning this. Reread the first post. It is for a "cosmic-level" game, meaning powerful characters. So obviously I'm preparing for a power-level game.

It's clear other people aren't reading the first post either (reposting half the list of the first three posts qualifies). Why reply to a thread if you don't even read the first few posts?

Sorry if I'm coming across a bit cranky, I'm jetlagged.

without looking at any of the posts in this thread. my answer;
ANYONE!
Jeez..who cares anyways.. it's a fracking RPG. Reality does NOT come into play.
Look at Dr. Who: A bloody minimum-wage ordinary blonde teenager from London travels with the last remaining Timelord for pitys sake!
Starwars:Two dysfunctional and cyber-mad droids travel with the hope for the Jedi (along with a princess, gambler, smuggler, and walking carpet).

I personally would stick a CK as the babysitter to a bunch of City Rats and a Vagabond who are supposedly destined to find the Cosmic Forge. It would be like herding cats for the CK while defending them against everyone who wants a piece of the Forge.

If you wanted to run a power game, let people choose any RCC/OCC they want, but give them Dreadguard Host Armor from Splicers and a nutrient bath for the armor. Since the armor gets more powerful per level and can be fully customized, the other players will not feel underpowered. Seriously, a human spacer in host armor would be a fine travelling companion for a CK.

Hmm....a Promethean Biotic with Dragonscale armor? It think that would easily be 400 MDC with massive regeneration.

I don't have Splicers, but the armor sounds neat. I'll have to see if I can get my hands on it.

Not familiar with the Biotics or Dragonscale armor. Are those also from Splicers?

Splicers is tres coolio because you can customize your armor to such an enormous extent that two characters of the identical OCC could be extremely different based on how the specialized the creation of their host armor.

Splicers stuff is very powerful because the OCCs are built to face off against robots, often one on one. I would personally reduce the MDC or the Bio-E available for a standard Rifts or Phase World game, but if you are looking for buddies for a CK, you may want to keep them as is.

LostOne wrote:Not familiar with the Biotics or Dragonscale armor. Are those also from Splicers?

Yessir! The Biotics are human beings who have been dipped into a goo created by these alien-hybrids called Librarians and Engineers and they literally redesign the human into a bio-tech warmachine. The Biotics suffer some insanity, loss of memory and other issues, but hey, they get splicer / robotic level strength.

I am pretty sure it's called Dragonscale armor, but it is a heavy Living Body Armor that has a good MDC and can also be upgraded using Bio-E. I think it's -20% prowl, but it has its own regen system and most come with weapon systems as well. Also, the hand held weapons in Splicers hold up well against most of the stuff you find in the Phase World core book. I am personally a fan of weapons that bore into foes or use corrosive acids that do damage for multiple melees.

Other than Biotics, there is a cool OCC called the Outrider and he has his own biological tank called a warmount. Rifter 30 or 32 had several additional ones and they can be grotesquely powerful. Imagine a pet elephant with 600 MDC and six howitzers that fire its own explosive poo pellets. Yes...I said howitzers...

High level cosmic games in the 3Gs can easily be fitted into the standard player groups used in other games.

Knight/Palladin-Cosmo Knight, Blaze Alien

Thief/Assassin-Oni Ninja. Give them a Oni ship, high end equipment and they are on the same power level as the CK. They can't win a standup fight with a CK, but they can get in places they can't, just like a Thief compared to a Knight.

Healer/Support Psychic-Noro with a CAF Science/Medical background. Again, equipment can make up the gaps. They aren't the heavy hitter, but the support chracter.

Ranger/Scout-Wolfen Star Marshal

Warrior/Soldier/Close in Fighter-True Atlantean Undead Slayer. Not exactly a 3Gs class, but they are already established there. Even something like a Space Minotaur, Scraypers Mutant, Imperial Guardsman.

Longbowman/Longrange Fighter-Turbo Jockey in a Avenger or Silverhawk, or a Warlock Marine.

Operator/Pilot-Machine Man

Mind Melter/Psychic-Promethian Phase Adept/Mystic

Mage-Silhoutte, High Elf, Godling, or whatever else you want.

Any of these guys would whip up on the standard Rifts, or PF version of their archtype in their given field. Depending on the mix your group needs you can pick and chose. These examples were not meant to be an exhaustive list, but a few suggestions of who can run with a CK.

Very nice.
The key to a good adventuring party is flexibility.
SOMEONE has to off-set the CK's righteousness, and still be able to operate under his nose.
I'm sure a CK can appreciate the shadier side of life, just along as no one gets killed <read innocents>.

This is the quintessential problem with havin paladins in your party from DnD...there's what we CAN do, and what the pally won't LET us do...

That is what the Oni is for:) Even the Star Ranger can be the tough, and somewhat rough, hard nosed cop with a dark view of the world, but a heart of gold.
