Are Atemi Powers Non-mundane?

I was having a debate with someone as to whether or not the Atemi abilities are "non-mundane." I use this unwieldly term because mystical or supernatural confuses the issue in Palladium, so I'm trying to avoid those terms in the discussion.

My opinion is that the Atemi MAPs are chi-based, and non-mundane. The simple reason is that you can't do that stuff in "real life", so there must be a spiritual element involved. Although. like the Zenjorike powers, chi isn't necessary to use most of the powers, chi is still the foundation for their use.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you on this one. They're not chi based, though they can affect chi. Certainly several, especially the advanced atemi found in Mystic China aren't "real life" stuff, but there are several based on real world strikes and techniques, just modified to reflect game mechanics.

I'd consider them similar to "Combat Feng Shui" or "Combat Accupressure". They are purely physical. However, like Feng Shui, the positioning (or damaging) of physical objects can affect the flow of Chi.
