Green arrows origins
So I'm watching smallville (yes I know smallville what a kids show but I like it) and the green arrow on it is rich and thats where all his stuff comes from kinda like batman. So is it like that in the comic? Is he like less broody batman or what?

Yep, he's broody, a bit of a snot, a bit more extreme, rich and uses gadgets.
He's the Smallville Batman, because Batman, as we all know has a very specific origin and the royalties to him would cost a MINT.
Not only that, adding Batman to the show would take away from the primary hero. Superman.
So, for the time being GreenArrow is filling that slot in the JLA.

From the Wiki
With a nickname coined by the press, Green Arrow and his sidekick Speedy made it their mission to protect Star City. He took his cue from Batman and built his own "Arrow Cave," complete with an "Arrow Car" and allegedly a yellow submarine. He and Speedy fought with trick arrows that were designed to be non-lethal. Green Arrow joined the Justice League of America and soon fell in love with member Black Canary (even though he was almost twice her age). Unbeknownst to the rest of the League members, in the early days Queen was one of the major financial backers of the team. He was also the only one that objected when the team relocated to a space station in orbit, feeling that they were too far removed from the people they were meant to protect. In the ensuing year after losing his fortune, Ollie traveled the country with Green Lantern Hal Jordan while his left-behind ward dabbled with drugs that caused the two to go their separate ways.

He's a Golden Age character man -- and he's one that's been through many, many revisions. He's had his ups and downs like any DC character. All in all I like him, but not all aspects of him. He modernizes well.

it was greeen arrow or the question and smallvill wasnt willing to
hire some one with enough acting skill to be the question
Svartalf- if Cherico were a character created in a point game system, he'd have all his scores in geeky skills and his youtube and weird net stuff schticks all paid through a a Terminal Bad Luck (with more nasty GM intervention) disadvantage, and probably an Uncouth (can not have social skills) disad as well...

/shrug, I think the guy playing Ollie is awesome myself. He's totally brought back my love for the show. Best thing to happen to Smallville in years.

Yea but even in the golden age comics I thought it was kinda looked down upon to blatantely rip off another comic hero from the same corporation (DC)

And don't get me wrong ollie on the show is great. I enjoy his parts more than clark the main character. Of course it could just be that I always did prefer batmans mortality to supermans moral complexes.
I mainly just wanted to know if there were any big differences between ollie on smallville and ollie in the dc comic. Like how to be correct on the generations thing it would be wally west or barry allen as flash not bart as impluse with a young clark, ac, and from what I've seen of him on comic book covers ollie.

The Smallville GA is a better rendered character then the DC comics version. He's a whole, intigrated thing rather then the peicemeal character that the comics portrayed. The show has done an excellent job with the character.

Yeah, and on the show he doesn't have an "Arrow cave" he has a sort of base thing in a clocktower. He calls Watchtower or something.
I do love that they carry the Green theme to his stuff though. Superhero's are SUPPOSED To have themes.
I mean you always see clark in red and blue. You always see the green arrow in green and black, You see Impulse in red and yellow.
Good stuff.

His Batman kind of origin is a lot better then the original Green Arrow.
He studied archery as part of his studies of American Indians
ways. He collected artifacts for a museum which ended up destroyed
by a fire, so he goes to Lost Mesa to explore the remains. A waiter turned
criminal follows him looking for gold. Queen and his young partner
defeat the criminals and decide to become a super hero duo because
Oliver decided from his experience that it was wrong to hide from evil
by going out on expeditions.
Or if you prefere the millionaire playboy whose ship gets attacked by
pirates. He gets knocked out and falls overboard. He swims to a
deserted island and learns to hunt with a makeshift bow. Later the
pirates show up on the island and he defeats them. He gets inspired
to fight criminals because of his victory.
Ah I'll take the Batman kind of origin.

I am a huge DC fan,and the boyscout is my childhood and still current favorite, but I got to admit,i Get a little giddy when i see the two of them on in the same scene, I like the idea that GA stuck around a bit longer then impulse, cyborg and aquaman, kind of took me by surprise when he was back just one episode later considering the others made their entrance and exit in the same episode.
I like this Ga although if they continue down this line I see either Speedy being impulse where the name would actually make since or at least change his partners nick,I always thought that had to be one of the stupidest hero names in all time.
