The shepherd drives the wolf from the sheep's for which the sheep thanks the shepherd as his liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act as the destroyer of liberty. Plainly, the sheep and the wolf are not agreed upon a definition of liberty.

My vote is for the Republicans. While Archie-3 has always been one of my favorite Rifts villians he is imo hampered by his insanity not to mention his equal evil and insane Hagan.
While it's still to early to say what is the general disposition of the Republicans I see them being more of a threat as they actually follow through with their plans. Archie on the other hand will change his mind from one moment to the next.

Umm, why would NEMA troops attack the CS at all?
"Sir the world is overrun with demons and aliens."
"So what, those fellow humans ruling the most powerful nation in N. America are a bunch of Nazi lovers, we'll get them first!"
Yeah I see that happening.
More like...
"Sir, the worlds overrun with demons, aliens and theres some kind of proto-Nazi government in the Mid-west."
"Well sh*t, we'll set up base here, establish a safe zone from the monsters (as much as possible), and begin establishing our own government. If those guys in Illinois give us any trouble THEN we will deal with them."

AS much as I'd love to see the Republicans win, ARCHIE knows more about the world, while the Republicans have royally flubbed their exercises at social engineering....
Furthermore, in true Palladium Books fashion, the Republicans have probably mutated mentally from 'restore law and order and a continental civilzation' to 'take everything back for humans regardless of how many generations of peaceful d-bees have been born on American soil'(their beef being that the CS they helped out is now opressing HUMANS just as bad as the non-humans, and deliberately copying the Nazis' tactics...and the Republicans most likley have histories of WW2 drummed into their skulls from an early age...).
The 'Contrivance' has the upper hand, here, I'm afraid...

odds are the Republicans have NORAD and whatever hightech stuff the US built into the surrounding mountains. (probably just arms depots and survival shelters.)
it would explain why no one ever finds it despite the fact the facility should be simple to track down. lots of people find it, it's just they never leave....

Hard to tell at this point whom to side with but my natural inclination is to go with Archie.
While I like all the material we have seen from the pre-views of the new source book one, I have to point out that it throws out certain key points of Archie's from the original source book one.
That being said should we treat the conflicting information from the original as null and void?

Evidence seem to support that they are based out East:
1. They apparently were using D.C. as a base of operation or at least a base before getting kicked out by Archie.
2. Archie has been battling them for years, he has no powerbase out West.
3. The Republican scout in a HL&S in Adventures in Dinosaur Swamp is said to have a Boston accent. This may hint to the fact that they are based around or near the old Boston area.

Virginia is strangely quiet, so is eastern shores of Maryland and Delaware.
an accent may point to another part of the country, but it could also not be the case. the scout could be a former sleeper from 21st century boston too.

Really, I agree with everything Nxla just wrote. However, I think that Archie-3 is one of Kevin's big "no mess with" story elements.
Thou shalt not mess with the CS, Erin Tarn, Splynncryth or Archie-3. They are blessed in his sight, and will not ever fall, or actually come into direct conflict with any of their likewise elevated bretheren.

First off...I doubt that the NEMA "sleepers" are untrained, unexperienced green horns.
Even if they were awakened by the Republicans, they'd most likely do a little intel gathering on their own. Besides which, following the chain of command, they wouldn't allow their forces to be led by someone who isn't NEMA command. Period. End of story.
NEMA will spend the time creating a strong hold. They will expand their forces. They will gather support. And they will want to bring back Peace, Love, and the American Empire...
They might even join forces with ARCHIE3 is he plays his cards right...

That is probably true, NEMA fought a war the Coalition lives one.

I didn't mean to make it sound like I thought NEMA was a bunch of rookies...but I did mean to infer that the difference in Coalition Military experience and NEMA combat experience is huge and in favor of the Coalition. NEMA may have fought hard during Apocalypse, but the CS has been building a military and fighting a constant battle against both the supernatural and humans for a long time. The difference between the two groups' knowledge is pretty massive...and not even salvaged pre-Rifts NEMA tech would save them should the two forces come to blows.
Maybe NEMA will hide out in Xiticix territory?
Or maybe they'll suddenly have the resources to create millions of PA. Oh...oh...maybe they'll just do everything they can to NOT get used to being in a post-apocolyptic world!
I don't think that the Coalition really has that much of a jump, tactics wise, on a group of soldiers who not only have the entirety of military history to go on (remember, these guys were trained before history got lost) vs. the Coalition who tends to rewrite history the way they want it to be...

The Way I see it if Republicans get the sleepers,They will go against the FofM.
Archie think this will get the Splugorth invaded some thing he das not have a plan for.
I think The Republicans and Nema,s Sleepers will see the FofM as the bigest danger, ther a Kingdom of Demons and Evil Magic users.
Yes the CS is Nazi-like BUT THER HUMAN!
It,s That Humans stay the Majorty in North America that is the Long-therm Goal.
The Republicans and Nema been devoted to the protection and presoervation of humankind.
It will be Out of Character and just duwm,if you have them face the CS as long ther ther are Big Non-Human dangers like the FofM,the Xiticix and others.

A few have said that the Republicans would join with the CS being the lesser of two evils. I would say the would do the opposite. Imo the CS stand for everything the Republicans stand for. After all they come from a time when attitudes and ways of thinking are different.
Second with a name like the Repulicans do you think they would honestly join up with a bunch of fascists led by a psychotic fascist. No way imo. Especially not when it's because of Karl Prosek that their second attempt to recreate something resembling the pre-USA failed. Many people conivinently forget that the CS is a fascist government.
Finally the only other enemy that the Republicans would go after is the FOM because it was the second contributing factor to the creation of the CS and another party responsible for the failure of their dream. In the end they are only on one side their own.

When I step out of line the mods do their jobs. I don't benefit from some sort of special protection.
Palladium can't be given a free pass for criticism because people have a lot of emotion invested in it.
Pathfinder is good. It is not the second coming of D&D.

History rewritten by Sureshot
the republicans laid the foundation of Chi-town, FOM attacked chi-town, Chi-town and other forces attacked the FOM a young joseph prosek come into his own and was elected and odds are ruled by the rule of law , (since because of death and the motivational behind it had to do with his own assistant unable to get her family in the safety of chi-town, because of the law) which lead to karl prosek doing a underground grass route movement to get him elected and after that he was.
just one more note if Dunscon ever found out Republicans were the one behind his father assassination, then Archie would be the least of their problems

Everything that we talk about is speculation at this time of course.
If the Republicans are a good group of people whose only interest is helping humanity then I am with them. If they are just as crazy as Archie & Hagan then I wouldn't vote for either of them. That being the case I would just hope that they both go away.
Now, if the sleepers get awoken I think it would be cool to have them hidden for a while so that they can first gather their bearings & then have then take over Archie (well, they are going to have to have manufacturing capabilities). Then in time they could be a force to be reckoned with. Or, as someone else stated they could try and hook up with the New Navy.
I had posted in another post about a hook line and sinker that was in the Juicer Uprising book about sleepers and took this as the basis for another group located out in the west. Due to the fact that they are from before the time of the rifts or at least when it started they would still have access codes for the satellites in space which would give them the ability to contact groups like the New Navy. Maybe they could then start working with them to help try and restore humanity.

Actually, for me, it's *NOT* speculative. I've got the book!

Petrified wood just because we could.
