That looks pretty cool! And it looks like it was borrowed by the NE.
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"
"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

A few Corrections from one of the Boards "Gun Nuts" . First off the MP-40 is not a Heugo Schmeisser design, it was designed by Heinrich Vollmer. Schmeisser just made magazines for it.
It's FN-Fal not FN-NAL.
Beretta never made a copy of the M-3/M-3A1 "Greasegun". They did Make their own Model 12 that is alot better than the grease gun.
other than that it's a nice start to a list. Personally I would love to see the Sterling L2A3 make the list( partly because of family history and partly because it's the basis of the Storm Trooper Blaster from Star Wars).

Braden is trying out some multi weapon designs for Thundercloud Galaxy. They are based off the GR15-AR in the original PW.

I think the Profanity Filter needs adjusting because it thinks that c*ck means the same thing as the word Gun. As in "This is my Rifle, this is my gun, this is for fighting and this is for fun."

Hmm for the NE Classic series in general, shouldnt it be more or less possible then to make various MGs that fire NE rounds?
Though I would assume one would still have to use the smallest cartridges available or risk melting the barrel. Like maybe every time you do a full melee burst there's a cumulative percentile chance the barrel will melt or something.

I take it you are looking for the Colt Automatic Rifle or something similar. I can tell you that there is a rumored Quick Change Barrel version on the way.

So now that MP-10 or MP-23 can fire MD without modifications.
The Gyrocs in GURPS are awesome. I just love being able to mimic the Stainless Steel Rat's .75 cal recoilless pistol.
Guess I'll just make a "micro-missile" pistol, that has .50 cal micro missiles that do 1D4x10 MD. Nice clip o' 10 missiles. Make it a specialty item.
(expensive ammo)
You could just take the micro missile munitions out of Aliens unlimited and convert it to MDC. Theres a few other nifty munition types. Though some of them if converted as is to MDC are a touch munchie to say the least.
Others however, would convert quite well in comparision to the weapons available in PW and in 109PA in general

If you look into Naruni phase two Naruni has plasma cartridges for pistols why not machine guns. They do about 2or 3 d6 per slug. You may have to be carefull about heat though it could melt the barrel of the average machine gun.

A decade or two ago and they might have been able to win the SAW competition.

Well if I recall the designation correctly, things like the M249 SAW which is an LMG.
Often just called the SAW. But there's a few others that fall under that sort of catagory. As I understand it it's usually an LMG or an assault rifle that can double as an LMG generally by having full auto capabilties, a bipod and optional ammo drums/clips etc.
Also on the earlier question on guns that can swap ammo types. This is something that can and has been done. WW2 I belive it was, the allies developed an adapter for some of the SMGs. I think one was the Sten, that would allow the weapons to fire the german 9mm ammunition, as it at least, at the time wasnt the same size as the 9mm ammo they used.
Theres a few examples of this in general. Normally however the adaptation is for very similar sized rounds.
If you want a rifts example however, just look at the NE-75H which has a 'conversion kit' to allow it to fire standard catridges. Assumably this would incorporate at least a breach modification, a barrel insert or replacement, and probably a magazine well insert to accomodate a smaller sized clip.
But I'm just guessing on that one.
Darkmax wrote:besides being a tool to cut trees down, that's the other description of a SAW that I know of.... a machine-gun.
Well there you go. Or if that doesnt click it for you then basically what it is is this.
Anytime pretty much any military requires or at least desires new weapons, be it something all new, or simply a replacement for older weapons they hold a competition between providers.
In this instance it's specifically for a weapon that is classifed as a S.A.W. As oppoed to say, pistols, assault rifles, carbines, sniper rifles, body armor, armored vehicles etc.
Quite litterally various manufactuers 'compete' against each other in trying to prove their product is best for the price and the price is what the military bean counters are looking for.
This often involves sending over a sampling of the new device in question, showing them off, allowing the potential customer to try it out and then opening up with a bid. Like.. ok we'll sell you 10,000 of these for $1 million dollars.
Some one else comes along does the same thing and says I'll give you 10,000 of ours for 980k
Basically if there's interest shown in more than one device a bidding war then ensues untill one supplier will no longer undercut the other(s) and that winds up generally being the winning bid.
Thats at least the basic theory behind it. Actual practices tend to be considerably different. Since some times there's abit of a bias for one supplier over another, or it's just rigged because the buyer really wants to buy such and such a companies product regardless of the fact that the competitor could perhaps not only offer a superior or equal product, but at a cheaper price.
But thats politics for you.

Suposedly it's able to safely fire the aproximatly .72 caliber 12 gauge round. Personally as a user and occational gunsmith of 12 gauge shotguns I don't think so. While there is such a weapon as a squeezebore, the concept was declared obsolite by the Germans in WWII.
As for SAWs they could be a practical choice to add to Narui's line of Old Earth products.

That new auto shotgun they had on "Future Weapons" looked pretty wicked. And the grenades for it looked pretty nifty too!

Looks like some one took a page out of the book written by the guys who invented the Pancor shotgun. Pretty much identical drum system by the looks of it.
The rest of the similarities end there however as the Pancor was a bullpup. And at least supposedly has some really good accuracy and recoil comp in part thanks to some sorta 'floating barrel'. Dont really know what that's all about though. Accurate info on the Pancor seems to be hard to come by.

Last I heard the Pancor was dead. The development process had run out of money before all the quirks had been ironed out. The design had been sold a couple of times but nobody has been able to turn it into a commercially viable weapon.

Oh yeah it's been dead for years but they did turn out a 'final product'. There's a few examples of them floating around along with a few prototypes. A few more that arnt entirely 'real' guns made for holywood movies.
Last one I saw was going for 10k USD.
I wouldnt be supprised if the system still has a few kinks though. I was just commenting on how it reminded me of the pancor. Which personally I allways liked the concept of at least. Since it was intended to be able to handle a rather astounding array of munition types.

Darkmax wrote:are you talking about a documentary on future weapons?
Its not really a documentary. Its a TV series that covered assorted armor/weapons etc. Most of which have actually been in development for a long time now. Others that have only recently hit the 'general' military market. Stuff like the Predator spy drone etc.
Not a damn thing on that show was actually really new or had the slightest thing to do with 'futuristic' weapons. Well cept perhaps the Predator as spy drones are becomming increasingly common, but thats been an on going trend for years, the only thing thats changed is their capabilities, size etc and even thats just been a relatively slow evolution built on old ideas.
Course anything that really counts for such a title is more than likely still classified. Also some of those displays were a touch rigged. Like the whole 'Dragon Skin' or scale what ever armor. There's qutie a number of very good raesons they've failed to land several military supply contracts and they've whined about the armor not being tested 'according to manufacturer specifications'.
You know.. as if the body armor would never get mistreated by the common grunt and thus cause some likely severe damage to the ceramic disks well before they had to stop bullets. To me if you cant technically play football in the mud with body armor and still have it work well then it's not worth using.
