Good point. A modified fighting gi would make for a decent costume, too.
Personally, I find that a man wearing nothing but small "hero" shorts looks really, really exposed. Perhaps moreso than a similarly dressed female. However, I'll agree on the matter of body suits.
I don't know about "hero" shorts?
But the shorts boxers wear look good on them(though being oiled up helps... )
thogh iwould want to be them on a cold day....

Wow, you make it sound like what I did was a crime. I play in a lot of games and I don't always have the time to develop a complete setting. City of Heroes is a MMORPG, an online RPG game. We are playing a RPG game. I am just choosing to use that setting but with the mechanics of my choice. I don't see how that is a negative thing.
Next thing you will tell me I can't use the Rifts setting because I didn't come up with that. KS created it but I can't use his ideas.
I am sure the makers of that pertickler game might. They are funny like that. Rifts is different because it is ackshully a Palladium game.

I pay my $15 a month to play the game so as long as I am not turning a profit or claiming I created the setting then I should be able to do with it what I want.

Or Photon?
It wouldn't do any of them a lick of good and more than likely would get in the way.
As far as guys, I know Reed Richards has the unstable molecule clothing and all that, but that's always been silly. He'd never be able to wear real armor and use his powers, same for any other female character who stretches.
Oh, and what about someone like she-hulk, or a female character with the power giant. Who makes armor for someone who'se 9 feet tall? Let alone someone who grows to 60 feet tall!
Why? Nothing Superman wears is functional. It's all style for him. He could just as easily wear that, but he would be confused for an exotic dancer.
Then why NOT where something along the lines of WonderWomans?

That was back when Reed was making everyone outfits out of unstable molecules, their way of getting around the destruction of uniforms when powers kicked in. It has been less popular to give them such in recent years.

hmm, iirc the bullet proof X-uniform was actually a Forge enhancement of the Reed design, circa uncanny 260's

Superman in a Wonder Woman costume and you're confused. I'd think the stiletto heels and crazy bathing suit stuff on Superman would look disturbing on so many levels.
Nahh, high heels were originally made for men.

maybe not, but they WERE the high fashion for the courts and Royalty from the various countries in Europe. along with high on the head, powdered white wigs for ladies and the overly curly long tresses similar to what some of the British judges wear. then, lets not forget all the 'dresses' still being worn by the various Clergy about the world.
strange huh? ... and i rambled. what was i gonna say about the topic again?
OK, the industry by and large has women in slinkier and slinkier costumes. Now yes, the men are often in outfits just as tight, but by and large they're very rarely actually revealing.
Now with that said, I can understand part of the logic behind costumes (I normally chalk them up to being made out of the same material as a swimmer or skiier uses with the same basic purposes when they don't have access to super-fabrics) but do you all keep your women slinked and kinked out as they are in the comics (and in the concept art for HU most of the time) or do they get to go outside without instantly freezing to death?
i dont think that any of my chars wear the skin tight outfits. i personally find the idea that female char's have to run about in bikini's to fight crime.
.. okay MAYBE one now, IF its the 'high fashion thing' .. but that MIGHT be pushing it. she's recently become this fashion plate, and if fashion says its the thing to do, she'll give it a good hard look, and IF she thinks it would look good on her, might buy one.
otherwise? .. i think the occasional one might wear a mini with boots, so .. *shrugs*

Perhaps if you take it as an insult, it can be construed as such. I was merely making an observation. I am considered quite a geek by many, and I was simply stating that to know minute facts on trivial things such as this would make me consider myself one beyond the point of no return.

Platform shooes and much of the ghlam rock era illustrate then men can dress just as flashily, if not moreso, than women. And there was a point in the area of rock where men were trying to get attentiion by dressing as women or similar to what women wear. It is also a proven fact that most crossdressers are straight. DUDE! You seriously need to get a collection going. My books are as follows:
HU2
PU1, 2 and 3
AU and AUGG
PB Compendium of Contemporary Weapons
N&SS and Mystic China( good additional bionics)
PF2, Monsters and Animals, and Dragons and Gods
After The Bomb RPG( awaiting actually, in mail)
while i agree with the sentiment .. i'll just change the DUDE to DUDETTE .. and we're good ...
