how to phrase this right w/o the book in front of me......unless the soul-drinker causes bleeding, it can not drink a soul.

I might add to that (opinion here), that unless the sd rune weapon touches the blood it casues to bleed, (internale bleeding dosen't count) souldringking can't happen.

Drew is correct that the soul drinker needs to cause bleeding (Atlantis, pg 128). However, they have the Necron Staff which is a Souldrinking blunt staff... (Atlantis, pg 130 and illustrated on 131). So based on this (and the 30% that are NOT blades as Bob pointed out), I'd say go ahead and have your soul drinking staff. Ya just gotta throttle people hard enough with it to make them BLEED! :D
Be at peace, my people. All shall be looked up.

to clarify the wielders does not become possessed the next victim of the soul drink does by the essence fragment
as to the soulless minion thing it is a little more difficult the staff has to draw blood (not as easy with a staff as it would be with say a sword) and all the victim needs to save is a fourteen or better but for the purpose of the story line i could lower the number to say ten giving them a fifty fifty shot right off the bat and if they have any plus vs. magic all the better :clown:

For all that power, the save against the soul drinking should be low. I'm also not seeing the curse as a curse, or maybe I misread something there.

From what I gather, it's not so much a curse, but a plot to bring forth another alien intelligence into the world. This explains the rapid PPE growth and easy zombie slave making.

I think Bob intended for the rune staff to be a plot device more than anything else (and he probably has a way to take it away from the PC's when needed)

Sorry if this has already been addressed, for I am lazy and didn't read the rest of the thread! :D

Bob, I think it sounds like a good plot device to me!
