you can parry up to three opponents per melee. with paired weapons you can parry opponents who also have parried weapons.. normally you would only be able to parry one of the attacks/weapons, but with paired weapons you are able to parry that second weapon.
did i explain that well enough?

Re: A question about parrying
If you've got paired weapons you can only parry up to two attackers per melee segment* (pretty much a term which had to be used to describe the sequence of events in combat where everyone does their attack/action for that part of melee combat before play switches back to the person with the highest initiative), whereas if you aren't using paired weapons, you can parry up to three attackers during that segment*. There's no debate about the wording, no room for "interpretation," nothing, it's cut and dry. Now it's true that it makes no sense, but that's the material.lbrown7433 wrote:In the ultimate edition of rifts under parried weapons it states that a person fighting three or more opponents can parry two of those if they have parried weapons and the rest would have to be taken or dodged. However further in the book pg. 342 under two against one it states that you can parry up to three incoming attacks. Which is it and what is the point of parried weapons if you can already parry up to three different opponents?
*Within the normal limits for parries, that is, if the attack can be parried.

<ironic mode>Don't you know? Jet Li movies are fiction, PB rules are for "actual" combat.</ironic mode>

Do the same applies when parrying with a shield and using paired weapons? (I don't know if I'm making a ridiculous question)
