ideas for this great game

Unread post by krispy »

here are just a couple of ideas i have put into my game. I have left the Bio-E cost and damages out so if you like the ideas you can adjust them the way you see fit

a "Modified Miniature Organic Thruster" - not for the purpose of flight but for the purpose of Pneumatics (a pneumatic pump/generator)

e.g - Forearm Mounted Pneumatic Quill/Tusk/Spike Launcher - which increases the velocity of the projectile and therfore increasing the damage

A forearm mounted or mouth modified "Pneumatic Maw"

you could also incorporate the pneumatic pump to increase the distance of many ranged weapons e.g. Flame/Plasma breath

I love the Kraken design. When it described that they tried to modify seeds but they were unable to overcome the water pressure.
I thought why do you have to go underwater, you could just float on the surface & go far enough away from the coastlines to be relatively safe from the machine

I got to thinking about something like a giant jelly fish with a hard carapace. Defenses are up to the imagination

Boneblade Upgrade - the muscular system of many flying insects have an amazing contractile velocity and power output. Similar musculature is attached to the boneblades making them vibrate (yes an organic version of vibroblades) and therefore increaseing the damage capacity of the blades
you could cap the ability (duration) of the muscles to provide the extra damage by factoring in fatigue of the muscles

explanation for this upgrade - in humans, one factor that determines the strength (force production) of our muscles is "frequency of nerve impulses" being sent to the muscle. our muscle have to continually be told to contract
In flying insects their wing muscles basically have an on/off switch, one signal (not continuous signals) gets sent to the wing muscle to start, and they continue to contract until a second signal gets sent to tell them to stop

the problem with having just a floating island is that N.E.X.U.S. and the Machine do have an airforce and could just bombard the island/jellyfish out of existance. With the Kraken, you can hid.. err strategically retreat out of the Machines sight!.

Welcome to the boards krispy.

I noticed that you focused your pneumatic idea on the concept of weapons, but the first thing I thought of was industrial construction. Pneumatics by it's very nature allows for a slow increase in force (relatively speaking), and while that can give an increase to the power behind a fired quill it would have a much more profound effect in the area of Haven construction.

I had an idea similar to yours about the jellyfish but as NMI has pointed out its just to easy of a target for the Machine to hit, so, my solution was to use the bell of the jellyfish like a large dome on a sea bed city!

Anyway, keep throwing those ideas out here, the more fans contribute the better this setting gets.

Or with the armored jelly idea, it could be used as a submersible carrier/assault platform. It rises up out of the waves, launches its cargo/weaponry, and sinks back down under the waves. If it gets blown to bits, it could have a chance to reform after 1d4 months or something, that way it won't be such a worry if it gets squished.

Or maybe as a giant assault stomach, a way to fight those prototype bots that the machine has sent out under the waters. Just use the electrified tenticles to shock the bajeezus out of the bot before pulling it into the slobbering maw.

OOH! How about a land based asault critter? It crawls out onto the tide line, and plows into the ground troops, and goos them up in order to prevent effective movement. Give it acidic touch, maybe some thorny tenticles, and lighting blaster, and you got a decent assault critter.
You'd be suprised at what the G.M. will allow with a little blackmail and bribery...

True...I picture something like a giant ox heart and a very practical tool, but somehow this sounds....kinky... :D

Your whole post was inspired and brilliant insanity! You gotta write those up for the Rifter. I love the idea of a regenerating "submersible carrier / assault platform"!!!
