Pick up Rifter #40 for a preveiw of PBs up coming Zombie Apocalypse game called (at this point) Dead Reign, its both usable for what you want and playable itself, though 'till its book comes out you need the BtS book.

Or just Wing it!
My group did when we gave DR a spin. We made PCs based on our selves, spread 90 points over the 8 attributes, and selected skills based on our real life skill set. It was quick generation and the game was a blast! :ok:

Watch "28 days" and "28 Weeks later".

While not technicly Zombies, but well worth the 'Zombie' type scare and as a good 'Infectous' type Zombie.

One problem is that Animated Dead aren't Zombies.
If you want something scarier than animated dead, use Zombies from the spell Create Zombie.
And beef them up with the necromancy spells to make them MDC and such.

But the real problem is that animated dead are generally a low-powered threat, and it sounds like you have a high-powered party in a pretty good situation.

A fully armored, fully stocked party of Mega-Damage class adventurers isn't going to be threatened by a few dozen (unmodified) Animated Dead.
But that's a problem with the set-up, not a problem with the Animated Dead.

If you want animated dead to be a problem:
1. Ditch any power armor, robots, and powerful vehicles.
2. Ditch any naturally MDC creatures and/or creatures with Supernatural Strength.
3. Stick the party in a situation where e-clip recharges and other ammo is in short supply (which, really, should be most of the time anyway)

This will already make the Animated Dead a bigger threat. Not at first, though.
At first, the PCs will happily blow the zombies away without much problem.
But after a few waves of corpses get obliterated, they'll start worrying about ammo.
When they're down to melee weapons, things can start to get tense.

That's the basic idea, but it's good to have some extra complications. Make it so they can't run. Stick them in a dead-end valley, and/or have them sworn to protect some SDC villagers that don't want to leave their homes.
The villagers are great, because even though the PCs can't easily be harmed, the SDC peasants can be. They can lose the battle without losing a drop of their own blood.

Anyway, I think I know a way of scaring my PC's without having to overly munch out zombies.

What if (and I'm not sure exactly HOW to do this yet) the zombies were able to transmit the 8th level spell Sickness to those that they attacked? The spell doesn't really do any damage, but it makes the recipient really sick for a while by mimicking symptoms.

Can you imagine what my PC's would do if they found that they had been battling zombies and one of them started feeling dizzy, light headed, nauseas, sick, coughing, achy and weak? I think they would totally freak out.

Sounds like a good idea!

Just give them some Nyquil, should clear it right up!

THough didn't RIFTS Darks Conversion or one of the tolkeen books make it so Undead S.D.C. take M.D.C. has S.D.C. Damage 1 to 1.
I remember being happy when I read it thought now I can use undead against party members.

Also didn't some one ask if you could make more then one zombie in a night. And most agree yes you could has long has you had the P.P.E.?

IIRC zombies can also use ranged weapons, though not as well as a living being. And in Dark Conversions they have the new undead from the Land of the Damned. There are tougher zombie-like undead among their number.
