making a body for archie

Unread post by Shades of Eternity »

I was reading revised sourcebook and it sounds like Archie is finally making a "backup body" in case he ever has to make a run.

What do you think it should be?

given his Mechanoid modified factories, I would assume it would be a giant mechanical beast that can "eat" minerals and process them into servant robots and other high tech nightmares.

I'm drawn between saying disguised as a 13-year-old kid (loaded nanobots to help him 'grow' later) or a Mechanoid spider fortress. I can manage to picture both, but things would have to be incredibly desperate for Archie to give up his true body, the complex.

well strap on a countragrav generator from a wasp, and pile on the possibilities of a mobile center with good weapons a solid nuclear generator, and you got a mach three.

and because he has megaman in his database, it has a mini ship if the main one is destroyed, not unlike those russian dolls :-p

here's a scary thought. he has his bots find one of the Tinconderoga's sisterships and has it refitted into a massive mobile base with onboard factories. then he has his braincase installed into it.
(given that he's a nueral intellgence, i doubt he could just download himself. he'd lose the connective links that allow him to think. revert back to the way he was when first activated.)

a Tico class would be sufficently large enough for him, and i'd bet he does know where to find them. plus it would keep the ship(s) out of republican hands.

if he fits the right gear onboard, he could even make it self sufficent. send out robots to mine the seafloor for petroleum, minerals, and other raw materials, process and refine them onboard, then produce more robots.

plus some hydroponics bays and fishing bots to keep Hagan supplied with food.

If ARCHIE is half the genius he acts like he is, he's body would be the largest a believable human can be... like 6'8, and look like it weights 350-450 lbs. Then make it look like a human, even using bio-system skin graphs. That way he could to an extent blend in with a crowd, and if checked seem like a download graded or decommissioned borg, at best. After all he's sent spies all around in much the same way.

But likely Kevin is going to have ARCHIE have something the size of a GB, nano-bot enhanced, with weapons that would make the Coalition pee their pants.

archie thinks the same way as anyone. lots of neurons firing, moving bits of information around a vast network. it's just archie's neurons are silicon and glass, not protein and lipids.

if archie were to transfer his programming to a new "brain", all that would happen is the new copy has all the memories of archie, but none of the thought processes. it would be like if you were to wake up one day with all your current memories but the mind of an infant.

his thinking is tied to the connections between the parts of his "toaster box", if those change, he'll lose large parts of his ability to think, and have to relearn all over again.

not unlike humans, actually. computer nueral nets are based on our understanding of the human brain, after all.

No Archie has secretly converted his hidden facility in MD into a giant Robot Body. All he has to do is transform from "Fortress" into "Robot" mode, possibly even coming with a "vehicle" mode.

Yeah...I'm kinda wondering about that one too...

And if it were a choice between a transformable ship that has guns that destroys EVERYTHING and guns that just do 1d4x1000 or whatever...I'd have to go with the former...

Hmm...
how about a VW Bug?
Unfortunately, due to being installed with wrong voice chip, he can only speak using the horn. On the up side, during the summer, he can call in air strikes of geese to annoy foes.

But seriously, I can see three options.

1: A large human sized robot, big enough to house the brain case, yet small enough to not cause the CS or someone else to freak out and LRM the area into a huge hole in the ground.

2: A rather large vehicle, perhaps a Behemoth Explorer or something like the one oversized Triax/NGR APC (the one with the 'mini-tank' in the back). It can be mobile, has living space for Hagan, and the rest of the space can be used for small factories, processing/recycling equipment for refining stuff like ore or recyling salvaged stuff, not to mention hydroponics to produce food and air for Hagan in the off chance the CS accidentally ticks off something big and gets all life on the planet wiped out except those in safe places (like sealed environments)

3: A high speed super sonic capable stealth VTOL to take himself to a backup facility hidden elsewhere, perhaps built someplace Titan has influence.

Other random ideas.
Anime Mecha type thing (Gundam anyone? Er, I mean, a super anti-nerfed Triax Devastator anyone?)

A mini 'bullet train' and an nderground secret monorail to 'shoot' himself at a backup facility.

An infiltration type unit with a map to an old long forgotten back door to the Lone Star Complex that the CS has never found yet.

Mega-Maid. With anti-fruit spread sealant to keep the radar from being jammed...

A super sized big rig that has something like 2 steering axels, 3 drive axels, 3 more axels with semi-turning wheels in the middle, with massive sleeper, and the ability to do stuff like drive on water, or tranform into some roller skating robot...

An advanced bio-system unit that looks like a tree...

A huge robot with nanolathe, d-gun, laser, insane armor, and an anti-matter power plant, so he can go some random place, build up an army and nuke the CS in the time it takes for someone to a holiday meal.

A wooden pirate sailing ship concealing an MDC craft or sub or some such thing... maybe said ship flies somehow...

An Icecream truck.

An extra vote for the mention that it should be his present base changing into something else...

Anything good at saying "I'll be back" or "Hasta la vista, baby."

A massive ship sized tracked vehicle thing like in artwork by Larry Elmore that was in several old Gamma World books. Add on a giant bumper sticker of "We Brake for No One"
Hagan "It's a Coalition State Firestorm Base!"
*crunch*
Hagan "Um... Forget about it... it's Chi-Town!"
*crush*
Hagan "Er... nevermind... I'm going to take a power nap..."
*several hours later*
Hagan "It's Splynn! Er, wait a minute, how the heck did we get here?"
ARCHIE 3 "I think I took a wrong turn at that rift in Albuquerque."
Hagan "Oh... what is that ugly giant bug thing splattered on the bridge window?"
ARCHIE 3 "Not sure, I think it's a Xiticix... it ended up there on a detour through Duluth while I was fleeing from an apparently enamored Mechanoid Spider Fortress..."
Hagan "..."

A black Pontiac Firebird Trans Am, preferably resembling a 1982 model...

A fembot, because it was the only thing available at the time of urgent departure...

Anything resembling assorted cool stuff from the animes of Ghost in the Shell or Appleseed.

A life like horse, which answers to the name Ed, tended two by a life like android called Wilber.

A tracked soda can vending machine that fires soda cans... just be ready to dodge the cans of "Power Punch", it's a real blast...

A SAINT model NOVA robot. Often asks "Whose Johny?"
"No Disassemble!"
*shoots belt buckle off of CS officer with laser*

An ED-209, the special "Doesn't malfunction and randomly kill people or get hacked by little girls with laptops" edition.

A sci-fi airship.

Anything else that pops in mind due to illness induced sleep deprivation, such as an...
