Vampiric Intellegences question ...

Unread post by Lenwen »

Can a V.I. TAKE away the part of the intellegence that belongs to it in effect taking away the Vampire's source of power ? And if so how would this effect the Vampire ? Would it kill them outrite ? Or would they be able to fight this in some arcane (possibly) Way ? Any cannon info would be appreciated or even personal opinions as well thanks ..

If a vampire intelligence could just take away the "vampire-ness" from one of their vampires, they would die immediately. The body is already dead after all, all that's keeping it going is that vampire-ness.

However, I don't think VIs can do that. If they could, vampire mind control might not even be necessary - it would be: "do as the vampire intelligence says, or you're dead."

They cannot simply strip away that part of them.

No one can.

it's not a traditional empowerment. it's a FUSION, the essence of the VA is IRREVOCABLY bound to the human soul, and neither one can break it off.

If the VA itself dies, the vampire dies instantly.

Probably not. If a Vampire Intelligence isn't happy with the way one of his vampires is working out, he'll have to gank the dude the old fashioned way by sending out some goons to stake the guy.

There exsists a Rifter that has what happens when a VI wants to remove its essence from one of its minions. I'm not sure which one it's in though.

yeha it's called a wooden stake and a silver blade...but I can sse that in rifters. It would make sense they can remove an essense when the Vamp becomes trouble.

I don't remember seeing that in ANY Rifter.

And of course, even if it is, we'd need to know if the info regarding that is canon.

Its called the Abandoned Vampire R.C.C. from Rifter #8. Its a Jason
Richard's creation. I believe its material that never made it into Rifts Arzno.

Correct (except for the spelling of my name :P). I didn't put it in the manuscript because I felt it threw too great a kink in the canon of the vampire transformation process.

This is almost embarrassing to admit, but I, admitted lover of all things vampiric, have never read that article. And I have Rifter #8! Oh, well, easily fixed, I suppose.

Lenwen, my friend, we have here another vampiric question to which I will give you my two cents worth, (again). In my opinion, the Vampire Intelligence should be able to remove the gift of eternal life from the Master, but wouldn't be willing to unless they they had truly FUBAR'd. They are, after all, Alien Intelligences, which makes them lesser versions of the Old Ones. Why, then, could they not just as easily take it away?

As to the issue of it being a sort of bonding or merging experience, this is true, to a point. As I understand it, a portion of the intelligence merges with the mortal to make a Master Vampire. If it were the whole the Intelligence, well... you'd have Vald Tegor! And I believe it's more of an imbuement than it is a merging, but I could be wrong about that. At any rate, the VI is more than powerful enough to take away that which it has given.

So says the Ranger... but what do I know?

To answer the question no or else rifts would not have the "good" vampire trying to fight off the other vamps (can't remember name female secondary has ring that fights off mind control) The VI would have just killed her off.
got a NPC who was made into a secondary vampire sometime after the Chaos Earth series. I devised a ritual where the Necromancer (from Splynn Market) disconnected his essence from the Vampire Inteligence. He now is in effect a master vampire with out a connection to a VI. I based the idea off a rifts NPC witch that was able to remove his connection with his AI and kept the power he was embued with. I try to stay in canon more or less and since rifts canon had a witch be able to do that I figured a vampire could do the same with some heavy duty magic. He now works for the society of sages. He orginally was a member of the precusor to the current day CS military. He volenarily traded his humanity for power to fight against the D bee threat. Heable to through force of will fought the mind control and killed the vampire that madehim after finding out the truth of vampire existence. Since he can't return obviously to the C.S. he helps lead a strike team of the society of sages. Though spends as much time as he can on eliminating vampires. He got created (in the game) when the PCs where going after a VI and to they run into him. So he would not die and for the PCs benefit so he wouldn't be controled by the Vi when they went after it they discovered and had preformed the ritual severing his ties to the VI.
