I never cared for Lee Kwon Choo myself.
I thought the idea of a "non-violent" martial art was a good one, but I felt that Aikido covered that pretty well, compared to Lee Kwon Choo which did not.

Any style could be used in such a manner really: I could take Sankukai, and never use the punches or kicks, or take Tae Kwon Do, and only use the Tripping Leg Hooks and Backward Sweeps.
Any one can Pull Punch to reduce damage to lowest levels, or simply choose styles with more holds and locks, and takedowns and flip/throws.
when you get right down to it, Sentinel's right.~Uncle Servo.

Sentinel. you'll be always loved by the German Princess.~Nelly

That's twice in one day Sentinel has cleaned up my mess.~The Galactus Kid.

I like the idea behind the style, and the shock attacks can be a great set-up for other, more damaging, attacks. But, this sentence, "The bonuses and Techniques of the form may be introduced into other forms and katas but Lee Kwan Choo itself cannot be modified." has me thinking. Lee Kwan Choo has an awesome set of bonuses, at least it did in the unrevised edition. If you go with the "bonuses may be introduced into other forms" section of the sentence, it means you can use the high bonuses from LKC to power other, more powerful, moves from a different style.

I was never completely clear on that one myself.
On one hand, it could have been understood to be special case (like Hwa Rang Do and Moo Gi Gong combined), where it was an exception to the rule.
On the other hand, it could have been another example of crappy editting and unclear language which really meant nothing.

::shivers:: Yes. Sorry, crappy editing triggered a response in me, because it seems like the wording forces a translation of some sorts through deductive reasoning. Especially with Hwa Rang Do and Moo Gi Gong...is it even possible to get the two forms through initial character creation?

Not with Hwa Rang Do being Exclusive.

If a player of mine wanted a DMA with that combination, I would be agreeable however.
