I had looked at the conversion rules when HU was still in the Revised edition, and the changes were more workable. I found I still preferred the DMA to the Ancient Master.
The HUII version was more powerful (in some ways) than previously, and those new special abilities weren't accounted for (of course, N&SS is now waaaaaay behind the Palladium curve, as it lacks a Second Edition version).
I think you are intended to keep the three main special abilites, and would also likely have the Minor Power but the other bonuses would be superceded by the bonuses that come with the Martial Art form (it's unclear whether the HUII AM would get two styles, or only one).
In HU Revised combined with Unrevised N&SS the AM got three stles: one exclusive and one secondary, or three non-exclusive: the main art would be taken with all 10th level advantages, while the secondary art would be taken at third level.
When N&SS was revised, this was not edited properly, hence the confusion.

Better balanced for my tastes.
The AM was a generic super-martial artist, with no real focus or orientation, as opposed to the N&SS martial artists who had more focus.
A Jujutsu master obviously focused on grappling, while a Tae Kwon Do DMA was a kicking machine.
The AM was just a little too generalized for me, and as such all of them came out alike, while the DMAs of N&SS were more distinct.
Bonus whores loved the AM however.
All the DMA really lacked were a decent selection of skills (easily remedied).

I always thought the Ancient Master was the perfect O.C.C. for the founder of a new martial art.
