I though of doing something like that (zine), but that's what the Rifter is for.
It is what inspired me to start my AtB Warehouse blog, which includes content from some of the other people on the board here.
Incidentally, the blog will soon be celebrating it's 100th post.

over at the classic battletech website there is a tradition of april fools jokes. one year they announced super-heavy mechs built by clan wolverine. another year they announced their main writer was quitting. but their greatest joke was two years ago.
they released a list of a ton of new books, all ones the fans had wanted to see. new main books, new tech readouts, new setting books. and everyone lamented for everyone knew it was just a gag, that "the powers that be" were just pulling our legs.
until the next day, when no announcement of "gotcha" came. and months later, when the first of the books came out, it was realized.
the joke was on us.
