A heros unlimited story

On June 25th 1984 the world ended,
a metor shower hit the northern hemispere
showering it in purple radiation and strange
substances. This shower of extra solar junk
hit the northern hemisphere starting with the
westernmost portion of poland sweeping across
europe. This was a taste of what was to come north
america was next the continate entire would be
consumed by this event. The shower would proceede
to hit portions of the pacific the last peices struck
the south western portion of japan and a final
chunk would hit the city of pusan in south korea.

This event would cause billions of dollers in damages, thousands would die and entire
governments would be thrown into disorder.
This was but the begining people, animals and
even everyday objects were changed mutated
by the event the world.
Supermen steped out of the world of comic books
and became very real, in one moment humanitys
huberus of control was shattered.
Europe huddled together in the dark desprate for
warmth the desperate infighting that defined them
was replaced by a need for survival.
Mexico collasped and Canada lacked the reasources
to deal with the changes, america damaged as
it was intact thanks to decades of coldwar paranoia.
Much of what was formerally mexico and canada
would be folded into the united states during the
years after purple rain. The governments superficially still exist under the banner of the
north american adminstration zone or NAZ, but
each day brings a further eroding of soverntry.
It has been 20 years since purple rain My name
is Brian Addams this is the story of my life.

I woke up to the sound of my roommate
screaming at his knife.
"Shut up Shut up, you are nothing with out
me nothing now stop nagging me and cut
the damn cheese loaf, I know your upset but
your still a freaking knife and everything else
in in the machine!"

I rubbed my temples
"What is Nixon whinging about now?"

My roomate sighed
"he insists that he should only be used for combat
and that hes too good for mear kitchen work."

"Nixion gives you the power to fly turn invisable
and cut almost anything let him have his way."

"Not you too brian!"

"our work is dangerous enough with out our
resident enchanted weapon user bickering
with the source of his powers."

My roomate looked at his knife
"NO I AM NOT GOING TO KISS YOU!"

I needed a coffe bad I threw on my uniform
and left my armored apartment complex I am
one of the millions of people who maintain the
health of the NAZ. The thin light green line
between chaos and order in other words Im a
jackbooted thug charged with keeping the quebecers from rebelling. Quebec like southern
mexico did not apreciate their countrys elites
selling them down the river to save their own
skins and thus maintain small groups of terrorists
and freedom fighters. It used to be alot worse
alot of them have ether been bought off, brought
into the system, killed, imprisioned or just
gave up. These days only the die hards remain
my job is to mop up these last peices of resistance.
To do this job I required guns and coffee, mainly
coffe.

I lit a cigaret and took a deep drag,
I walked over to the Dresden dolls
coffe shop. I went to the counter and
odered a coffe from a woman with a
mohawk and a nose ring. I sat down
and waited for the shops most competant employee to actually make
my coffee.
I turned over and groaned as my
comanding officer walked into the
room, at 5 foot 4 LucyRamerez
was pure concentrated evil. Born some
where in the yucatan she grew up
fighting along side some Zapitistas.
The only reason shes my comanding
officer is because she sold out her
teamates for a comission in the milatary.
"What are you doing here magot?
We need you on patrol Stat!"
I sighed grabed my coffee from the
barista and walked out of the shop as
my comander yelled at me. It didnt
matter that today was offically a day
off for me, I had the bad luck to be
at the wrong place at the wrong time.
I walked to the base suited up and
went on patrol.

I went into the base and put on my body
armor, my partner Hiro sat down next to
me.
"I thought you had the day off"
I sighed
"I got caught by the wickecd witch
of the south."
"Wow sucks to be you."
We loaded our guns and went into
our patrol tank, I checked the
bio desal rate it was low so we had
it refilled.
In theory each patrol tank has to have
three fully allert gaurds and a driver.
In practice one man pays attention
while the driver roams his rout and the
other two goof off. I personally consider
it a perfect system. Hank got first
watch that gave me a hour to goof
off and Hiro 2 hours to goof off.
I didnt know alot about Hiro we was
new to Quebec. He had a thick accent
smelled and the smell of processed snacks and alcohal seemed to be imbedded into his very being.
"So Hiro where are you from?"
Hiro smiled.
"I am from Osaka Japan I moved here
after college."
"What made you move here the entire
countrys gone to hell since purple rain."
"America is filled with super humans
I wanted to live in a place like the
anime I grew up watching."
"But japan has superhumans."
Hiro looked away in shame
"Japan has very few superhumans left
the government well every one treats
them very badly and very few governments want them in their country.
If your despret enough you can convert
to judism and move to Isreal, Ive heard
a lot of them have done just that.
The ones who havent left live under alot
of restrictions they live in out of the way
places and have to carry internal passports. I wanted to live in a place
were people lived and breathed super
powers."
I sighed
"sounds like what you really wanted was
to be a superhuman."
Hiro smiled
"maby thats true but this is close enough
I mean I work with a person with a
magic knife, some one with telekinisis,
a psychic and a guy who can transform
into a robot In a way I really am living
the dream."
Hiro smiled as if lost in deep thought.
I wonder if he knew about symbiots
if he had the right blood type he could
get super powers. I corrected myself
if he had my blood type he could become
a superhuman. I ponentially had the
power to make his dream come true.
I pushed that thought out of my mind
it was my turn to take watch.

I sat at the turret and opened opened
up a can of coke, a few months ago we
had cans of beer instead but the brass
got wise to that and told us no booze
on watch.
On television tank duty is exciting
they make it out to be us rushing from
one fire fight to the next. Maby that was
the case in the early days after purple
rain but these days its filled with mindless drugery. During my entire
time of service ive never once fired my
weapons in anger. I decided to talk
to Malakai our driver over my com.

"Hey Mal hows it going?"

"I am doing fine my eesh-tee how are you doing?"

Mal sighed
"a-tah mo-tsay, loh o-hayv o-tahk"

Mal says that alot when he talks to me
I think its some sort of prayer.

"serously Mal how are you doing?"

"My eesh-tee I am in love, I am in love
and the person I love with does not
feel the same way."

"Come on Mal Im sure any girl would kill
to have you by their side your smart youve got mussles and you have the highest body count in our squad ok sure
all of those kills are animals but hey you
killed a actual moose how many people can say that?"

"I do not want just any girl my eesh-tee."

"Then tell her how you feel, what harm
can it do?"

"The problem my eesh-tee is that our relationship is forbiddened by the rules."

I sighed Mal must have fell hard for one
of the girls on base your not allowed to
date fellow service people.

"Mal I havent been in many relationships but I have learned one
thing screw the rules, lifes too damn
short to blindly follow the rules. Love
who ever you want regulations be
damned"

Mal sighed
"You always know how to both inspire
and iratate me at the same time
my eesh-tee."
