learning from nature...

i found these recently, while looking for stuff on airships. wonderful videos. they manuver gracefully and with a bit of alieness, a feeling enhanced by the choice of music.
really ingenius designs too. a wonderful example of how nature can show us better ways to do things.

just something i thought might provide some gaming ideas.

personally i also think this shows that living gasbag creatures could be biomechanically possible. it's really helped me in my Aerial Shoals idea.

i was thinking more like A. Conan Doyle's The Horror of the heights, which was the first to approach the idea of an ecosystem in the upper atmosphere.

it seems to me that RIFTS has the potential to have such a thing. while in real life we don't have anything of the kind, all the rift activity, D-shifting, ley line storms, and so on would allow the occassional population of aerial life to show up in the skies of RIFTS, and eventually spread and flourish.

while it wouldn't be particulalrly common, it would make air travel more interesting to do from a game perspective, as well as providing good reason that aviation based trade is not as prevalent as you'd think it would be.
