Favorite Villain or Nemesis

Unread post by Rali »

Who is/was your favorite nemesis or villain from TMNT&OS or After the Bomb? Choose up to three.

Mine are Doc Feral, the Terror Bears, and the Triceratons.

Of the Terror Bears, Doom Bear was my favorite.

I can't think of a campaign that I've run over the last 23 years that didn't involve Doc Feral at some point, and that includes Rifts.

I guess it all depends on how you portray them.

Doc Feral comes off as the noble-intentions mad-scientist, which makes him a great anti-villian.

The Terror Bears are excellent antagonists, because all they're doing is trying to survive in a world that's shown them nothing but fear, pain, hopelessness & terror.

The Triceratons, depending on which era you're using them from (the early depictions in the TMNT Vol. 1 comic, or what they've become in Vol. 4) make good ruthless baddies, soldiers seeking only to defend & preserve the Empire.

The Road Hogs are bandits, which makes them good pawns or lackeys, depending on who's pulling their strings.

Ali Komani has potential to be a manipulating baddie, but still has that "I'm so powerful, I don't have to life a finger," Jabba-The-Hutt deal.

The Gun Bunnies straddle that line between armed thugs & 'grey-area' good guys. I don't think they'd make effective villians.

The Empire of Humanity, in either version, still comes off as 'The Old Man', as per their description....still a potential threat, but not so blind as to forget the old M.A.D. addage.

SAECSN is probably my favorite if we're looking for downright ruthless villains, but I also like the Triceratons, Doc Feral (more so his conglomerate than him), and to some extent the Foot (so long as it can be kept visualized as an effective criminal organization and not a slapstick comedy act).

With some tweaking the Empire of Humanity could become a very morally-grey and interesting group of villains. What if they became more welcoming of animals but still remain a fascist state intent on conquest? What if some animals prefer the greater wealth and technical sophistication of the Empire even if they are treated as second-class citizens? A lot of people are willing to trade freedom for prosperity.
