That maybe hard to pull off. If they ever get damaged, and mean really ruffed up, how are they not going to find out once they realize that there body’s aren’t responding normally?

Same thing I was going to ask. Also, if they are anything other than human, if they have any powers like psionics or supernatural powers or magic, they will have lost that when they became transferred intelligences.

what's the point of the twist?

I assume this would induce significant confusion, so I've decided to include one robot NPC who is instead a Neural Intelligence, and who knows their origins.

Do NOT do this. I can tell you right now that your players will enjoy the problem more if you let them work it out them selfs, rather than have the ever-uber NPC tell them.

Personally as a single character concept the idea would work smoothly for the plot twist. As I have had a Robot dragon that though he was fully real until he got damage sufficiently to break the synthetics covering his endoskeloton. But as a Whole group of players I wouldn't do that to them. maybe one or two of the man at arms/scholar charas. but let them play Psi's and Mages just don't turn those ones into the bots. have some other thing done to them (CS IC Coding like)

Well it all depends on the temperament of your players. I could see some of them getting upset to find out that they were all robots all along. Some players would get peeved others would go along with it and RP to find out what was going on and what happened to their real bodies.

That is why I think it would be a bad idea for it to be all the players. Maybe a few of them but not all of them. Now if you think all of your players can handle that sort of major plot twist then have fun with it. But in my exp of gaming not all players will like that sort of thing happening to there precious character

This kind of reminds me of that Stargate episode where there were android versions of the SG1 team. As far as the designs of the robots, well, you are kind of limited no? They have to look human. Second, I wouldn't make them overly strong. Perhaps a little stronger than your standard human but nothing super-mecha like. NO BUILT IN WEAPONS. Make them as "human" as possible but still a little special. I don't think any of that made sense. It's perfect in my head but I don't know how to write what I am trying to describe here.
