Re: Mysteries of Magic
I hope it will have Different schools of Magic and Not O.c.c how only have Specal abilities but use Invocation spells like what in Rifts.
Real Schools of Magic only use Spells unique to them, like the Necromancer.
What do you think?

Re: Mysteries of Magic
I'd buy any PFRPG content that comes out, I like the systems flexibility and how it's not so constraining on players or GM's, there is a lot of freedom to be had. I'm also a bit curious about LOD 3, is there any info on that one?
Re: Mysteries of Magic
I need to update my collection on this as well. lol

twhaley wrote:I'm also a bit curious about LOD 3, is there any info on that one?
Bill Coffin handed in the finished book, but Kevin hated it. Coffin got fired, and we'll likely never see LOD 3 in print. Unless the gods of the universe smile upon us PF fans, and the stars align perfectly giving Kevin the inspiration and freetime to do a massive rewrite.
Man, it's hard to type with my fingers crossed.
Would it be too difficult then to remove the listing from the online site, it's rather pointless if it's a non-issue then isn't it, kind of like leaving bait out but forgetting to put it in the trap. Plus it's unprofessional. On a side note, it's too bad that his (Coffin's) track record of writing quality product for Palladium Books suddenly ended by writing that last one. It must have been a real stinker for KS to sink it so fast. Also, how many pre-orders did it get? Cause if it's never coming out, I can let my retailer know to drop it from my list of product I have ordered, since it's vaporware at the moment.

Mephisto wrote:I'm still wondering how mega-powerful Bill made the residents of the Citadel...because I'm guessing that is what Kevin had a problem with, that he made the setting too deadly for any PCs to really exist in. But let's face it, in canon the Citadel is the home of Chaos Magic, and that by its nature is insanely heady stuff to deal with.
Deadly compared to what? LOD 1 and 2?
Re: Mysteries of Magic
If you took this game and converted it into an MMO, it would seem that LOD is all about the epic side of things, for high level players. Yin Sloth by comparison is cake country; sure it has it's little tough parts, but the whole is not epic at all. Gods and Dragons is more informational than anything else, they aren't really about conflict with players, and if you can allow that dragons can become 'gods' then it follows that players could also become 'gods' (and NPCS at that time).
Re: Mysteries of Magic
Why NPC's? it might be fun to play in a game as a PC that has risen to the power of a god. Of course things that would challenge the player would be the interpolitical stuff between pantheons as well as cosmic level threats and the gathering of more worshippers and the well being of their religion that worships them.

Most 'gods' operate under a non interference pact, preventing direct confrontation (and lots of destruction and such, read up on the Chaos War history). This leaves their mortal servants the only real way to do anything, and they have to let them have free will too.
A game with player 'demi-gods' can be interesting, but I think short-lived. Where is the risk beyond having your status revoked and your key to the immortals restroom taken away? Now I know something similar to IN NOMINE could be done, but angels are NOT gods. And that sort of game can get dry quickly too. Open warfare usually means Armageddon, and there can be only one winner, and it's usually the guy who made it all in the first place, whomever or whatever that is.

At this point in time I can only say this. **** or get off the pot.
This is what I tell all my friends who are in relationships that won't get married because they think the ceremony is pointless, but still remain 'married' by the state anyway. Ever hear of the term 'a little bit pregnant'? The guy is starting to remind me of contractors that spread their jobs out over the year, and move from one to the other after a week working instead of finishing one first and then moving to the next, to keep from actually finishing a job too soon.

How vocal have I already been about this book? I'll likely read it three or four times in the first week after I get it. I'm probably going to send the hundredth PM off to Kev about it. (That's my hundredth PM.) Not only is this book going to rock, it's going to mark the first book written solely for PF in... how long has it been? Jeez! Better write that PM.

There are a number of new spells, plus some old ones that got converted, and some SDC conversions of Necromancer spells from Rifts. Not much in terms of new schools of magic, though I did do a couple things with variant warlocks, different types of priests, new abilities for witches, and explanation of most of the magic OCCs I could find.

yeah, in some of those Rifters I just bought KS talks about those too, saying she kinda went wild and turned in two books instead of one and how difficult that is too edit. (that was before Land of the Damned, written in three volumes, planned as even more books, and published in two volumes - so far, and probably it stays that way). Id say it cant be that hard, as PB did it before (publishing a series, that is), but on the other hand of course we dont know how the manuscript was.
maybe the Book of Monsters and Magic is "dead" but some of the material on magic could be salvaged? especially if PB plans to do MoM as a series of books...
