clever use of void grenade

Is the game over the weekend one of the players came up with a creative use for void grenades (merc ops). Faced with an angry dragon one on one the player hit themselves with the grenade hoping the dragon would be gone by the time they reappeared. It worked well until the tunnel they were in started collapsing. (That was a rule question we pondered: Had the cave suffered a total cave in, would the player have died upon return materializing in the rock, or have been bumped to the nearest open space which in this case was several hundred feet away?)

The magic of the nade would of moved the rock out of the way for long enouph to deposit the mass it had taken out of normal space, back into normal space. This doe not hold said rock in the place it was shoved.
