Then set up his own little mage town (less than 275 in population), with a church of Norse god, in a small D-bee village 20 miles out side Kingsdale, in the CS territory. Note he is rather powerful demigod, but almost never there to protect the town.
It has been suggested by another GM that this town would be wiped off the face of the earth as it just to close to CS territory. I hate, as the GM, to wipe out a player's plans, but he keep expanding the town. I would think since it is in Missouri, the CS would destroy it as per Standard Operating Procedure.
At first it was small and easy to hide, but it has grown large and the illusionary forest cast over the area would bleed PPE, that Psi-stalkers would smell for miles.
Lastly I think that the CS would wipe it out before it became a new magic city. :bandit: :clown:

(edited the grammar mistakes in the above (they were just too horrible to look at, I hope I fixed it to what the poster meant), it looks like the text was translated to english by a comp program)

When church is said to describe a religion that implies Christianity not some other religion.
Which norse god? or did you mean the Norse religion that worships the whole pantheon?
why would this demigod ally with the norse pantheon?
Is the Demigod son or daughter of a norse god(dess)?

A Psi-Stalker might sense the active magic of the illusionary forest spell, not sensing any PPE bleed.
A PS senses are defined in the class.
If the CS found it and recognized the town to be with a mage population, they would destroy the town as per SOP.

Possibly - 20 miles still isn't to far, it's south of Interstate 44 so it's out the CS immediate territory

Heck Kingsdale may have a bigger problem with him setting up a town right on their doorstep.

Whykin may also have a problem with it, seeing it as a Kingsdale expansion.

IMHO, the CS would arrange to wipe it out just as part of SOP. In the post-tolkeen age, they may be a little more cautious, but they would consider it a threat. Whykin may as well for that matter. Even Kingsdale may be worried.

Finding it is the issue though. The CS is 180 odd miles away and has limited presence in the vicinity.

But if you wanted to screw with the town, then just have the people walk off. Sure it has 270 mages, but how many of them are farmers, doctors, electrcicians or civil planners? do they even get along with each other? are there power plays occuring while the demigod is absent? Who rules whle he is gone and are they a good ruler? anyone who feels particularly oppressed by this theocracy only has to hop the 20 miles to Kingsdale to be gone (demigod or no...he's not going to start any crap with the kingsdale army)

In short, it takes a lot to run a commune. If he's not there to run it, it might not stay together. (and if he uses force to keep them together, you should be checking alignment. after all he does purchase slaves)

According to the OP, his little commune is 20 miles out of kingsdale.

That's not a massive hike, terrain not withstanding. And they have magic.

Kingsdale would be a lot safer than the commune. Or at least, more resistant to CS incursion.
(All dependant, of course, if the CS even ever finds this town.)

I thought the Yes option was for destroying the town.

The player has chosen an interesting path and the GM should play along and see where the choices lead the story. There are many interesting options here and certainly I do not believe the CS will just hurl a nuke. There are many steps to be taken from espionage to subterfuge to instigating rebellions to skirmishes to test their strength and more long before they CS sends an armored battalion.

It may come down to "wipe them out", but there is plenty of cool campaign stories until we reach that point.

Are the slave spellcasters still enslaved?

Where the PC stand in the politics of the Norse gods? Whose he related to?

Who controls / leads the town when the demigod is gone?

Who are they trading with?
