Re: Casting the Nightbane Movie
I'd agree. Nightbane as a TV show would be cool, even if you could get it live-action & have the various morphii & most of the supernatural creatures done in CGI.
And yes, people are still reeeling form the Spelling nightmare that was Kindred:The Embraced. Even me. Even though I only read the novels & kept a passing interest in the game itself, I could go on for hours on what they got wrong with (what I & many gamers call) "Vampire 90210".

Therumancer wrote:Honestly, I don't think it would work as a movie. I could see potential for a TV series, but right now it doesn't seem like there is much interest in producing such things. Plus Kevin doesn't seem eager to take much in the way of risks with his properties (which is both good and bad in a way) and then there would be the potential problems with CJ if it ever became more successful, contracts aside, he could be a headache.
Maybe in 10 years or so if someone buys the liscence off of Kevin (assuming it's ever for sale) you might see the potential for someone to do it more or less right for a TV series. Paranormal/Horror Drama is mostly dead for the moment. Plus I'd imagine there is still some reeling (all these years later) after the collapse of the 'sure fire' Spelling/White Wolf alliance that produced "Kindred: The Embraced" which had the perfect formula but simply torqued off too many people in all of the respective fanbases instead of drawing them together.
Well, there were talks for the Kindred series to move to Showtime. But Mark Frankel getting killed in a traffic accident put the kibosh on that.
Which is too bad, because he was a good actor and that series was cool.

Seconded!
Nightbane - is awesome - centres around the fates of individuals, not unlike Heroes, and on an epic backdrop. That makes it ideal for a series.

Hiya
back to the topic ... whom would I wish to cast for a Nightbane Movie which I would centre around the "John Blake" character or around a Nightbane of the resistance:
Nicolas Cage as John Blake & Judas Bleak
Sean Bean as a fallen angel type Nightbane, a Resistance fighter
Sir Anthony Hopkins as a Seeker, maybe Saul van der Hendt
Armin Mueller-Stahl as a Seeker, Karl Hoffman would be nice
Kimberly Alexis Bledel as Angelica "Astrid" Lawrence
Meryl Streep as Yselte Crowe
John Rhys-Davies as a biomechanical Nightbane (motorbike-"centaur"), leader of a biker gang, maybe part of the warlords
Cheers

Re: Casting the Nightbane Movie
Id love to see a Nightbane movie or TV series, but as the RIFTS-movie is in Limbo for years, chances are more than slim. also, there are lots of movies with a Nightbane-esque feel/look, so I guess no studio would touch it.

Re: Casting the Nightbane Movie
Problem with any series or movie is that its not aimed at the people who play the RPG, its aimed at those who dont (well ok everyone but theres more who dont play). So if they think a cheesy Buffy type series works oh dear. If they think a True blood /adult series works ok. but signing that deal means Kevin will lose most of the input no doubt (I dont work in Hollywood but I cant see productions companies not having the decision making).
I would love to see a well done film and series!
But I wouldnt necessarily want to see Kevin gamble his lifes creation on something which might not be as good a reflection as the game is (Ngage anyone?). You CANNOT beat your imaginaton and its what RPGs are about - living the adventure in the midst and not watching from the sidelines.
If a series was good then have a running 24-7. But the pessimist in me says it wont be so work on some comicbook lines.
Oh, to answer the question Megan Fox playing Candi Mouse the lead Nightspawn (very religious girl who appears in a nightie with wings and actual stigmata). Or Megan fox playing any other part...

From what I understand, the interest was kindled when an independent film company contacted them about the Rifts license and Kev pitched them the olther lines they had to offer (since Rifts is tied up at the moment).
I'll tell you what, though, I'd sure like to see Nightbane spun into other mediums. Heck, I'd even take a shot at doing a screenplay for a movie/series pilot... for cheap!

Re: Casting the Nightbane Movie
As i see Nightbane as Dark Superheroes more than Horror. NB should be fighting the Nightlords and their menions (main bad guys).
Actor who played "Dargo" in Farscape. Playing a hard nose NB Resistance Fighter. Never leaves Morphus form.
Actor who played "Scorpious" from Farscape. Playing an Intelligent, Witty, sneaky NB Sorcerer.
Actress who played "Drusillia" from Buffy. Playing a Vamp-like NB, who wants to be a real vamp. Goth chick type.
Actress who played "Fred" from Angel. Playing an ancient NB who longs for her kingdom and ancient worshippers.
Actor who played "Joshaua" from Dark Angel. Playing a likable but sheltered NB looking for love and acceptance in the world.
Actor who played "Vincent" from Beuty and the Beast. Playing a Love stuck man who must lead his people in trying times.

Re: Casting the Nightbane Movie
I'd hire the writers of "Carnivel", "Wolf Lake", and "Fringe" at least.
Dark, but with just enough humor not to bore you. Monstrous Heroes looking for an Idenity, and fighting off government monster hunters and Nightlord minions. Nightlord Minions should not appear often, maybe in only 4 episodes out of 22. Government monster hunters maybe 4 as well. Rest self-discovery and runing into other niightbane. Some good some bad.

Ashely Scott (Dark Angel season 2/Birds of Prey) as an owner of a Club Freak. Vamp-like NB.
"Daniel" (SG1, cannot remember actor name). NB Sorcerer.
"Ashley" (Sanctuary, cannot remember her name). Smart-mouth NB. Bio-mechanical NB. Cyberarms and weapon hands.
Tom Welling (Smallvile). New Nightbane, with a good heart. We don't get to look at his nightbane for until the end. Chosen One/Knight. Golden Armor, Golden Sword, and Golden Shield.
