Re: Stat Checks
Typically, roll 1D20 under your attribute to succeed, with a natch 20 always failing. It's the one place I endorse a reverse scale (lower = better)
PFRPG predominantly deals in skills with percentages, or in definite bonuses/penalties, but this will cover those situations where skills just don't fit the bill.

Re: Stat Checks
I just have them roll a D20 under the stat with a modifier for how difficult the task is.

Re: Stat Checks
have them roll a D30.... under their stat score being the target number.

Re: Stat Checks
Stat x 5% +/- bonuses and penalties
IQ-can use for memory
PS-not realy a check it tells you waht you can lift and what you can't
ME-You COULD use this as a defacto willpower
MA-done for you
PE-again willpower, however I combine ME+PE+Spirit / 3x5% for a well rounded Willpower check
PB-again, done for you
Spd-done for you

The entire experiment may ultimately not work. But as Tiger Woods tears into the springbok, his mouth crimson with blood, he looks to have all the makings of a natural-born killer.

Re: Stat Checks
Spirit=my answer to to my position that potential magic energy and magical talent rest on how long you can run (ie PE)
I also have my mages use Mana instead of Potential Psychic Energy becuase that to is somewhat stupid
I use to use Inner Strength Points for Magic bt I like Mana better
I now use Potential PSYCHIC energy for PSYCHICS

Re: Stat Checks
we roll D20 for all but Speed
as well as D100 in substitution for some skills a character hasnt but still should get a chance.

I have them roll it or under it on a d30. A 1 means they did what ever perfectly or with such amazing accuracy.
Ankh, udja, seneb.
Re: Stat Checks
I never thought that rolling under made any sense.
I prefer the d20, roll high and use the appropriate attribute.
I don't have my notes but it's like this or close to it:
Roll d20, add attribute modifier (use P.S. table for any physical and ME for mental- i think), or use this table:
Attribute bonus to roll
1-5 -2
6-9 -1
10-13 0
14-16 +1
17-19 +2
20-23 +3
24-27 +4
28-33 +5
Very Easy 1-4
Easy 5-9
Moderate 10-14
Difficult 15-20
Very Difficult 21-26
Hard 27-33
Very Hard 34-39
Extremely
Hard 40-50
(lousy formatting!)

Then you are like unto a god, and should be damn good at things involving that stat, anyway.
