Two-seater Hummel helicopter concept folds-up for easy storage
Was on my list of things to do. Saw the two rotor housing as wheels for ground transport As well as the:
Mosquito single seater lightweight helicopter
Exo-skeletal Flying Vehicle
Any thoughts on those two rides - The Multi Mode Vehicle - motorbike AND aircraft in one
I am in a ground to air travel mind set.
I hate it when my mind wonders,
Because I have no idea what it will bring back with it.

Since they're all pre-Rifts vehicles, there's no reason why multiple post-Rifts manufacturers couldn't have picked up on the designs and duplicated/modified them...

Paladin Steel MTR-01 ‘SeaHammer’ Micro-Torpedo Launcher
“Me and my scoobies were out hunting frogmen....Innsmouthers, that is, ...just outside Plymouth on the Cape when we stumbled across another kind of ugly...fat Coalition mini-sub lying doggo on the bottom...We just happened to come across it from under and behind its sonar net, otherwise the Deadboys woulda been laying for us...as is, we got the swimming jump on them and crept up the thing’s tail..well, we noticed that the thing had its outer airlock hatch open, so we figured right then and there that there were swimmers in the water, maybe fixin’ to return soon...so as fast we could, me and one of the other slickers dash up to the airlock, praying it ain’t got any sensors chekin’ the entrance, and we snap the magazines out of our SeaHammers and fix them right proper just inside the rim of the hatch just so, then dash off, just as the thing starts up its engines and begins peeling wake! We cleared out of there as fast as we could, while looking for the Deadboys sure to be lurkin’ in the sea grass, but we saw none....not that it would make any difference...me and Bosko, we doubled hooked those micro-torp clips so that anyone entering the airlock would get zapped, and anyone trying to open the inner airlock would get a face full of micro-torp....wonder which it was finally...”
-----Lieutenant Ty Halston, Vermont Free State Navy(Free Massachusetts Detached Duty)
This naval weapon resembles a bullpup configuration shotgun, and bears a strong resemblance to the Coalition’s own CSN-T30 Torpedo-Grenade Launcher, but the PS weapon actually owes more to the pre-Rifts Pancor Jackhammer Mk 3-A2. It fires the new PS MT-1 micro-torpedoes, which are actually nothing more than a navalized version of the 15mm MicroMissiles, and is capable of firing them burst-fashion, like an auto-shot shotgun. Also, like the Pancor, the nuetrally-bouyant ammunition drum can be removed and set up as an underwater ‘Claymore’ mine, firing its remaining micro-torps in sequence, or all at once, if a trip-wire trigger is tripped.
Weight: 7 lbs
Range: 2500 ft underwater, 500 ft in air
Damage: (Pattern -T1) 6d6 MD to 3 ft radius per torpedo
Rate of Fire: Standard(Yes, bursts are possible)
Payload: 12 rds
Special Features:
*Nuetral Bouyancy Design-----Won’t immediately float to the surface if released, nor will it sink if lost.
Cost: 5,000 credits. each micro-torp costs 250 credits, a magazine drum holding 12 costs 100 credits(2,100 credits full)
Note: As later MT-1 series micro-torpedoes become available, the SeaHammer can use them as well.
Paladin Steel MTL02 Underbarrel Micro-Torpedo Launcher
“Eat THIS, Horune-slug!”
This is a grenade launcher-style underbarrel weapon based on pre-Rifts Australian ‘Metal Storm’ technology(itself copied by the Coalition for their CRR-M20 Missile Rifle, which, in turn, has been knocked off by Paladin Steel). It is loaded with three micro-torpedoes loaded head-to-tail and fired electronically. Compared to a standard 40mm M203-style GL, the 18mm MTL02 is lighter, slimmer, and smaller, but still packs a considerable punch underwater.
Weight: 2.2 lbs
Range: Varies by Micro-Torpedo type
Damage: Varies by Micro-Torpedo type
Rate of Fire: Single shot per trigger pull
Payload: 3 MT1-series micro-torpedoes
Cost: 3,000 credits. Micro-torpedoes cost extra.
Paladin Steel MT1-series Micro-Torpedoes
“Once dropped a coupla of ‘screamers in the swimming tank the SEALs like to use for practice....I ain’t never seen anybody swim faster, even trying to escape a sea-maw, then those froggies did trying to get out of the way of them little buzzers...
Of course, once they figured out who’d interrupted their little exercise, they proceeded to beat the snot out of me, but you know, it was worth it!”
The Micro-Torpedo line attempts to do for the underwater projectile what the Micro-Missile did for rocket-propelled grenades. The initial MT-1 offering was little more than a navalized version of the standard Pattern-1D Mini-Missile, and the Pattern-1A propulsion stage, re-configured for underwater operations, and was line-of-sight guided, but subsequent Patterns added subcavitation technology and micro-chip sensors, allowing for better range and accuracy underwater. This is especially important as rarely does one get a clear view at great distance underwater, so self-guided weapons are especially important in murky waters, but care must be taken to avoid ‘friendly fire’ incidents where other personnel in the water are concerned.
Size: The standard Micro-Torpedo is about 18mm in diameter and 7 inches long. Weight about 38 grams
Range:(Pattern-MT1A)2,500 ft underwater, 500 ft in air
(Pattern-MT1B)2,500 ft underwater, 500 ft in air
(Pattern-MT1C)3,200 ft underwater, 700 ft in air
(Pattern-MT1D) 4,000 ft underwater, 900 ft in air
Damage:(Pattern-MT1A)6d6 MD to 3 ft radius
(Pattern-MT1B) Screamer Round;Screamers are specialized one-use munitions that when fired, broadcast a massive burst of noise across all audio/sonic frequencies, with the intended effect of destroying acoustic target(sonar) locks, and allowing the sub/diver to escape opponents using sonar to detect or track them. -60% to track the sub via sonar while the Screamer is in effect, while sonar-guided weapons are -10 to strike .
Screamers also have the effect of stunning dolphins, whales, and other creatures using natural sonar and echo location. These creatures are disoriented/stunned for 1d4 melees.
A typical screamer will last 1d4 melees until it burns out or is destroyed.
Screamers can also be fused to ignite/activate anywhen up to a minute(4 melees) after deployment.
Effective radius of effect of the 18mm screamers is aproximately 1,000 ft
(Pattern-MT1C) Sonic Warhead---2d4 MD per blast to an 8 ft blast radius, 1d6x10 SDC to another 10 ft beyond that, Does only 1d4 MD to a 4 ft radius in air
Sonic weapons do HALF damage through light ‘soft’ armors like MDC barding and padded armor(such as wetsuits).
(Pattern-MT1D) 1d4x10 MD to 3 ft blast radius
Bonuses:(Pattern-MT1A) None; unguided
(Pattern-MT1B) None; unguided
(Pattern-MT1C) (+1 to strike in water. Micro-Homing Sonar Chip) Can also home in on a tracer beacon, and can track moving targets.
(Pattern-MT1D) (+3 to strike in water. Micro-Homing Sonar Chip)Can also home in on a tracer beacon, and can track moving targets.
Cost: (Pattern-MT1A)250 credits
(Pattern-MT1B) 220 credits
(Pattern-MT1C) 360 credits
(Pattern-MT1D) 400 credits

Awesome weapon. I happen to have a connection to the New Navy. I know that they and their allies would be interested in seeing this weapon system. And I'm including the Federated States in that list too.

Paladin Steel ‘Skymaster III’ Heavy Air Transport
“Whether you’re in a polis in the New Roman Republic, or a little secluded hamlet high up and deep in the untamed Rockies; we deliver.”
“AMAZON Flight Peregrine, this is GNE Aiglos Flight; we are vectoring into your area, north-northwest, estimated TOA in three. Advise on your situatio-”
“GNE Flight, this is Peregrine Four. Please get off this channel; be advised we’re in the middle of a firefight!”
“Peregrine, this is GNE Aiglos Flight; we are aware of your situation. You’re fighting slavers, are you not? We’re here to help.”
“Aiglos Flight, this is Peregrine. Sorry, appreciate the offer, but what are those four hogs you got going to do? We got a furball with fast-movers here! Please stay out---”
“Peregrine, this is Aiglos Flight; we’re Strategic Air Escort; you’d be SURPRISED at what we can do. Targets acquired; Flight, fire when ready!”
“Aiglos Flight! What the HELL!? WHAT THE ^%( WAS -THAT!!!!”
“Just clearing your way, Peregrine, just clearing your way!”
“Now listen up! We got a priority mail run to make the hard way....the New Romans want a shipment of Samarkite-C reactors they bought earlier shipped immediately...The Cochrane’s been seconded to a Russian trade mission, so the Foss is unavailable....regular water route’s out of the question..the apes at Gibralter report heavy Phoenix Empire anti-shipping activity in the Med since the Splugorth resupplied them with new toys...so we’re going to ship the powerplants by air...that means a six Herkybird air convoy taking off from Farnborough. They’ll proceed across the Channel and cut across northern Iberia, hopefully avoiding the German air perimeter and staying clear of the French warzone. ...
Yeah, I know, we can expect the Splugorth at New Splynn to pass the word to their buddies inland and they’ll try hitting us like last time as we cross the Apennes...but this time, just before you hit the Spanish coast, you’re going to pick up an escort..a pair of Skymaster Tris the leyline flash tells me will rendezvous with you after flying direct from North America...with any luck, the Spluggies won’t know you picked up some Big Brothers, and they’ll be able to cut through any opposition they throw at you...or else they’ll sweep around and make themselves as big a target as possible, and draw any surface to air balefire and other nastiness those Blood Druids might have waiting for you...long enough for you to get to the Roman Aquila Lines* and their protection..
Good luck to you, and remember our rep; ‘We Deliver’, is riding on this one!”
----Commander Dale Pearson, PS Transport Division attached Vermont Free State Civil Air Patrol Reserve
*Aquila Lines--New Roman Republic Air Defense Net---established in 104 PA in response to increased Gargoyle and Phoenix Empire air threats, this was a network of both shore- and ship-based air warning radars, backed by missile and artillery batteries. The NRR has, as of yet, few air superiority fighters of any sort, but is expected to integrate squadrons into the Aquila Line as they become available/are acquired/ are developed.
Before GMR vessels took over the role of heavy airlift in the PS/GNE lineup, the GNE relied on the SkyMaster III, an advanced airlift transport based on the pre-Rifts 747, combined with the advanced propulsion systems and joined-wing developed on the previous VC-270 Aeolus-class aircraft. A VTOL system similar to that used on the old Tristar allows for superior rough terrain landing capability.
Skymasters thus took over the role of the older Tristars as primary high-speed aerial personnel transports over the Atlantic runs, and, as cargo variants became available, became a mainstay of the transAtlantic trade routes. The design also saw extensive service in the Pacific theatre, but there was considered to be only a ‘medium’ transport next to the heavier Albatross-class WIGships. In service, the Skymaster III became affectionately known among crews as the ‘Lead Blimp’, ‘Skykie’, ‘Boxwing’, and ‘Motel’(the latter refering to its roominess), and several times, by crews obsessed with pre-Rifts trivia, the ‘Romulan’(after the vague similarity of its bulbous hull and joined wing to a design of fictious spacecraft). With the perfection of the heavy GMRships, the Skymaster IIIs have been downgraded in importance as the main carriers, but are still produced in numbers for smaller, more frequent, cargo runs, and for the general aviation market.

Wings(4) 180 each
Engines(4) 120 each
VTOL Lifter Assemblies(4) 110 each
Height: 64 ft
Width:(wingspan) 224 ft
Length: 250 ft
Weight: 420,000 lbs
Cargo: 5, 705 cubic feet capacity---6,025 cu ft (170.5 cu m)/ 5,599 cu ft (158.6 cu m)
Physical Strength: Not applicable
Powerplant: Nuclear w/ 20 year energy life
Speed: Hover to 620 MPH (maximum); typically cruises at 570 MPH, maximum altitude of 42,000 ft
Cost: 28 million credits for the basic aircraft
Systems of Note:
Standard Aircraft Systems.
Weapons Systems:
Going without some means of defending oneself on Rifts Earth is tantamount to suicide, so the Skymaster III carries armaments...admittedly light;
1) Light Point Defense Laser Turrets(6; ventral nose, dorsal midsection, tail, ventral aft, and two wing tip turrets)
Range: 4,000 ft
Damage: 3d6 MD per blast each
Rate of Fire: EGCHH, or 5 shots per melee in auto-defense mode
Payload: Effectively Unlimited
Alternately, some versions have been fitted with the following weapons:
a) Rail Gun---Standard electromagnetic rapid-fire gun
Range:4000 ft
Damage:1d6x10 MD per 40 rd burst
Rate of Fire:EPCHH. Can only fire bursts.
Payload: 120,000 rds per gun(2,000 bursts)
b) PS-RFL-25 Pulse Laser---Alternately, PS can fit the SkyMaster III with a more conventional double-barrelled pulse laser, ironically copied from a Coalition design from downed fighterjets(‘Well, if the DeadBoys are going to keep throwing stuff at us, why shouldn’t we oblige them and use some of it right back?’).
Range: 6,000 ft
Damage:2d4x10 MD per blast
Rate of Fire: EGCHH
Payload: Effectively Unlimited
2) Flare/Chaff Dispensers(4)---Mounted on either side of the tail, and under each wing, are decoy countermeasure launchers of standard design.
Range: Close Defense
Damage: None; similar to Triax-style chaff
01-50 Enemy Missile or volley detonates in chaff and threat is neutralized
51-75 Missile/Volley diverts and may pursue/lock on to other targets
76-00 No Effect! Missile(s) still on target!
Will also temporarily blind and impede flying monsters who fly into it.
Reduce APMs/combat bonuses/ speed by half for 1d4 melees
Payload: 12 per launcher (48 total)
3) (Optional) Waist Position Rail Guns(4)---For improved close-in defense, some Skymaster IIIs were fitted with four side blisters mounting rapid-fire rail guns, though this decreases top speed by 10%
Range:4000 ft
Damage:1d6x10 MD per 40 rd burst
Rate of Fire:EPCHH. Can only fire bursts.
Payload: 120,000 rds per gun(2,000 bursts)
4) (Optional) Wing Pylon Missile Stations(4)---Two small missile launch pylons can be fitted beneath the forward wings. Each station can carry ONE of the following:
a) Mini-Missiles----12 shot pod per hardpoint
b) Short Range Missiles---2 per hardpoint
c) Medium Range Missiles---1 per hardpoint
Variants:
*-C Cargo Variant---Skymaster III optimized as an air freighter. Features included the rebuilding of the passenger decks into a large cargo deck, installation of a foreward, upward-opening nose hatch, and floor roller-path. 148 ton cargo capacity(30,177 cubic feet space)
*-E Electronic Warfare/Airborne Early Warning Variant---An AWACS version of the Skymaster III was only inevitable, and so a variant sporting multiple radome bulges and a saucer aerial soon was to be seen at major GNE military air facilities. The ‘Electric Palace’, as it is sometimes known, is a flying electronic warfare center and distant early warning station.
In addition to normal defensive armaments, the -E variant sports impressive EW capabilities, as well as the ability to project a powerful directed ElectroMagnetic Pulse(EMP) at targets, capable of knocking out electrical systems with ease.
The -E variant patrolled GNE skies on overwatch for over a decade before more advanced systems, near-orbit aerostats, drones, and GMR platforms took over, and the -E was moved to reserves and theatre operations support.
Changes/Modifications:
MDC/Armor by Location:
Main Radome(1) 120
Systems of Note:
*Long Range Sensors---Long range radar with all-weather capability, doppler, and 400 mile range. The system can also pick up EM signals and emissions in that range, including radio transmissions, radar emitters, and microwave communications for both threat tracking and ELINT analysis.
*Long Range Jamming---Jams and distorts radar returns in a 25 mile radius of the aircraft, and communications in an 90 mile radius.
*EW Suite---The -E carries a powerful radar and communications jamming suite, and attendant EW officer/operator, in order to allow it to penetrate enemy air defense nets more effectively. Enemy sensor(IR, laser)-guided weapons are -6 to strike the aircraft, radar-guided weapons are -7 to strike.
*Electronic Cloaking---Thanks to advanced construction materials and the sophisticated EW suite, the -E enjoys a -50% on enemy sensor rolls to be detected by radar.
*Command Link---The -E can link and coordinate up to 60 other aircraft/vehicles/ground units, allowing them to share data and tactical information. Networked units have a +1 to Initiative, and +1 to Strike.
Weapons Systems:
Standard fitout of defensive systems, plus:
1) Electromagnetic Pulse Generation---The -E model can generate a powerful directed electromagnetic pulse that can be used to knock out the guidance and communications of missiles and most vehicles.
Range: 12 miles, can cover an area roughly 1,000 ft wide
Damage: None physical, but unshielded electrical equipment(including cybernetics and bionics) is temporarily knocked out of commission/performs erratically for 2d4+6 minutes. Unshielded digital recording systems will have lost 1d6x10% of their memory. Missile guidance systems will be scrambled; -10 to strike.
Rate of Fire: Once every two melees
Payload: Effectively Unlimited
*-F2 Aerospace Carrier---Similar in concept to the 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft, this was a SkyMaster III fitted to piggyback an aerospace craft, such as a light space shuttle, to altitude, and there send it aloft. Four such aircraft were modified and, in the early days of Paladin Steel’s efforts to establish a beachhead on the other side of the high-atmosphere dimensional interface/Orbital Containment Zone, were used to launch both high altitude probes and Crusader heavy TAV fighters in support of the Breakout. The -F2 variants included internal tankage for topping off the TAVs’ rocket propulsion reaction mass. With the implementation of more efficient fusion rocket- and GMR-propelled craft, the four -F2s were detailed to launching high altitude ‘atmo-skippers’ for reconning Atlantis and other distant locations.
*-T Tanker Variant---A variant fitted as an airborne tanker, for refueling those aircraft that still had liquid fuel engines(and were fitted for airborne refueling). Also had ‘rapid dump’ capabilities, allowing it to be used as a water bomber for fighting forest fires(and vampires).
The -T variant can carry 20,000 gallons of liquid stock and can dispense it through either a ‘flyable’ tail boom or through dump-vents in the belly of the aircraft.
*-HLC Heavy Laser Carrier---Serving much the same role as the pre-Rifts YAL-1 Airborne Laser laboratory, the HLC was initially used to test advanced heavy laser systems, but it was decided to standardize the design as an airborne strategic defense system.
The HLC sports a nose-mounted heavy laser turret and extra sensory turrets atop the main fuselage(in a ‘doghouse’ fairing) and in the tail. Most of the interior cabin space has been refitted to hold a separate powerplant dedicated to powering the weapons, large battery capacity, sensors, and fire control. At the time, the laser systems aboard the HLC were some of the most advanced and powerful on Rifts Earth, possessing range in excess of anything not space-based.
Skymaster IIIHLCs, on orbiting air patrol, helped secure GNE airspace for nearly a decade, shooting down Coalition missile strikes and high altitude surveillance platforms, until laser-equipped Cavorite GMR ‘aerollites’ took up the role. The HLCs have since been graded to a reserve status, though on several occasions, aircraft have been detached to act as corps-level strategic air defense, or in support of GNE expeditionary forces.

MDC/Armor by Location:
Nose Laser Turret(1) 120
Sensor Fairings(2, roof and tail) 100 each
Systems of Note:
*Long Range Sensors---Long range acquisition and tracking radar with a 200 mile range, laser range finding, thermal, and optical telescopes with a 100 mile effective range. These systems give the mega-laser a +6 to strike at ranges under 5 miles, +4 at ranges out to 80 miles.
Weapons Systems:
1)Mega-Laser(1)---Though some rifles and infantry heavy weapons did more damage, few mobile weapons systems had the range of the HLC’s laser. This weapon is designed to start burning through a missile’s or aircraft’s shielding well out beyond the range of standard laser systems. Even so, the range is piddling compared to what some pre-Rifts Golden Age systems were supposedly capable of; hitting ICBMs and IRBMs in their terminal boost phase from hundreds of miles away....
Range: 80 miles
Damage: 3d6x10 MD at ranges under 5 miles, 2d4x10 MD out to 20 miles, 6d6 MD out to 40 miles, and 4d6 MD out to 80 miles.
Rate of Fire: Once per melee
Payload: Effectively Unlimited
*-LR/CMCA Missile Carrier---Developed at the same time as the Heavy Laser Carrier, the Missile Carrier (LR/CMCA) was to counter the Coalition States’ long range and cruise missile attacks on GNE territory by returning the favor. Orbiting squadrons of LR/CMCAs would launch counter-missile attacks on incoming CS ordnance, while other squadrons, flying outside CS airspace, would unload ‘swarm’ attacks of mixed decoy and attack missiles, seeking to overwhelm air defenses...or at least give the CS headaches dealing with the distraction. On several occasions, LR/CMCA squadrons threatened the CS Navy, keeping their ships at bay and on the defensive against possible anti-ship missile strikes.
The LR/CMCA features two rotary launchers in its after ventral fuselage, rolling out missiles to be launched in mid-flight. Typically used in a surface attack mode, LR/CMCAs have also been used in conjunction with AWACS craft for long range aerial interception and presumably have been tested in an ASAT role as well(for deployment on worlds not hampered by a dimensional interface/Orbital Debris Ring).

Range: Varies by Missile Type(long range)
Damage: Varies by Missile Type(long range)
Rate of Fire: Volleys of 1-10 each bay, per melee
Payload: 50 missiles per bay, 100 long range missiles total
Notable Munition Types:
* ‘Tacit Rainbow’ Drones----These are LRM-sized mini-cruise missiles/reentry vehicles configured as ‘smart’ decoys that can be deployed from the craft, then fly off on their own power, emitting false sensor signatures, and their own ECM. Adding to the confusion, the drones can be programmed to behave in appropriately evasive ‘stealthy’ fashion, to give the impression that they are in reality a real target attempting to evade detection...only to pop up again later to confuse enemy observers.
When their fuel/power is exhausted, the drones then activate a self-destruct device that destroys them completely( destroys drone and does 3d6x10 MD to everything in a 10 ft radius)
MDC of Drone: 50
Size: 15 ft long, 3 ft wide, w/ 13 ft wingspan w/ wings deployed
Speed: Mach 1.4
Range: 1,000 miles
Damage: None, aside from self-destruct
ECM: Jams enemy sensors and radio transmissions with 50% effectiveness (range: 25 mile radius). Can also be programmed to pump out misleading radar signatures conforming to other craft, including larger aircraft. In an emergency, the drone can pump out so much signature that enemy missiles and sensor guided weapons targetted on the mothership(must be within 10 miles of each other to be effective) will be +4 to strike the drone, and will lose target lock on the SR-100.
Bonuses: Drones are +4 to dodge attacks
*SAW---Stand-off Attack Weapon , for ground attack. Basically, this is a large LRM-sized pod with maneuvering thrusters, rudimentary guidance system, and fold-out glide wings, that is designed to overfly a target zone and launch cluster munitions over it, in a bombing pattern. These submunitions can range from golf-ball-sized antipersonnel grenades, runway crater shells, area denial mines, chemical shells, or even carbon-fiber ‘angel hair’ electrical disruption spools. PS is also working on using SAWs to deploy Kera-Tech style EMP weapons andother specialized munitions.
One SAW can be carried per LRM hardpoint.
Range: SAW has an effective range of 20 miles in atmosphere Submunnitions can be launched up to 300 ft out to either side of the SAW’s flight path.
Damage: (AP Grenade) 4d6 MD to 8 ft area
(Chemical Grenade) Varies by chemical type and atmospheric conditions. A chemical grenade will generally generate a cloud of aerosol 15 ft in radius.
(HE Shell) 5d6 MD to 20 ft area
(Fragmentation Mine) 4d6 MD to 12 ft area
(Incendiary Bomb) Does 4d6 MD to 40 ft area, does an additional 2d6 MD for 1d6 melees, and 1d6 MD per melee for an additional 2d4 melees
(Angel Hair)---Does NO damage, but against conventional power generators and uncovered power lines and distribution systems, it can short out power grids, clog generator air intakes(80% effectiveness against industrial generators and internal combustion engines), and be a general nuisance to clean up.
Rate of Fire: A SAW can volley its submunitions in any combination
Payload:(Typical loadouts)
400 AP/Chemical grenades
OR
100 HE/anti-vehicle grenades
OR
100 Fragmentation Mines
OR
50 Incendiary Bombs
OR
500 spools of wire, each spool holding up to 4,000 ft of aluminum-coated filament
*HSOW--Hypersonic Stand-Off Weapon----A new concept in ‘brilliant’ ground attack weapons, designed to penetrate enemy air defense nets, the HSOW is a large Hypersonic Missile(essentially a multi-warhead LRM) that penetrates enemy defenses at a hypersonic sprint, then splits open to deploy four smaller ‘crulets’, minuature cruise stealth missiles that cruise about the battlefield looking for targets. After deploying its crulets, the main carrier missile can continue on to the target with its own small warhead. The main advantage of the HSOW is that it can be ‘blind-fired’ towards known or suspected concentrations of enemy troops or facilities, before deploying the submunnitions to cruise about, ID individual targets, such as tanks, robots, or bunkers, and then attack. PS is also working on intermissile-communications programming, that would allow a ‘brilliant’ missile to quickly assess a target, and if necessary, ‘birddog’ the other submunitions in its flight to ‘pack attack’ a chosen target. Other improvements down the road include HARM(Homing Anti-Radiation Missile) capability, allowing the carrier missile to draw enemy air defense fire while the crulets attack the enemy radar sites by homing in on their emission beams(the LRM air defense sites around Chi-Tow and Lone Star would be natural targets for this system).
Range:(Main Missile)500 miles
(Crulets) 60 miles, w/ ‘loiter’ capability
Damage:(Main Missile) 2d6x10 MD to 20 ft blast radius
(Crulets)Varies by Missile Type, but typically Plasma(4d6x10 MD to 40 ft blast radius), or Armor Piercing(3d6x10 MD to 20 ft blast radius)
Payload: Main Missile carries 4 ‘crulets’
Bonuses:(Main Missile)+5 to strike
(Crulets)+5 to strike
*TW ‘Breaker’ Missile---The ‘Breaker’ is a new, and extremely expensive, cruise missile-style munition that came about after observations of the various weapons used in the Tolkeen struggle. Engineers were particularly intrigued by several of the anti-armor Technowizardry weapons systems deployed by Tolkeen, especially the Energy Disrupter Mechanism(EDM----See Seige on Tolkeen, pg 69 for details), which allowed small vehicles to infiltrate magically- and technologically-generated forcefields/energy barriers . Anticipating that the Coalition might at some future time acquire large battle-screen capabilities, as well as the knowledge that Atlantis already possessed both technological and magical forcefields, PS mated the EDM to a cruise missile. This addition allows the weapon to penetrate enemy forcefields to deliver its warhead to the target within. The PPE cost is actually less for the missiles than for the original EDM system, owing to the much smaller size of the projectile.
Currently, however, this technology is still rather expensive and bulky...despite hopes of being able to install a Sphere of Annihilation device inside the warhead, the ‘Breaker’ is limited to conventional warheads. The missiles are also prohibitively expensive and complex to manufacture, limiting their numbers and distribution. ‘Breaker’ Technology can be fitted to MRMs and LRMs---it is not considered to be cost effective to employ it on SRMs and mini-missiles.
Range: Varies by Missile Type--MRM or LRM
Damage:Varies by Missile Type--MRM or LRM, but typically the heaviest warhead available.
Special: Can punch through forcefields and magical barriers, but only those larger than 12 ft or more(will not work on personal forcefields)
PPE Cost to Create: 300 PPE to enchant the crystal ‘initiator’ crystal.
*-SAE---The SAE, or Strategic Air Escort variant, was developed from the LR/CMCA variant, with an eye towards producing a more versatile heavy air escort for aerial convoys crossing the Atlantic and through contested airspace(like near Coalition borders). The SAE would mount a more varied array of armaments, electronics, and countermeasures, allowing it to deal with a variety of threats, at a variety of ranges, both actively and passively. The SAE took much the same configuration as the LR/CMCA, with an emphasis on large internal missile bays(only, carrying short- and medium-range missiles), but also sported more gun turrets, more electronics(though nowhere near as much or as sophisticated as the -E/AWACS variant), and more extensive pylon-mounted weapons and countermeasure pods. The SAE is also slightly better armored with improved composite plating and hull reinforcements.
SAEs would serve PS/GNE in a strategic air escort role until the Erinye heavy strike aircraft began providing overwatch for GNE air formations. However, the lower cost of the C-271 SAE meant that it would continue to see service.

*Drone Hooks(4)---The rear wing assembly mounts two hookup mounts for towing airborne UAVs like the PS-RPV-05 Firebird, PS-RPV-06 Blackbird, PS-QF-4 Phantom, or PS-XF-UCV-45 SkyDagger. The linkage allows the mothership to recharge any onboard electrical systems in the drone aircraft, and update their programming in flight. The downside is that towing the parasite aircraft reduces overall speed by 10% with two UAVs attached.
Weapons Systems:
1) Missile Bays(2)---Similar to the rotary launchers on the LR/CMCA, but configured for defensive missiles

3) Gun Turrets(11)----The SAE carries the full possible number of gun turrets. The gun turrets of the SAE have been enlarged to accommodate heavier weapons, and typically carry the PS-RFL-25 pulse laser as standard. In addition, a chin-mount turret and larger tail turret have been added with a twin-mount 30mm cannon in each;

4) Wingtip Missile Pods---Mounted at the end of the conjoined wings are enlarged missile pods, capable of carrying the following configurations:
a) Mini-Missiles---50 per pod
b) Short Range Missiles----32 per pod
c) Medium Range Missiles-----18 per pod
*-ACV Fighter Carrier---While the extensive use of nuclear and TW powerplants in GNE/PS aircraft negated the need for such measures as ‘parasite’ aircraft, and with the prospect of giant GMR platforms looming in the future as carrier platforms, there was still some interest in alternate designs for airborne aircraft carriers. PS adapted several C-271s to the purpose, outfitting them to carry Tercel or Vixen light fighters, deploying them from a rear tail hatch or mid-hull belly hatch. Automated systems provide servicing and limited re-armament from ventral cargo bays, and an enlarged crew area immediately aft of the cockpit provides limited facilities for fighter pilot relaxation between sorties. The air defensive armament has been beefed up as well, as the ACV tends to attract more than its share of hostile attention.
The major shortcoming of the -ACV is its limited facilities and capacity...Recovery of deployed aircraft can be a problem in a hot conflict zone, and attending to damaged aircraft with compromised systems can be a real problem, especially if an overstressed component gives way AFTER the fighter has been brought aboard(and, worst case scenario, after additional aircraft have been recovered after it, preventing the damaged aircraft from being easily ejected from the carrier).
The design has, however, also proven viable with flying power armors.

With the perfection of the heavy GMRships, the Skymaster IIIs have been downgraded in importance as the main carriers, but are still produced in numbers for smaller, more frequent, cargo runs, and for the general aviation market.

a) Mini-Missiles----12 shot pod per hardpoint
b) Short Range Missiles---2 per hardpoint
c) Medium Range Missiles---1 per hardpoint

1) Long Range Missile Launchers(2)
Changes/Modifications:
MDC/Armor by Location:
All Locations: +10% extra armor
Missile Bays(2) 80 each
Wingtip Missile Pods(2) 90 each
Systems of Note:
*Long Range Sensors---Long range radar with all-weather capability, 200 mile range
*Sensor Jamming---The SAE can project electronic ‘ghosts’ to decoy sensor-guided weaponry and confuse enemy sensors. Range: 15 miles
1) Missile Bays(2)---Similar to the rotary launchers on the LR/CMCA, but configured for defensive missiles
a) Mini-Missiles-----250 per bay
b) Short Range Missiles---100 per bay
c) Medium Range Missiles----50 per bay
2) External Hardpoints(6)
a) Mini-Missiles----48 shot pod per hardpoint
b) Short Range Missiles---6 per hardpoint
c) Medium Range Missiles---3 per hardpoint
d) Long Range Missiles---1 per hardpoint
3) Gun Turrets(11)----The SAE carries the full possible number of gun turrets. The gun turrets of the SAE have been enlarged to accommodate heavier weapons, and typically carry the PS-RFL-25 pulse laser as standard. In addition, a chin-mount turret and larger tail turret have been added with a twin-mount 30mm cannon in each;
*PS-862 AC 30mm Anti-Aircraft Flak Cannon(Paladin Steel knockoff of the TriaxTX-862FC), Can be mounted singly or in two-gun mounts.
Range:10,000 ft
Damage:4d6 MD single rd, 1d6x10 MD two rd burst, 3d6x10 MD six-round burst
Rate of Fire:EPCHH
Payload:800 rds, 400 rds per cannon
Bonuses:Independent laser and radar tracking system(range: 11,000 ft). +1 strike set on automatic against aerial attack, +2 strike fired by gunner
Changes/Modifications:
MDC/Armor by Location:
All Locations: +10% extra armor
Launch/Retrieval Bays(2) 120 each
Systems of Note:
*Air Grapples---These are combnation robotic arms and flexible tether-nets used for snagging aircraft and guiding them into the bays...or easing them out away from the mothership.
*Drone Hooks(4)---The rear wing assembly mounts four hookup mounts for towing airborne UAVs like the PS-RPV-05 Firebird, PS-RPV-06 Blackbird, PS-QF-4 Phantom, or PS-XF-UCV-45 SkyDagger. The linkage allows the mothership to recharge any onboard electrical systems in the drone aircraft, and update their programming in flight. The downside is that towing the parasite aircraft reduces overall speed by 10% with two UAVs, and 20% with four attached.
Weapons Systems: Standard
Embarked Vehicles:
*4 Tercel Light Aerospace Fighters OR
*12 Vixen Light Aerodyne Fighters OR
*14 Taon Fighter Pods OR
*80 Flying power armors(or Heavy Air Combat Cyborgs may be substituted)

Nope...Neither the Douglas C-54 Skymaster or the Cessna 'Skymaster' look NOTHING like this bird...I was thinking of calling it the Globemaster IV(the Globemaster II being the Douglas C-124, and the McDonnell Douglas C-17 being the Globemaster III), but there are some images of proposed joined-wing aircraft out there which inspired the original VC-270 Aeolus mentioned in passing....I just substituted a 747 fuselage instead...

True, fighters make better escorts, but when you got LOTS of missiles to throw at bandits, that doesn't hurt either....

And here we have another excellent addition to PS overall weapon and equipment list. We here at the Federated States will be buying several dozen of these and the variants for testing out with out own forces.

The Space Car: “George and Jane go shopping at Molecular Motors. The Supersonic Suburbanite turns out to be too much for them so they buy a car similar to their old model. Due to some car-related confusion, they get mixed up with bad guy Knuckles Nuclear and his gun Moll.”
While the main story to “Car” offers nothing special, the episode works due to some sly social commentary. The instant justice accorded by the video judge – complete with commercials – is terrific, and a few other moments stand out as quite solid. You have to like an episode in which a criminal subdues his pursuers with “baby gas” that reduces them to an infantile state.

Re: Paladin Steel Storefront
Paladin Steel 40mm ‘Chewer’ Mortar-Launcher System.
“Targeting coordinates Three-alpha-zulu-gamma...Set at forty-two degrees...Fuze for airburst, five foot altitude, Set for four-stroke six round burst fire...Fire when ready...Okay, folks, let’s ruin somebody’s day!”
This is a Paladin Steel experiment in adapting the pre-Rifts Australian ‘Metal Storm’ electronically-fired barrel-cassette gun system to its own format. The Metal Storm system, rather than mechanically load a belt or bin of ammunition into a single barrel, stores the rounds end to end inside the barrel, and fires the individual rounds electronically from a computerized firing mechanism that designates the firing bands in the barrel assigned to each shell, and fires them off. Preloaded barrel assemblies can be ‘stacked’ in box-launchers, allowing for mass-firing capability. Expended and emptied barrels can then be manually reloaded or entire barrel ‘stacks’ slid out and replaced with ready-loaded fresh assemblies. The system had seen some distribution worldwide prior to the Coming of the Rifts, and the Coalition had unearthed enough data on the system to apply it to their double-barreled, high-capacity, mini-missile rifles, which in turn were copied by Paladin Steel. Paladin Steel has now applied the technology to a 40mm mortar shell format using a 36(6x6)-tube stack-array. Too heavy for infantry carrying, the ‘Chewer’ is typically mounted in a vehicle on a trainable pivot, or in a static gun position(such as a field artillery revetment or fortification). The major advantages of the system are a high rate of fire and few moving parts to malfunction, but these are balanced by high vibration and the need for special training in maintaining the unorthodox artillery system.
The Chewer has thus far seen only limited deployment with GNE and PS-approved affiliates so far, as PS works to get ample logistical support (including pre-loaded barrel cassettes) set up. It has primarily been seen in border garrison artillery units and firebases, although several have been seen fitted to riverine monitors and patrol boats.
Weight: 2,200 lbs for the basic launcher; 2,900 lbs fully loaded
Range: 6 miles
Damage:(Fragmentation) 4d6 MD to 6 ft blast radius
(High Explosive) 1d4x10+3 MD to 1.5 ft blast radius
Rate of Fire: Volleys of 1-18
Payload: Each barrel holds 5 40-mm projectiles for a total of 180 rds
Cost: 60,000 credits for the basic unit
PSAGL-50A 50mm Projectile Gun
(aka ‘Sneezer’)
“What do you call a Samson jockey who’s been hit with a Sneezer?”
“Soup.”
This overkill weapons system is based on a power armor weapon first seen fitted to PS’s PSA-11 series. It’s a a massively powerful short-range grenade launcher firing a smaller caliber version of PS’s 140mm Rifleman’s Assault Projectile(RAP), essentially an oversized shotgun shell filled with plastic explosive that sticks to the target and blows a massive scab out of the target . The weapon has wretched range for a ranged heavy weapon, but does TREMENDOUS damage at close quarters, much like a giant shotgun slug.
The weapon itself looks similar to pre-Rifts British riot grenade launchers(particularly the British Arwen Ace 37mm LLW), with a stub-tube construction, forward hand grip, midsection revolver-style magazine, and a heavily padded buttstock to absorb the shock of firing. Its operation is fairly simple and straightforward; there’s not a whole heckuva lot that can go wrong with it, and it’s stoutly constucted for reliable operation under harsh field conditions, including water immersion, mud infiltration, freezing cold, and baking heat.
The ‘Sneezer’ originally only used the 50mm ‘RAP’-rounds, but other munitions have since become available, formated for the 50mm shell size, including riot ‘knock-down’ rounds, chemical shells, and strap-rounds.
The PSAGL-50A has only recently begun appearing on arms markets, but has reportedly already gained orders from urban militias, police forces looking for a close-combat power-armor stopper, and armor-hunters.
Weight: 5 lbs
Range: 800 ft
Damage: (50mm RAP)1d6x10 +40 MD to 6 ft blast radius, plus 1d4x10 SDC to anyone inside the armor(or 6d6 SDC to anyone within 10 ft of the other side of the wall). HALF that if used against composite ‘meshed’ armors designed to flex, rather than spald(most power armors are contructed to have a certain amount of ‘warp’ to their structure, but cheaper armors, like Chipwell and early Northern Gun designs, lack this protection).
More advanced modern armors, such as those used by the Coalition, Triax, and other very high tech nations(the Kittani, for instance), for their EBA, power armors, robots, some vehicles, and special purpose fortifications(such as high echelon command bunkers) are designed NOT to spald, due to multiple composite layers of megadamage fabric and netting.....for these armors, spalding/bleed-through damage may be reduced to 1/4, or may not apply at all(GMs, use your discretion). Normal blast damage still applies, though, as the outer layers of armor are blown off/vaporized.
Restraint Caster(AKA "Booger") This "safe" munition blasts out an expanding glop of adhesive resin and plastic fibers that entangle and immobilize targets in an instant straitjacket. The tough polymer is non-allergenic and fire-resistant.
The "Booger" suffers from atrocious range; it can only reach 150 ft before flopping to the ground. Covers an area of 4 ft, and is
air permeable, so even if a perp is covered head to foot they can still breath.
Damage: 1d4 SDC bruising damage on impact, restrains with a P.S. of 30(characters without a robotic or supernatural PS of 30 or greater
are stuck until released. Even with r/s PS 30, takes 1d4 melees to bust out/be cut out).
Note: Police carry solvents that dissolve the "Booger" within 1d4 melees.
(Black Market cost for the solvent is 500 credits per 3-use tube)
(50mm Riot Round)Riot Rd: This munition is an expanding ball of sponge plastic, swelling up to roughly the size of a basketball. The Riot Round has better range than the Restraint Rd, and is designed to deliver a bruising kinetic
slap to resisting perps.
Range: 300 ft
Damage: 4d6 SDC plus 80% chance of knockdown(60% chance of stunning for 1d4 melees, -10 to initiative, strike/parry/dodge/roll, and half apms. Reduce percentiles for stun and penalties by half if wearing MDC armor)
Smoke Rd: Smoke in a 20 ft area
Foam Rd: Designed for fire-fighting. Covers a 10 ft area in fire-retardant foam.
High Explosive Rd: 6d6 MD to 10 ft area
Rate of Fire: Single shot, ECHH
Payload: 5 shots
Penalties: The shells are rather slow (250 ft per second) and is meant to be used against stationary and slow-moving targets(like vehicles)...Against faster, more agile, targets like power armors and hovercycles that actually get a dodge, the 50mm shells are -2 to strike. Only the baton and restraint caster rounds lack this problem, being sufficiently fast enough to nail a target without penalty.
Cost: 3,000 credits, 900 credits per round for the RAP shell, 35 credits for the Restraint Round, 22 credits for the riot round, Smoke and Foam rounds cost 18 credits, and HE costs 150 credits
Paladin Steel PS-CT24 Torpedo Rifle
“Hmmmm.....decisions, decisions, decisions...do I shoot up that patrol of CS deadboy frogmen, or do I open up the sides of that CS destroyer and send it to the bottom of the bay? Or, with twenty torps in the tube, can I do both?”
The PS-CT24 is merely an adaptation of the PS-CM22 Missile Cannon, modified to fire mini-torpedoes instead. Meant to be carried by amphibious cyborgs and power armors, the PS-CT24 looks and operates almost exactly like the mini-missile version, even down to the backup co-axial light laser mounted on top. The main differences are that the CT24 is slightly more streamlined in design, fires mini-torpedoes, and the laser is a blue-green model for maximum underwater penetration.
Weight: 120 lbs(90 lbs unloaded)
Range:(Mini-Torpedoes) 1 mile
(Laser) 2,000 ft in air/Underwater
Damage:(Mini-Torpedoes) (HE or Plasma)1d6x10 MD to a 6 ft blast radius
(Laser) 2d6 MD per blast
Rate of Fire:(Mini-Torpedoes) Volleys of 1, 2, or 4
(Laser) ECHH
Payload:(Mini-Torpedoes)20 per launcher(10 per launch tube)
(Laser) Effectively Unlimited attached to an external generator, or 20 shots per standard E-clip/30 per long E-clip as backup.
Special Features:
*Nuetral Bouyancy Design-----Won’t immediately float to the surface if released, nor will it sink if lost.
*Mini-Sonar---Mounted alongside the laser sight is a mini-sonar array that is direction ratherthan omni-directional(meaning that to acquire a contact, the gunner has to ‘wave’ the beam around to pick up contacts). Effective range of 3,000 ft and generates a 30 degree arc of effect. 60% accuracy in gauging distance, depth, and shape. Relays its information via a hardwire link or to an optional video display on the back of the sight(the latter is not recommended for murky conditions or covert ‘blackout’ operations).
Cost: 48,000 credits

Re: Paladin Steel Storefront
While going back over old posts for compiling an Inventory List, I’ve been reading past suggestions...This one was suggested by Gadrin...
Paladin Steel Fort-A-Potty
Admitt it; it’s your secret fear...You’re obliged to answer Mother Nature’s call, but you’re afraid that others won’t respect that obligation’s timing. You’re heeding natural function, and you dread then finding yourself facing slavoring hungry jaws or the muzzle of a gun. Well, here at Paladin Steel, we recognize that fear....and fear begets insecurity, and we’re all about security. We’ve listened to you, our loyal customers, and we’re answering YOUR call.
Enter the Fort-A-Potty, the most advanced and secure outhouse relief station on the market. We’ve incorporated the latest in portable fortification design and construction to produce an exceptionally functional unit for your needs. Stoutly constructed of reinforced megadamage composites and ceramics, the Fort-A-Potty can weather the elements, survive a battering, handle the crushing pressure of giant jaws, and resist modern weapons fire. Special rapid-deployment anchor pylons one on each corner, can instantly activate to secure the module firmly to terra firma, preventing those terrifying tip-overs. In the event the Fort-A-Potty IS wrenched free of the ground, special internal design, based on aircraft crash cage and cockpit armored ‘tub’ design, keeps the occupant safe from injury. You won’t freeze or boil in bad weather either; advanced self-cooling materials reflect heat outside in hot weather, and insulate against even arctic windchill...
Internally, the Fort-A-Potty is spacious(with enough elbow room for removing and donning body armor), accommodating to most humanoid(and quite a few NON-humanoid) species, and tastefully appointed in PS’s SaniTex anti-bacterial materials. The seat itself comes with a variety of cutom-fit lids to suit just about any user, and the works incorporate our advanced Dry-Slic no-stain/no-stick material(the same material used in our lubricant-free firearms), with a devil-lock that prevents slosh-back/up, even with the unit totally inverted. Durable, sanitary materials that either require minimal effort to clean, or are effectively self-cleaning, are used extensively throughout. Cool-luminescent lighting strips powered by heat and solar absorption insure there will always be light available to you inside, even when it’s darkest outside. Solar cells embedded in the roof provide a renewable power supply for the Fort-A-Potty’s internal ventilation system that includes air filtration that keeps the outhouse smelling fresh, even on sweltering summer days, and incidentally also helps filter out impurities in the OUTSIDE air, in the event you’re in less hospitable surroundings(or in the path of a chemical attack). The door is fully lock-sealable from the inside, and all four sides of the module feature one-way vision blocks(you can see out, but nobody can see IN) fitted with fish-eye lensing, so you can see, at a glance, everything outside before you take a step out. Also featured are a set of sealable gunports, similar to those on APCs, in the event you discover you AREN’T alone, and surrounded by unwelcome company! Two internal closets hold extra toilet paper, sanitary materials, reading material, first-aide kits, or emergency supplies in event your stay takes longer than than you’d anticipated.
But it doesn’t stop there! The Fort-A-Potty’s waste storage system incorporates the latest in bio-digestor technology that breaks down waste and recycles it into reusable water and methane biofuel. Ceramic filtration beds, impregnated with the latest in stable digestor cultures from our ABTechS division, break down waste, filter it, and pass it to waiting storage units for convenient use! Let nothing go to waste with this recycling system!
All in a lightweight package that is easily transportable! Available in modern sleek ‘space station’, faux-concrete ‘dragon’s tooth’, or ramshackle clapboard ‘classic outhouse’ exterior designs.
Sure, the Fort-A-Potty costs more than your typical plank-and trench latrine, but what matters cost for the peace of mind knowing that you’re not going to be caught with your pants down, even when your pants are down?
The Fort-A-Potty; it’s not just an outhouse...it’s a sanctuary....
Height: 10 ft
Width: 4.7 ft
Weight: 400 lbs
MDC: 250
Features:
*150 gallon waste capacity---Can be readily plugged into an external high-capacity waste handling system, in case you’re expecting an army(or an outdoor rock concert).
*Panoramic Vision Blocks---One way armor-glass; see them without them seeing you!
*Gunports---Use your own handweapons to blast away at the bad guys outside, without compromising your own safety and environmental integrity, with these special gunports with one-way locks(they let you shoot out, but keep the outside from getting in). Gunports impose a -1 to strike because of the limited field of fire. Heavy Weapons CANNOT fit in the gunports.
*Air Filtration System---This is 85% effective at removing unsightly odors, and 70% effective at filtering out noxious gases from outside. Chemically-reactive material strips provide warning of dangerous P-U(Pollutant Ubiquity) index levels in the air.
*TP Inventory Flag---A spring-mounted warning flag deploys in the absence of internal toilet paper supplies, letting you know when to restock.
*Stabilization Jacks---Tired of being knocked over by concussion blasts, being rolled over by a giant’s kick, or tipped over by obnoxious pranksters? This interesting little system uses Glitterboy-style pylon technology to las and hydraulically drive four stabilizer jacks up to 5 ft into the ground, even through concrete and metal gratings, within 5 seconds, affixing you like a barnacle, and able to stay upright in even hurricane-force winds.
*Roof Solar Cells---Convert sunlight into power for the internal ventilation and bio-convertor(can be supplemented or replaced by a small wind turbine in areas without regular sunlight). Can also be used to charge small electric devices like portable shavers, or handheld radios(in the event you want to listen to a game, or call for fire support).
*Bio-Convertor---Converts that waste into usable water, fertilizer, and fuel! This system, using engineered bio-organisms from our ABTechS biologicals division, is one of the most efficient recycling systems available on the market ANYWHERE on Rifts Earth, and can convert material at an average rate-yield(from one ton of material) of 2 cubic meters of methane per day, at an operating temperature of 20 degrees C.
Cost: 9,000 credits
Options:
*Motion Detection System---Just in case you REALLY need to know you’re alone, this easily installed system sets up a detection zone in a 360-degree area around the module, and will sound an alarm inside if anything trips the 50-ft alert perimeter. Can also be used to activate floodlights. Cost: 3,000 credits.
*Blue Jet Escape Seat---Okay, so maybe an M-index rating of 250 isn’t enough, you’re surrounded, and you’re all out of magazines(the shootin’ kind); looks like escape’s your only option, but you didn’t think to dig an escape tunnel out(or maybe the idea of digging UNDER an outhouse just didn’t appeal to you)...Have no fear, you can fit your Fort-A-Potty with a rocket-powered ejection seat. Sit down, belt yourself in, reach up, and pull the safety pins, then the ejection lever. A folding hood deploys to protect your head, a plate slides in down below to prevent that dreaded ‘up-the-arse’ shot some lucky skeet shooter might try to do on your way up, and explosive bolts pop open the Fort-A-Potty for unobstructed right-of-way. Methane-powered jets will immediately pop you to 5,000 ft(clear of the range of most energy weapons), and a steerable parasail chute auto-deploys, allowing you to drift to safety(or at least give you a running start). Our idiot-proof(and we’ve tested it with quite a few idiots) micro-chip AI autopilot can handle the whole procedure and see you safely through it, even if you’re not a certified paratrooper or ‘jumper. Typical down-range landing is a mile away, but we’ve seen ranges of 2-5 miles with a good wind and some skilled line work. Increase range on the initial boost by 50% if the outhouse’s digestor tank is 50% or more full, and add another 25% if you’ve been on the All-Bean and Cucumber Diet for the past week(and also add a 6d6 MD to a 20 ft blast radius from the exploding tank you’ve left behind in that case).
Note: This is for emergency, single-shot, use only. This is NOT a toy!
Cost: 8,000 credits

Well I suppose someone had to make something like this. Not sure the idea would've ever occurred to those of us at Wildstorm Industries.

Blame Gadrin, sleep deprivation, and a long drive home after work....
Besides, if I can't match you in starfighters, I'll tackle the essentials...

WEll, I WAS thinking of including a methane-powered rocket ejector seat(with range varying according to fill-status of tank and predominant diet), but I got a full night's sleep....
Besides, we REALLY don't want a eulogy associated with our product like;
"He was an ace pilot, he survived many a bird, many a shoot-down, and many a crack-up....but he just couldn't land a toilet seat on a dead stick approach..."
Though I MIGHT make an exception for an line like; "MY GAWD!!! THEY'RE FIRING PORTAJOHNS AT US!!!"

Oh you know a Crazy will want that system installed I'm surprised no one thought of this before. I once had a GM that liked to remind us that our characters needed to use the little adventurer's room every so often.. then throw a random encounter at us.. We actually avoided a fight when one of the group of bandits ran away from our Rahu man screaming something and throwing toilet paper at them with his pants down.

That is one heck of new device. Luckily we have our own. Although we know of several merc groups who could use those. Since you are doing this sort of thing. What about tree stands for hunters?
"Your Grace," she said, "I have only one question. Do you wish this man crippled or dead?"
"My Lady," the protector of Grayson told his Champion, "I do not wish him to leave this chamber alive."

Okay...now I KNOW I'm going to have to add a 'Blue Jet Escape Rocket' feature....
And I really DIDN'T need that image...

Hey, we got bonus experience for beating the fight in a completely unique way that didn't waste any resources.. other than the thrown toilet paper. After that incident, the GM stopped being a jerk about throwing random encounters when nature called.

Paladin Steel VTOL-8C ‘Flitter’ Light VTOL
“’Flying call boxes’ is what we call them in the ‘force...pure brute force aviation, with those two big engines being all that’s keeping you aloft...The grease monkeys call them ‘cement mixers’ because those big engines can ingest just about any sort of flying debris....dirt, salt spray, dropped tools, pigeons, and keep supplying lift....Hope that’s true, because if those thrusters cut out on you at altitude, you got zip aero-lift to drop you to a safe landing, and damn little time to bail out...if you bothered with strapping on a ‘chute in the first place!”
---Captain Twillen Morantz, Vermont Free State Civil Aviation
“I am constantly asked why we at Paladin Steel produce so many vehicle designs that would seem to be redundant ....too many designs serving the same purpose....especially in our military, where a flattening of logistical demands would appear to be in order..
I remind such questioners that we are a COMPANY, and that we produce not solely for the military needs for the GNE. We must constantly keep our eyes on our profit margins, and to maintain that, we must produce products that people both CAN and WILL buy. We are not the only arms manufacturers on the market, not even the best, and we cannot devote ourselves to producing only high end military hardware that only a few prosperous nation states can afford and maintain.
However, by virtue of those high end systems, those states and surrounding communities have seen a bloom of emerging commercial activity, and the return of a middle class and population working at more than subsistance. It is this emerging segment of the global population whose potential we seek to tap, for who we design most of our products.
Transportation is one of our most important products; with larger communities and growing trade, secured trade routes and the stabilization of regions once dominated only by chaos, travel, and the infrastructure to support it, is again becoming a dynamic in our societies and in our world. A dynamic we will serve and foster, towards the establishment of common global civilization. Starting with the individual traveller. “
----Deneva Khalane, Paladin Steel CEO
Despite their rather different designs, this VTOL design, together with its cousin, the Boston Aviation PHS-11a, have become so ubiquitous, buzzing around the cities and territories of 5ST, that many people in the Greater New England region often confuse them, ascribing them to be variants of a common design, which, given the fact that both vehicles shared a common development team, isn’t too far from the truth.
The PS/VTOL-8C is a light Vertical TakeOff and Landing vehicle designed to fill the role of a light helicopter or private plane. The vehicle consists of a reinforced crash-cage and glassite crew compartment squating on a fixed tripod-landing gear, with two large turbofan engines swivel- mounted atop, and to the rear of, the crew cabin. The PS/VTOL-8C is a brute-force, directed-thrust aircraft that relies entirely on engine thrust to remain aloft; it has effectively no aerodynamic lift in event of engine failure(a large parachute deployed from the roof of the cabin provides some measure of hope in an emergency ditch). Fortunately, the Flitter relies on the PS-Alison-118C Turbo-Fan, an extremely reliable design whose various variants have been in service in both civil and military use for over a decade now.
The ‘Flitter’ is noisy and short-ranged, and ill-suited for aerial combat, but it is easy to fly, reliable, and inexpensive to operate. Its sturdy crash-cage design and reinforced nacelles can take a surprising amount of punishment, either from enemy action or undue buffeting and debris ingestion/impact. Though it’s not really intended for combat, the VTOL does have two light hardpoints on the lower front of the hull, intended to carry searchlights, camera pods, and sensor modules, but which can accomodate light gunpods, rocket pods, and energy weapon modules.
The ‘Flitter’ has become an extremely common air vehicle in the Greater New England region, and it is starting to make inroads into theregular commercial market. The VFS/CoM use these machines as forestry patrol craft, traffic monitoring, internal security, and light transport, while an increasing number of allied nation-state citizens, with large amounts of disposable income, have acquired these craft as personal transport.
