I run it like this. You do not get 10 bonus spells. A Battle Magus may learn 2 new spells over and above the 3/1 per level. They have to pay for them as normal. At low levels, this is awesome. You're about even with an LLW. Around level 5, an LLW pulls ahead, and can learn massive numbers of new spells compared to the Battle Magus.
