The Wedding of Monica Donald (my daughter)
and Steven Stanfield (my new son-in-law) - August 7, 2009
Here’s the short version . . .
- The bride was stunningly beautiful.
- The handsome groom was dashing.
- The parents bubbled with pride. Tears of joy flowed.
- The weather (especially for Seattle) was cool, dry and perfect.
- The ceremony was Native American and spoke to the human condition, love and life. It was wonderful.
- The reception was held at the couple’s home where 100 friends and family gathered for dining, well wishes, conversation, dancing, and laughter.
- There were no fights, drunkenness or arguments.
- The home was truly filled with warmth and love.
- The food was delicious and the decore was enchanting.
- I made three new friends for life – my fun loving and playful in-laws, Dale, Sandy and their second multi-talented son, Mike – and many new associates (Seth, Kari, Ross, Marcus, Peter, Luke, Maximilian, Robyn, Cleama, Andrea, Sue, Diana, Rose, Ellen, Mateo, Martha, and many, many others).
– I walked the bride into the garden enclave where she was wed.
- I was pleased to give her hand in marriage to a fine young man named Steven Stanfield who I’m happy to welcome into the family.
- I took a million photos (okay, only 197), and I cried, just a bit, when the couple exchanged their vows.
- It was great. I’ve never been prouder in my life. Monica and Steven have made a wonderful life together even before they wed. They have a host of amazing friends, have touched the lives of many in a positive way, and are loved by many.
I had a wonderful time, though the days sped by much too quickly. It wasn’t much of a vacation, as the week was filled with catching up, meeting new people, conversation, shopping, buying flowers, seeing some of the sites, taking pictures, babysitting “Max,” cleaning, folding napkins, setting up, tearing down, staying up late, and long hours on the airplane. I also squeezed in a visit with a couple of old pals, Rene and Selene Vega. It might not have been quiet or restful, but it sure was good times.
I arrived in Seattle on Monday, August 3, and got home around midnight Saturday, August 8. I slept in on Sunday morning, unpacked, did laundry, ran around, went to the office though I got little done, talked to Alex and Kathy, and crashed later that evening.
Monday I was still on West Coast time, moving slow, and even though I stayed at the office till 10:20 PM, I spent half the day getting photos processed and talking about the wedding. Went to bed around 1:00 AM and got moving at 7:30 this morning.
Fear not, I’m back in the swing of things, catching up on business and back to work on Mysteries of Magic™. More about happenings at Palladium in my next Murmur later today.
Sincerely,
