The Monsters & Animals book lists them as "dragon type creatures".

I agree. They are dragon-like, not true dragons, in my opinion.

They are not listed in the D&G book, so they are not dragons.

Think of it as the difference between humans and other primates. Most of the "true" dragons are humans. Great Woolies are the ogre of the breed. Sea Serpents are closer to bonobo or great apes... closely related to humans (or dragons), but not humans themselves.

I did have a pirate campaign once where the boys tried to pass off sea serpent parts as dragon bones to the local alchemist. They thought they were pretty clever till a few pissed off necromancers came looking for them....

When it comes right down to it, they are not the same thing. Sometimes the books are just not really clear on the differences in the general explainations, but the way they are written is clearly not the same.

I remember finding that analogy about Woolies and Ogres to be really annoying when I read it, seeing as how Woolies are useless idiots and Ogres have the same intelligence and versatility in OCCs as humans eh?

I am wondering if an Ogre hooked up with a Sea Titan or an Amazon (Rifts Underseas or South America) if you'd get an Ogre.

Pretty sure with a sea titan, the child will always be a sea titan(of course I could be wrong). As for the amazon, depends. If female the child would be a human amazon like mom, if a boy, then the child would be an ogre.

The only one I would dispute is the Neo-humans. In the write up they say that the Neo-humans are not humans at all, even if they look like humans.

If a Ogre 'hooked up' with a sea titan, then the offspring would be a sea titan.
If an ogre male hooked up with an amazon, then any female offspring would be amazons.

A better comparison would be more like the difference between Unicorn or Pegisi and normal horses.
