The player was very convincing, especially when he acted it out with a couch pillow. For simplicity's sake the GM let him use all his melee attacks shaking the poor guy and said that he was dead. Any good house rules for SDC damange to people in EBA?

There are official rules in the books for the ways to hurt people inside their armor.

Shaking isn't one of them. Presumably the padding protects them, as well as the armor joints being designed to prevent damage to the joints of the wearer.

Hi Belial,

Did you think it wasn't quite right but it all happened really fast at the time before you could say anything? Or do you think it was okay, but your just curious about if the book has an official method?

If it's the former - hooboy, clearly they weren't really excited about looking at the book to see what happened next. I wouldn't bother trying to figure out the official way as if they are interested in it. Even if there is an official way, you'd have to sell them into the idea of following it.

We don't generally bother with it. It can get complicated when you start looking at the details.

The GMG and Rifts Ultimate have impact rules for SDC creatures inside MDC armor. I think the original rulebook does too. I use them a lot, it makes the game slightly more realistic and a lot more dangerous.
Players still have plenty to fear from 20th century bazookas and heavy cannons. It also makes them a little more wary of MD explosives since its no longer an issue of armor simply being depleted. Getting seriously hurt or knocked unconsious inside the armor is a bad thing, and they are more likely to try dodging or rolling with OR, using countermeasures when applicable.
It also helps seperate the heavy borgs from robot pilots and PA pilots and further seperates mages who typically run around in light EBA and have to constantly cast protection spells.

Oh jeez. Here's a rule - the more people you ask if something is legitimate, the higher your odds that someone will say it's rediculous and you've ruined the whole idea and betrayed your fellow gamers! OMG!

And on a forum your asking alot of people.

Having said that, I think alot of people would find that legitimate. Your just not going to find only that type of person here, though.

Even while inside armor your still going to take bumps and bruises from kinetic impacts, and burns from energy weapons.

How much damage you take would depend upon the GM. I just convert the MDC damage to straight SDC damage to the wearer. Other more forgiving GM’s may want to make the SDC damage be less.

I think it would act as impact damage like falling. I don't do it myself because it can get a bit complicated (in my already complicated game) but it makes sense
The entire experiment may ultimately not work. But as Tiger Woods tears into the springbok, his mouth crimson with blood, he looks to have all the makings of a natural-born killer.

Agreed. I do this:

Full MDC as SDC to meatbags in body armor.
Half MDC as SDC to meatbags in PA.
1/10 MDC as SDC to meatbags in Robots or small vehicle equivalents (like a starfighter)

In my games, its why you find dead people in salvageable armor.

In both Rifts and Splicers, this houserule keeps PCs on their toes.

The players don't mind because it allows them to knock the poop out of guys inside heavy armors. In fact, about half the CS troopers taken down in my games are battered, bruised and knocked out instead of vaporized.
