Who will bail us out of jail?

Unread post by Kevin »

Who will bail us out of jail if we get arrested!?

That was what I was wondering Sunday afternoon.

I got the crazy idea of actually going to, photographing and taking measurements at actual railroad train tracks, for Dead Reign™ Dark Places™, but I didn’t think it could almost get me and my accomplice, Kathy Simmons, arrested.

Wandering around the train tracks taking photos was one thing, then I got the idea of taking a couple of Kathy’s “zombie ghouls” and staging a photo shoot with them in it. They looked great.

We would probably have been fine except for two things: 1) We were shooting in a suburb, and 2) a train came by while we were posing zombies. Actually, that worked out fantastic, because we were able to pose the figures in time to shoot several shots as the train went by. Again, the shots look GREAT!

I figured the conductor would call the police to report “people doing something” on the railroad tracks. And told Kathy we had two minutes before the cops showed up. We probably could have gotten away in time, except one of the ghouls fell apart on her.

Sure enough, two and a half minutes later, we hear the woop of a police car siren.

Thankfully, the police officer was very understanding, and since we were done and packing up, he let us off with a warning. Kathy said she saw him laugh when the head and arm of the zombie fell off as she tried to move him. Funny.

See what lengths we are willing to go to give you the best books possible?

I was very happy with the 322 photos I took on Sunday at numerous locations in Plymouth, Westland, Livonia, and Detroit. You’ll see at least a dozen or two in the Dead Reign™ Dark Places™ tweaked by Wayne on the computer to look more like inked drawings than photos. Very cool.

Dark Places™ is really coming along. The illustrations are awesome. We hope to wrap up by Friday, but it may not go in till Monday or Tuesday. We’ll see. What do to trains have to do with the book? You'll see, and you'll like it. :)

Sincerely,
