Re: What Magic OCC do you think wokr for Dargons?
I tend to run on the idea that the very ancient dragons (none are around or least to anybody's knowledge) were the ones that brought some of the magic to the sub races of the Gods, like humans, elves...etc. But thats my PF world and it wouldn't be out of place, but rather common place that some of the remaining dragons in my world have a spell or two or some knowledge of rare and forgotten magic and lore. The Chi'ang Ku is a good example of that. You could definitely set them up as a regular wizard ( i dumb down the ley line walker) with a few spells from other disciplines. You just need to balance it. And if you're running the game then anything goes really, just keep in mind not overpower them with a Necromatic Temporal Fire Warlok Blood Druid. May raise a few eyebrows...lol
Get a good look at how many spell abilities each type of dragon. Then start trading things out. You can still be pretty focused with magic selection according to the nature of the Dragon. Like an Ice dragon, you could use common invocations that involve ice and or water. Then borrow form water elemental spells and look around at the other disciplines for cold based magic. Thats the way I would do it, and I've done other character builds that way as well. Just remember balance! happy gaming

PFRPG Dragons don't have O.C.C.'s

The 1000's of dollars and 1000's of hours I've put into gaming says otherwise. Do what you want Gaby.
Doom is right. Its is something always to consider. May cause arguments or discourse for games when you start breaking or bending rules. Another thing is if you are the PC, that means the GM can change things as well, or if you're the GM, you'll have to consider bending or breaking the same rules for players when they make a character or during the course of the game. Then things can get way out of wack because of imbalances. The books for the most part are pretty darn balanced in PF, its been play tested ( or should have been ) and tweaked to insure that balance.
But never be afraid of exploring options and creating your own stuff. The rules are guidelines, its up to us as gamers to make an enjoyable game more enjoyable by making stuff up if you so desire.

I would go with the "they are just able to learn spells and not have a formal 'magic class' format'.
May you be blessed with the ability to change course when you are off the mark.

You find the description of additional learned magic classes under the Adult Dragon description in D&G and also in the old Rifts Conversion Book 1.
IMHO, a Dragon player character sould not have an O.C.C. from the beginning (he/she is still a hatchling and learning what to do with his/her natural powers). Later on, it could be possible, that a dragon learns an O.C.C. to gain additional magic powers (we are speaking in hundreds of years).
Do learn uncommon or rare magic is not impossible for a dragon, esp. if he/she is wandering the Megavers.

Dragons, especially dragons like the Great Horned Dragon, are all drawn to learn magic and would be interesting in learning rare magic. Since dragons can feel magic and are mega verse travelers, it's not a leap to say that a dragon could learn a rare magic. Dragons are the best character to use for rare and unique magic followed by a lizardmage.

Dragons and Gods have them inculded and also the old Conversion Book 1.
Since dragons have the magical abilites of a spell caster I mostly go for exotic disciplines like Temporal Wizard or Warlock (depending on their race).

Re: What Magic OCC do you think wokr for Dargons?
Depends on the Dragon type.
I could see a Thunder Lizard geting Techno-wizard abilities/spells.
The Dragon type clearly says which are most common. A few Dragon types however give them a selection for Alien or other dimensionial Magics. Which would in theory allow you pick ANY magic type. However a Dragon learn Tattoo Magic can only give other tattooes not use them himself (unless a Chiang-ku dragon). They did that so you could be a Rare Magic user or a reason to have unknown magics to Palladium.
Depends on the character and the type of dragon.
