I spoke to Alex M and he said there wouldn't be a problem with me posting this info here. I have to say outside of a few questionable changes I think this really does help make the Eugenics class (which is still named wrong ) a lot more playable.

I remember telling Kevin when PU2 first printing came out that with 7
million dollars (which at the time was the bare minimum amount) I was
making just beastily guys and I thought overall he gave the class way to
much money to play around with. I'd said I switch its budget with that of
the Bionic or Robot guys. However, under 5 million is some what difficult
especially in part to the increase in pricing of some abilities. For me a
good medium was 5-12 million for a base money amount.
It was my pleasure. As someone who loved the concept but hated what you could make, I was really happy to hear they changed the prices around in the new printing, but I figured not everyone would have both copies laying around and this way you don't need to get 2 copies.

Thanks!
Stuff like this should be put in the Cutting Room Floor section of the website.
That way people can still find it after this thread gets buried in a week or so.

This is the official erratta. It was written by Carmen B. himself.

Awesome job. I take it you thought the version in the book was a liitle too much.
Oh no I didn't make the changes, I just collected and compared and listed the changes from the 2 printings. I loved the basic idea behind the class (name aside ) but it was just waaay to sick and I figured I'd help out those who didn't have the new book.

Because they like to taunt me.
Seriously, what the class does isn't Eugenics which would be more selective breeding to make a superhuman, instead it's a genetic engineering to make the biological equivalent of a borg.

Sinse genetic eingeering is the changing of genes, and mutants get their powers though altered genes, shouldn't all superpowers whatsoever be avaible to eugenics?

I think part of it is that if you list every power as a Eugenics option, it becomes an entirely new sourcebook in and of itself. As Gryphon Chick pointed out in the New Powers thread, any power can be converted to Eugenics or Robotics options if one thinks out exactly how it would be possible. Then it is just a matter of assigning costs.

If not, what would you say would be a good price for a pelvis?
2) How much for a complete clone of a normal, non powered human? I mean just some random dude off the street or random stiff out of the morgue to have as an NPC ally/spy/informant etc ? I mean would it be cheaper to clone a whole guy than putting one together piecemeal?
Male or female pelvis?...LOL

Valid point, I was just wondering why the pelvis was not included. Especially since it's a rather important area!
And what sort of Eugenic modifications might be available
seriously though, "Waist Down" impairment is mentioned in more that one place in PU2 (Like in the Empowered Category) so I was wondering if, in such cases the pelvis needed to be bought separately or is it assumed in the cost of the 2 legs?
There appears to be no canon answer to that.

There are some problems/issues with the new budget and some of the prices, powers like the Psionic ones can quickly drain you dry, but what's really bad is that say Bio-Regeneration Super which while expensive before at 7 million dollars you could still take it with all but the lowest number and still have some money left, but now at best you're only going to have 3 million left after buying that, taking that out of the range of a majority of the potential characters.

thexpert wrote:The 7 million dollar power heals 2D6/ melee, right? Isn't there a significantly sheaper one that does 1D6+3? plus you can get healing factor pretty cheap IIRC
Well yes, but the 1D6+3 one is only good outside of combat which limits it's use. And yes Healing Factor is only 1.2 mil, but it seems like a huge jump for Regeneration.

Ok, so I've got a question on Eugenics, and I figured since this is the official post for Errata and questions regarding Eugenics, I would post it here. (And I agree with Daniel Stoker - Eugenics isn't the right name for this category. It should be something like "Genetic Engineering".)
On page 22, you can purchase Attribute Enhancement. But in the description of Attribute Enhancement it states "Each attribute bonus must be purchased separately and the 'tweaking' process can only be done once. However, other genetic augmentation can also provide attribute bonuses". After this, each attribute is listed, along with the applicable stat increase and the purchase cost. But this statement is confusing me a little.
1. Does this statement mean that I can only purchase an attribute enhancement 1 time per attribute? For example, I can only purchase a +1 to PE one time, and then a +1 to IQ one time? 2. Does this mean that I can only purchase 1 attribute enhancement? For example, I can only purchase a +1 to PE, and no other attributes can be purchased? 3. Can I purchase an attribute enhancement multiple times, so long as it is the only attribute being modified? If so, what is the upper limit for an attribute? For example, could I purchase a +10 increase to PE (at the small price of 2.5 million) so long as it doesn't go over some upper limit that isn't defined?
The 'tweaking process can only be done once' just means that you can't get more money and come back in 5 years and get yourself enhanced again to increase your attributes. So you can pretty much spend as much cash as you want on tweaking, though as a GM I'd limit it to a 'reasonable' total per enhancement just to keep things form getting out of hand.

That's what I thought, and that's the direction I took. I just wanted to make sure I did it right because the wording leaves a lot open for interpretation.

Eugenics characters only work when someone has mapped the genetic changes required to create the effect...most superheroes are not going to agree to be genetically mapped.

Actually, it's that the genenic's of metamutations, and the epigenic's surrounding them, are very hard to map at all, the preciseness needed to do controlled genetic modification is simply not something most nonSplugorths{sp?} can do.Though I suppose some Gene-splicers could help.....
Damn ICE/BCP/BorderPatrol! Damn everyone who won’t damn ICE/BCP/Border Patrol!! Damn everyone that won’t put lights in his windows and sit up all night damning CE/BCP/BorderPatrol!!! If you support ICE/BCP/BorderPatrol at this point, you would have called the Gestapo on the people surreptitiously moving into your neighbor's attic and huffed that you were only following the law.
most of the supers provided by Eugenics say "equivalent", does that mean they all come without bonuses, or that it is the same as the super power?
I woudl say it's identical except where/how stated otherwise.

In the case of Strength, you would not get the Strength bonus for the power, you would get whatever strength bonus you paid for, but you would get the following:
Extraordinary Strength or higher lets you damage things with a natural AR of 14 or higher, normal PS can not
Superhuman Strength makes you resistant to fatigue, taking twice as long to tire the character.
Supernatural Strength lets you damage things normally invulnerable, does extra damage on the table found under the power, and makes you fatigue at 1/10 the rate

This is true, which is why I don't tend to use the NPCs provided by the books. I did buy Gramercy Island and Century Station as general resources, though, even though I was originally against it.

Depends on who the author is. Any NPCs I create are all book legal. But I will agree that some (if not most) of the NPCs I've seen in the books could not have possibly been created using the rules.
maybe it was covered in another printin, but on the final page of the eugenics class it says eugenic characters get 1D x10 +10 SDC, but on the second page it says they get just 1D6 x10??

I always rule on the higher of the two bonuses in the case of a typo like that.

I have a first printing of PU2, and under "Digging, Tunneling, & Excavation", it says that each needs to be purchased separately, but does not give a cost for digging - was this ever addressed?

Having the power costs abbreviated like this is really useful, would be good to include that in the Cutting Room Floor under either Errata or Supplemental too, perhaps, since some people might come there prior to exploring the boards.
I knew you could buy super ability (equivalents?) from Eugenics but it's so spread out amongst a bunch of unique stuff that aren't just power copies that it's hard to get a collective sense of it.
They should really destroy that 'Miscellaneous Errata' section too. It wouldn't be that hard to shove that stuff into appropriate setting sections.

A friend of mine has the 1st edition book and after 25 years of rpg sleep we have decided to play again with some other lifelong friends. Today he emails me his spreadsheet of what he purchased with his roll (he video taped with his phone all his rolls etc) and emailed me an absolute monster of a character using the old book. I am so glad I found this to let him know we made the character wrong.
