Kydian cities?
OK, so I'm re-reading Rifts World Book 2: Atlantis, and I notice a few things about the population statistics:
1.) If you add up all the cities mentioned it's about 35 million including slaves. The whole population of Atlantis is somewhere between 84-90 million.
2.) If you add up the number of Kydians (Overlords and Powerlords) there are about 7 million mentioned in the cities. The total population is listed at 21 million Overlords, and 6.6 milion Powerlords!
3.) It states on pg 28 that the Valley of Wonder has 7 cities with no less than 3 million inhabitants each. There are only 3 cities mentioned with more than three million inhabitants (Splynn, Draconia, and Ki-Talan).
That being said there must be 4 other cities with a population of 3+ million each. That and considering there are another 20+ million Kydians than what is mentioned means there must be at least a couple huge cities with an all (or nearly all) Kydian population. Heck, there are at least 6 million Powerlords that don't have a home already. There must be an entire city just devoted (or mostly devoted) to them. After all there is a mini empire devoted to the Kittani (Ki-Talon has a regional population of 10 million, mostly Kittani).
It's a shame that there weren't a few other cities mentioned like that. I'd be curious to read what those would be like...

Re: Kydian cities?
Big housing apartment complexes(think 'Communist Monumental'), community propoganda theaters and athletic centers, communal kitchens, regular drills and practice in the yards between housing complexes, lots of sculptures extolling the virtues of the Splugorth, loyalty to them, and hard work, even self-sacrifice to them, as well as heroic Kydians...lots of rugrats underfoot being sheparded around by beaming parents and lots of pregnant Kydian mothers-to-be, or playing 'Powerlord' and 'Minion' in the many playgrounds/obstacle courses. Kydian cities are kinda like the North Korean capital, only with a lot more people moving about, and a lot more genuinely happy(read; well-fed and thoroughly indoctrinated) people in the street.

To be turned over with the Flick of a Finger,
And the Turning of a Page"

Re: Kydian cities?
JUST INCREASE THE NUMBER OF KYDIANS IN THE BIG CITIES, OR PUT IN A COUPLE OF LARGE CITIES FOR THEM.

Thanks...Kydian communities would have plenty of daycare(creche-style daycare, with such amenities as retired warriors on hand to woe the kids with their tales of glory), incentives for large families(and work associated with bringing up the next generation of Minions), and some of the best fertility and gyno treatments on Rifts Earth(provided you're a Kydian, of course). The downside is there's a certain amount of Darwinism going on here...you're not going to see much effort wasted on sickly kids(no babies on respirators, for instance), though there's good counseling services(while the kids are whisked away to be part of some biowizardry project) and genetic-testing to make sure it's not catching. There's constant propaganda on 'stronger, healthier generations', and lots of social functions that encourage gender mixing...even some mild eugenic engineering going on with the proven athletes/warriors/performers getting access/invited to posher events and a better selection of more physically fit sexual partners.

Nah...just take the fantasies of totalitarian regimes like North Korea, Communist Romania, Nazi Germany, and Soviet Russia, inflict on people whose previous living conditions were infinitely WORSE, keep cooking and basted with a dynamic (slave labor-powered, conquest-expansionist-powered) economy, and let bake for several thousand years.
The Kydians can multiply like mad because they have entire dimensions into which to expand, they're kept fed with the produce stripped off other worlds worked by slave labor, they can afford to lose MILLIONS in galactic campaigns, and they don't care one wit about it, because they're not stuck on one world, suffocating in their own waste, wondering who of their own they'll have to sterilize to keep from breeding more mouths to feed, and which mouths to kill off so they don't eat any more. At least under the Splugorth they know, sure, they're sending their sons and daughters and themselves off to die in campaigns in ungodly distant corners of the Megaverse at the whim of their alien masters, but they're fed, they're clothed, and there's at least the CHANCE that they'll come back alive, victorious, and maybe with something a little extra to show for their troubles. That's better than their distant ancestors had(a fact that the Splugorth and the older generation Kydians---even though they're many generations removed from those dark old days) are always harping on subtly and blatantly whenever the younger generations ask too many questions like 'why?'

Well there are 6.6 million Powerlords in Atlantis. They are MDC. If you look at PW numbers, between four Splugorth kingdoms there are 1.6 BILLION Powerlords...

That is just brilliant though. Good call. I'm gonna have to do a little reasurch on that... There has to be a huge cluster of cities in Atlantis dedicated to just the Kydians. Similar to what you are discribing.

Yeah, and the fast food places in Kydian communities have big counters on their signs reading something along the lines of "Burger-Gorth's: 72,232,234,(000) Served!"
