Mutant Ninja Turtles Gaiden

Unread post by Sabre 1 »

Don't know if this has been discussed on the board before but i've just discovered this webcomic: http://www.mntgaiden.com/en/

It's an alternate history tale (set after a mashup of Turtles Volume 1 and Season 1 of the 2003 TV series) which has the Turtles split up and grow up in different ways after the death of Master Splinter.

There is a 5th Turtle................................................. but "Renoir" is actually an interesting character and he plays upon the the old 80's TV series thing of humans being turned into mutant animals and how that might make someone question their identity.

Just read the first 500 strips now, it's 3.16am now, and anything that can make me lose that much sleep must be good.

It would be great to talk with anyone else about this comic.

But not any more so than some of the early Turtle comics. Just a hell of a lot more permanent consequences.

That's what I was referring to, the "permanent" part.

Spoiler:
Well it's got them out of the trap of it always being back to happy families with Splinter. I just hope that Don is never successful with his cloning attempts or that if he does everthing gets even more effed up.

Thanks for the linkage, I've really missed the old b/w Mirage Comics days.

It's not really a spoiler more of a Wild Ass Guess. Only at strip 580 so i have no idea if that is what is happening.

It took me a week...but I've read them all.

It's not bad, especially seeing as how it's free.

Spoiler:
I think they went a little over the top with Donatello and the mad scientist thing. The monocle and lab coat he wears is ridiculous. Why is Leo dressed like a Samurai and not a Ninja? And Michelangelo went from a serious personality back to his old mischievous/playful personality too abruptly. I don't like the whole Renoir pervert thing they keep alluding to. And Renoir? Couldn't they have come up with something more interesting than Renoir!?! And Tonfas!?! And how many damn vigilantes are their going to be!?!

Spoiler:
Renoir i don't mind so much, he is just a standard anime/manga perverted teenager. Raphael's choice of weapons for him makes sense if you remember an old Turtles volume 1 comic were it showed that Raph was trained by Splinter to use Tonfas before moving onto Sais. Michelangelo has shifted personality rather abruptly, there does need to be abit more balance between the his past and current self, I'm just chalking if upto him still being happy in his revelations about himself and his family and he will be more balanced soon. I think the Donatello stuff is getting abit ridiculous. He has gone so far off the deep end you can no longer feel any simpathy for him. Losing Splinter was a big blow to his sanity but the things he has done since have just turned him into such a evil douche. Leonardo? Looks like he has been spending to much time with Usagi Yojimbo than trying to find the sender of the sword. There needs to be an explanation of what he has been doing for the last several years and why he has develped a cosplay fetish.
