I'm glad you think so. I had fun with it, and i know I love reading all of the stuff taylor white wrote about the culture. He really hit a home run there.

If you like history of the NGR and lots of equipment, I'd recommend the book heavily. If you like giant robots, it's a big giant robot book.

But I will give a shortcoming. In Triax 1, I found the gargoyle empire material very compelling. I also enjoyed Mindwerks, despite its brevity.

Triax 2 has no new material on The Gargoyle Empire or Mindwerks. If you're looking for more on that, you will be disappointed.

It's worth it for the information on the government and political structures of the NGR alone.

Ah, RatBastard, the voice of reason. *snerk* :)

The civilian section is worth it for ANY Rifts GM, and many players. It has more on the Gargoyles, specifically on how fragile their alliance was.

The Description of Operation Sea Storm gave me a good campaign idea, so I obviously like it. :)

What Triax 2 doesn't have regarding the Gargoyles and Mindwerks.

No new gargoyles
No new gargoyle equipment
No new Mindwerks weapons
No new mindwerks robots
No new MOM implants
No new Mindwerks/Gargoyle/Broodkill NPC's are statted out or discussed

The history section has a small bit about the gargoyle empire being split in half, new strategies the NGR uses, and Mindwerks/Broodkill breaking away from the alliance (but retaining their hatred for the NGR and continuing their fight), but it's all written in terms of how it affects the NGR rather than shedding much insight into the operations of The Gargoyles or Mindwerks.

It's a 200+ page book focused on Triax and The NGR. If that is what you want, and it is what many people would want, it is highly suggested.

However if you are instead buying it for more material on The Gargoyles and Mindwerks, you will be disappointed.

I will say that there are plans for more information on the monster kingdoms in the area in later books I'm working on, and that isn't even taking into account what Carl Gleba has done with Megaverse in Flames. When that book comes out, I bet there will be a ton of info on Rifts Earth that you can use in regards to the Monster Kingdoms.

That is my onlhy complaint about it but otherwise a great book.

Nopw All we need for the next NGR book is Mindwerks 2.
I've got an advanced pre-rifts energy rifle, A soul drinking rune blade, living bio armor, and a hover truck full of nukes. So why do I feel under equipped for this??? (Sir Joe the Gardner 7th level Ogre Keeper of the garden on his first encounters with the Mechanoids)

Specifically

after triax 2 I think there now needs to be a book on the enemies of the NGR. rather than another book that is geared towards making the human military war machine superior to its enemies. I think a book like triax 2 but this time from the gargoyles and bordkils perspective would be good.

Ideally triax 2 should have been that book, but it wasn't meant to be. I think this may have been due to space restrictions as the book already is fairly large compared to many other releases recently.

There are many good things in triax 2, much that i wanted to see, but imo the lack of love shown for the ngr enemies is a negative of that book. i think we need to have some new material on the NGR enemies (gargoyles and brodkils), triax 2 imo is only one side of the coin

Don't get me wrong, I see where you are coming from. There will be some detail (not a lot, though) on the brodkil for the Sovietski Sourcebook, and eventually if a book on Eastern Europe is done, there will be more on the Gargs and stuff, I would think. I wouldn't mind doing a quick 64 page book, like the Rifts Adventure books that is packed with new info and stuff for the Gargs and Brodkil, either.

I think it's fair to say that Triax 2 is a player's book. The book is 99% focused on things that players would use, equipment, OCC's, weapons, etc.

It just seems that in the rhythm of a game, more GM's stuff is needed than player's stuff. A player needs one character, a small number of equipment, and he's good to go for a campaign (with regular equipment upgrade). GM's need multiple bad guys every session, equipment for all of them, and every new session they need largely a new rack of stuff.

i don;t think this is true, since there is 64 pages (out of 192) dedicated purely to the society and culture..all of which is going ot be more useful to a GM than a player. (if a player knows about the society, good. but a GM has to know how that society works. for a player, society is seasoning for roleplay. for a GM, it's the meat of the adventures.)

and much of the stuff in Triax 2, while certainly player gear options, is just begging out for GM's to employ to spice up their adventures. not ot mention the tons of plot hooks found with most of it.
