campaign is about to hit the turning point....
We are about to hit the climax of our current campaign. Is it bad that I am thinking a lot on ways of killing my players? Ok, not all of them, but at least one.

Sometimes killing the players is good. Especially right at the end so they die for some grand reason by some powerful foe and are avenged. Not giving that player a chance isnt cool.
Ofc, someone dying in an RPG doenst mean they're completely gone. The others players may have an adventure trying to resurrect them.
I thought of an adventure this afternoon whereby one of my players may use astral projection and not make it back. the players then have to wander into the unknown that is the astral plane to bring him back...
Maybe your players need to visit Utu and strike a bargain.
Im gettin a bit excited about the possibilities of role playing (Im still talking pen n paper- get your minds out of the gutter). Isnt RPGing fkin great!

They have handled all comers pretty handily. So I want to challenge them.
Plus I told them from the beginning to have a secondary characters ready just in case. They all just leveled too, so they will feel the loss. Also this is the main part of this campaign, the climax. I think a possible loss will add to the experience positively.

I have been contemplating that very idea for a while. I always want to challenge my players but lately they seem to be destroying all comers without any problems. I don't think a challenge is wrong at all. A glorious death for any character would be great I think. As long as they aren't upset too much about it. And the prospect of a campaign to bring that character back is great too. Maybe another character has a telepathic link to him from beyond the grave lol Anything can work if you want it to. This is an RPG! Let your imagination run wild and free!

Thanks for the encouragement! I do feel a little guilty, though.

yeah. Well they had themselves a tough night. A couple of them had some complaints. Ironically, not the guy who had his character die.

that it was too tough. That there was no way out of the conflict. The way I designed it I was was going to wallop them until they were pretty messed up. Until at least one of their characters perished. Then I was going to come in in with a powerful NPC and save the day.
To their credit they almost took out the boss.

Man, you guys are hardcore!
Ever since "The Incident," I've mostly avoided killing any of my players, and just stick to snuffing their characters.

I rarely 'plan' on killing characters, but some times they're not up to snuff and it happens. As my current game builds to its end, I've started to prepare outs for a few fights, to at least give them an alternative to death
Overall however, no it does not make you a bad person to start thirsting for PC death. Somethings got to keep the fear of god in them, right?

Re: campaign is about to hit the turning point....
It was our first campaign, just to get used to the Rifts setting. Now they are seeing all these cool uber-OCCs. So they had characters already rolled up. They had all been talking about new characters for a while.
I felt bad doing it. I really did.

You get over that, trust me. I thrive on seeing the look of panic and terror on players faces.
